@@seanpsx4578 it's probably because of the fact the is unlit caves and mob spawn more in the caves than in the farm so I think if u light all the caves nearby it will be fixed
@@seanpsx4578 I’ll be honest, I’ve built the ‘improved’ version of this farm from Shulkercraft on both of the 1.18.1 SMPs I’m in, and neither is working anywhere near as well as this one did in in 1.17.1 or 1.16.5 on my old server. If you’re having trouble with this one on 1.18.1 too, I’m wondering if something didn’t change in the 1.18.
@@swetadas8640 if your AFK platform is 120 above the bottom of the farm, everything in the caves below should be outside spawnable range. But maybe something changed with that?
ironically, the lowest scored farm was the most appealing to me. one of the easiest to build, and even tho it produces the least gun powder, it its still more than enough for me
I used that one in my survival and the repeater clock kept fucking up and would have to actually go in and manually reset it while worrying about creepers falling on me while I bridged over. After that I would gladly take trying to find at least two cats in a village over using redstone in a creeper farm.

there's a shulker shell farm but shuklercraft hasn't covered it yet it's a bit difficult to build due to block placements and water, but overall it's a great farm

Two things I'll note are for the second design, the glass pillar only reduces the spider spawn significantly but not able to eliminate the spider completely, due to it counting air space as valid spawning space (It is extremely rare though); And any design with spider spawning would yield some bones, due to spider jockeys.
@@zakshei6967 you cant get the same rates as the ones that have a perimeter. The y level is the most important factor in a farm to have good rates...you may have lit up all the caves but your farm is not on bedrock level which hurts the rates. Plus, have u used portal based farm? If not, then thats another minus on the rates because the mob cap will fill while the creepers are being killed unlike if theres a portal, the mob cap is always zero and new mobs will spawn. And lighting up the caves takes too much work and so much time, spawnproofing them will take you forever and it will get boring some time. Making a perimeter only takes 1-2 days and less if you make more tnt machines. The only time that will require work in making a perimeter is draining the lava which isnt that hard unlike spawnproofing everything. Plus in perimeters you dont need to spend time finding dark areas to light up. All you have to do is make a tnt machine, leave it, clear all the lava, make the farm, done. Plus its fun having a perimeter it reduces lag especially if your world is years old..
Most of these are broken They changed the light level for mods to spawn to 0 so you would have to either fully enclose the farms or build a bigger roof

Honestly building a mob farm (like the 2nd creeper farm just remove the glass/trap doors) * 4 has been more than sufficient to me at least. An hour of AFK almost fills a double chest of gunpowder, and you get bones which is pretty useful for bonemeal (I have a double chest of bone blocks) and string which has multitude of uses. But hey good showcase.
Last farm "cats are hard to get." Looking at the kill mech WITHER ROSES. Ya so easy to get, especially early game. I know you can use camp fires but they do take longer so it would effect the rates.
nope, soul campfires are way, WAY more powerful than wither roses, wither roses only deal half heart per 2 seconds, and soul campfires deal 2 hearts per second same thing for regular campfires, regular campfires deal 1 heart per second and wither rose does half heart per second. wither roses aren't that powerful at all, they are only good for fire resistant mobs

The more down you build your mob farms the more efficient they will be because of sub chunks. They are chunk inside chunk in which if you go down more you will get more mob spawning
I’m probably going to build the last farm but with blue campfire instead of wither roses, I think it should work just as good. (Might as well, with the flat part of my world, I’ll be getting 100% efficiency.
Hey Shulkercraft! I have a question. I have seen that endermen spawns a lot in warped fungus biome (nether), so is it possible to make an endermen farm on the nether roof above warped fungus biome? Another Question, Are you Italian?
It is, because in that biome the only mobs that spawn are endermen and striders. But, if no one has done it, is because the spawning rates are far better in the end than in the nether.
For those commenting about wanting a Shulker shell farm: 1. Shut up and be patient 2. It’s not that important to farm Shulker shells anyways; you don’t even need that many Shulker boxes (EDIT: unless you’re on a multiplayer server lol)
@@w.g.k.60 I probably should have been more specific on 2. I guess if you’re on a single player server and not building any gigantic farm, you don’t need that many Shulker boxes. But on a multiplayer server a Shulker shell farm would be feasible.
I disagree with logical geekboys being the best. You have to use wither roses in the kill area. That means you have to spawn the wither and have it kill animals for the wither roses. So the simplicity of build should have been lower.
Yeah definitely a con of that design if you build as intended, though you can alter the kill pit to be more convenient without reducing the efficiency, especially if you use portals to flush the creepers to the nether.

Hey Shulkercraft, the roofs are a bit small. Instead of making the roof to a size where the light level 7 or below, you should make the roof to a size where the light level is 0 for far better rates.
@@snippygfx7894 no if you have seen logical geek boy's wither skeleton farm you would have seen that the rates were much better with light level 0 spawning than that of light level 7 or below spawning.
The last farm is hard because of the cats...what about the wither roses? I think they could be replaced with magma blocks but that would change the rates.
Could you make a tutorial for how to build around 4 creeper farms in a massive hole? creeper farm by maze craft with the use of a looting 3 sword is not only easy and simple to build, but gives 3800 gunpowder per hour O: but I know the time of this video this farm didn't exist

@@NoNameStudiosss move it to the side so it’s not above any blocks in the farm, and you need to lower it down a bit so the spawning sphere still encompasses the whole farm. Can be helpful to use minihud or something to visualise the spawning area.
from the Localgeekboy farm you get 466 tnt per hour From the farm designed by Chapman you get 368 tnt per hour from the farm designed by gnembon you get 290 tnt per hour, and 88 wool
I advise you not to altar the spawning rate of the farm, otherwise you would run into a lot a downtime, and lags from entities, you can increase it to the rate where lags Don occur.
i’m not even joking literally yesterday i was looking for a better creeper farm design then the one in my smp and the only i could find was a mega one that i rly didn’t want to build and then this video comes out the day after - shulker craft u read my mind the same thing also happened with the how did we get here advancement i couldn’t find a good tutorial and then it came out the day after
Any of these farms can be built anywhere. Building them in different locations that change the potential spawn rate means the tests were unequal, and therefore not a good comparison. Build location is completely optional, so it shouldn’t be a factor in determining the farm’s effectiveness.

I built the last farm with a faster/simpler killing mechanism a few days before this video came out, with 10 layers. Works fantastic and while it is a bit difficult to build, it's absolutely worth it
@@xrtyy3851 I built the platforms a bit higher and made all the killing chambers high enough to kill creepers with fall damage 100% of the time. Killing them instantly more than made up for the slightly lower spawn rates.

I’m gonna try logicalgeekboy’s… I’m a somewhat experienced player at this point with a village that SWARMS me with cats, and I’m trying to make enough gunpowder to supply ~10 casual players. I appreciate the design putting the cats in mine carts too. It’s SO much easier that way.
I don't think the second one got enough credit. I built that one in my survival world with ten levels and with just ten minutes afk you get like 20 stacks of gunpowder.
Hmm after watching this that string / gunpowder farm looks very tempting ...maybe adapted .... been using a heap of string to stop glow berries vine bamboo etc from growing further than wanted, and also used it to speed u guardian farm rates :)
I built Gwen’s farm but I removed trap doors so I got everything, used a longer falling tube, soul campfires, 17 layers, and the timer I added 2 more repeaters to add an extra 4 ticks since this farm is so big, I make 2k Gunpowder per hour, 900 spider eyes per hour, 950 string per hour, 1.5k bones an hour, 200 bottles per hour, 300 red stone per hour, 350 glow stone per hour, and 2.4k flesh per hour. I get tons of emeralds but u need over 100 stacks of slabs and the roof needs to be a 23 in each direction to have darkest levels for extra mob spawns and I had to use 12 stacks of torches to light up the area. This farm is quite expensive, but once it’s made all u need is some villagers and you have a few emerald beacons lol.
