I was a Infantry Platoon Leader in the 2/30 3ID in March 1972. We had a 1LT(Signal Corps) who was our Battalion Signal Officer. He was in charge of a signal platoon spread throughout the battalion.

Thanks for this. I swore into the army reserve on Thursday, BCT in august , OCS in November, then Signal BOLC sometime after!

Question: You have any idea how Signal Officer looks like in an infantry unit. I feel like that could give me the nice mix of signal but still get a bit hooah stuff/action

You can be a PL in any type of unit. I’m in an engineer unit currently. But I also know SIGO’s that work as an S6/PL in infantry units.

Sir, I commission this December as a Signal Officer and I major in Computer Science. I wanted to know can I do anything with signal on the civilian side?

There a ton of Army certs you can get as well as IT certs that will set you up for the civilian side

There were several international students in our class. We didn’t have any Jamaicans in our class, though.

@@AlvintheDirector thanks for your reply. My daughter just graduated from West Point and took her 60 days non-chargeable after graduation summer break. She will be signing into Signal BOLC a few days later. She will be a hold over bc her class don’t start until Oct. she and I are concerned BC due to her being a Freshly minted 2nd LT: she did not read the fine print on her orders. It instructs her to contact housing before signing a lease . But she already signed a lease after having found a place online and moved in. She has a PCS order so she should be fine and receive a BAH and allowed to live off post right? She is concerned that the 442nd might make her stay in barracks or something. Also, since she has a PCS order; isn’t she entitled to 10 day PTDY?

@@arajoaina In order to receive BAH, her orders will need to authorize her to live off post. Most of 442 students live in hotel lodging on base. She should contact housing as well just to make sure she’s not paying an expense not authorized
