I met a very successful sales man and he makes 600k a year he told me if you are young in your 20s to get into sales now at this age if I’m still living with my parents.. he said you don’t need a degree or anything , he also said school does not teach you anything about this.. he just said have grit and be determined and you will be fine

I am someone that struggles with any social interaction in general. My adrenaline pumps like crazy, which keeps me from thinking straight, and causes me to shake a lot. Considering this, by going into sales, I would be attempting to fix that by jumping into the deep end. Is this a good idea?

Hi Jordan, nice video. I am software coder, 14 years of experience. I feel I have passion for sales and Entrepreneurship. I want to go for sales job to get some experience for my Entrepreneurship journey. What would you advise for me?

I would 100% get into SaaS sales (selling software). Your experience as a coder will absolutely help you

You can work in tech sales selling computer items.
@phillipj.moodie3077
@phillipj.moodie3077 3 года назад
@Dinesh Raut. A software coder with 14 years experience definitely knows how to ask questions and then present the customer with a Solution. The only difference with a Sales job is that some Sales people fail to ask questions before they try and sell a purported solution to an undefine need, or possible problem. A great way to phase into a Sales Career is to attend some evening courses at some Tertiary Education facility. An Entry Level course in either Business Practice, or Sales, will normally only last for 3-4 months, but you will find that once members of the class find out that you have some experience with computers you will quickly be exposed to the same experiences that you will get by starting a new career in Sales. You won't have to tell anyone about your experience with computers, because the people who attend that type of course are keen to get to know everyone there. The worst that can happen is that you will enjoy yourself and make new friends. I am speaking from personal experience. As repeated bouts of ill health made me a serial dropout from a range of University Degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Economics along with an MBA aligned with Harvard UniversityI learnt a lot. Phil.

I don't have any sales experience but I have been thinking of now switching to a sales job, so far I have worked in customer service and technical support. But now I want to experience a sales job because for me my job profile doesn't matter to me, all had always mattered to me is money. Maybe its gonna be stressful for me but I want to take this challenge. How it is to work for telecom industry or tech sales? Any suggestion?
@phillipj.moodie3077
@phillipj.moodie3077 3 года назад
@ Swati Chauhan. Last century I was personally recruited by the Global CEO of Siemens, when it was the World largest Telecommunication Vendor, then I was personally recruited by the newly appointed World President of Ericcsons before I set out on my own with the support of the Chairman of Telstra, the Government owned monopoly Carrier. But that was last century and the World has changed after President Trump banned Huawei/ZTE and other countries supported him. So the Telecom market, 5G & 6G is the future, because this week China banned US Supercomputers, which is my area of expertise. I suggest that a good Starting Point is to apply for a Sales Position in any Department of a National Carrier. That is where you will learn future applications. But it's boring for the first two years, Phil.

Hi Jordan. I recently graduated from college and am currently taking my first semester of college trying to earn a bachelors degree in business. You said college is not necessary but what if I want to pursue a career in pharmaceutical sales? Do drug and other medical companies require a degree to sell for them?
@JordanStupar
@JordanStupar 4 года назад
Justin Black - hey Justin. Some companies don’t require college degrees for sales. I don’t have a ton of experience with pharma companies though. However I wouldn’t suspect that they would require it. But since you lack experience, they may only accept you with a degree. I wouldn’t recommend pharma as a sales person, personally. Good benefits, but that’s about it.
@phillipj.moodie3077
@phillipj.moodie3077 3 года назад
@ Justin Black. While I have the experience to agree with Jordan's advice, last century when I was trying to start a Sales Career and was being constantly rejected one of the leading Pharmas was willing to accept me without a Degree if I went and got some Commercial Sector experienced. I was studying Chemical Engineering which was in my favour, but what they really wanted was someone who had dropped out from studying to be a Doctor, with about 3 years of Graduate studies. Phil.

Hey Jordan, I have zero sales experience, but I managed to get a job for a company that sells home security. I haven’t started yet but I will soon. I am leaving my bank job that offers benefits and decent pay for this sales job that only offers commissions. I really want a sales job and I am eager for experience. I’m just nervous about the losing benefits like insurance, but I feel like sales will open a lot of doors for me moving down the line.

Taking risks is an alpha thing to do. My first sales job was alarm and security products, door to door with absolutely no benefits, salary or guarantees. I’m proud of you for making the jump. However, you’re going to need to develop world-class sales and communication skills in order to fully take advantage of the opportunity you’re about to take. @Kevin Ramirez. Taking a job selling Alarms door to door could be seen by your Friends and Family as a poorly considered move. But when I was 22 I gave up a top flight Engineering Job with the Department of Civil Aviation in 1960 when I was 22 and decided that I wanted to join the emerging Computer Industry, but I was told that I was too young to get any form of Sales job before I turned 25. So I then went and did all of the same jobs that Jordan, working on straight commission as he did, because I really and truly believed that I had the ability to become the National Sales Manager of the largest Computer Company in Australia. I not only did that by the time I was 35, by the time I was 40 I had declined to accept the position of CEO Designate for the largest Corporation in Australia, because I was working directly at CEO level with the largest Corporations in the Computer and Telecommunication Industry Worldwide, still without any form of University Degree or Harvard style MBA, because I was too busy using what I had learnt selling Home Improvements door to door that I took every major sale of Telecommunication Equipment in Australia away from every Multinational Vendor and the Federal Government owned Telstra to take 85% of the available market that had to be shared with the Government and 100% of the Commercial Market by applying the skills and self confidence that I gained by teaching my self how to sell Door-to-Door. And I am still very proud of that achievement which I Taught myself to do by reading every book that was published in the 1960's on Self Motivation and Sales and only associating with successful people who could maintain a Positive Attitude. Of course, that is a very rosy picture, but as my late wife would always tell Family and Friends, "Phillip is very difficult to live with, because he just never hears the first nine NO's" Phil.

Yo Jordan what is your opinion in general about Solar Industry Sales as a career path. I'm trying to get my path established in the solar industry as a career that will probably be seeing a lot of future growth. Any ideas about which companies with a reputable track record, established market share & a good company culture? Thanks.
@zachlovescats95
@zachlovescats95 Год назад
Solar panels are probably the products I'd like to sell the most, but the companies that sell them ruin them. They are 90% 1099 and those that aren't work you to death and you won't get paid until months later after you sell (with only a little upfront). Also the people that run them are extremely unprofessional. Most companies are extremely unprofessional since they don't mind screwing over their workers and customers.
