On Shavuot we will be staying up all night, the kids as late as they can. We will be praying, reading scripture for ourselves, pausing to hear from G_d, and talking about scripture but not our opinions, opinions from scripture proving scripture as best we can. Yes, coffee, honey, and cheeses but mostly worship to G_d and not the distracting idols of this world. This is to me the best of the best because I love our creator and I love spending time with him. I think we can make the mistake of putting even good things like friends, culture, man made teachings, man made traditions as an idol but G_d wants us to keep it simply and simply draw near to him and not religion or anything but him. Giving your first fruits is literally giving him your focus, your best, your all. It's worth it. The creator of the universe wants us to give him our time. May G_d show you new things this year as you read the story of Ruth and book of Exodus.
