What is the best sewing machine for heavy leather?
The Cowboy CB4500 is our number one selling heavy duty harness stitcher. The leather sewing machine features an extra large barrel style shuttle hook which is the same hook used in the Durkopp Adler 205-370 and Juki TSC-441. This leather stitcher features a compound feed design with triple feed -- it has a needle feed, walking foot, and feed dog. This leather sewing machine has a full reverse mechanism that is capable of sewing the same length stitch in forward and reverse. The feeding action of this machine allows it to crawl over multiple layers of material with ease.
This CowBoy leather sewing machine features a 16.5 inch long arm which allows ample room to sew large projects. The presser foot lift of the machine is about 1 inch and the machine is capable of sewing most materials up to a maximum sewable thickness of 3/4"-7/8".

I just spoke with Ryan yesterday (on a Sunday by the way) and this guy is sharp and on point, I would choose to purchase from him just for his availability and knowledge even If I had to pay a little more for the machine it would be worth it to get his knowledge to back you up when something breaks. @@HightexHeavysewingtechnology I think I love to buy thisone. you can use needle up to Nm26 and thread up to 5/3. and the Presser Foot Lift is just perfect for me. the only thing am less happy about is is the stitch lenght. I wish it is 15mm. but 11mm is also not bad. A few minutes ago I send a email to your German branch about this machine: CB 4500 Freiarm Sattlermaschine mit 42 cm Armlänge hope can get a agreement and try to buy this one.

Hi Ryan. Just watched your very informative video and am wondering if any of the accessories you mention at the conclusion would work on my machine, which seems to be of similar design. I have a Nakajima 421 and I have been led to understand that it is very similar to your Cowboy CB4500. I am particularly interested in the straight sewing guide, which you compare to the rip fence on a table saw. Also, it would be helpful to have the guides that help one sew knife sheaths and gun holsters. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Joe, we never heard about Nakajima sewing machine, CowBoy CB4500 is clone of Juki TSC-441 leather sewing machine, if your sewing machine looks same, the parts should be interchangable.

Hi..,i from Namibia, South West Africa. your video has help me a lot i have similar machines and its a King-star DU-441 it was out of timing and i got it right after watching one of your video about setting the machine on timing but now i have another problem the machine cannot pick up the underneath thread how can i get that right?

many reasons can caused this problem, for example: shuttle hook tip wear out (you have to change the shuttle hook), the distance between needle and hook is too big, timing is not right etc.

Hello! I guess the tank on top of the machine is for lubricating the thread. Does it mean that the machine can sew with linen thread?

Yes, you are right. The casting iron tank is for lubricating thread. This machine can sew with linen thread.

The standard presser foot of Juki TSC-441 type machines is 20mm, why you cannot put 4 layers of leather?

What is that clicking sound coming from the tension area on the side? It looks like something is snapping closed. I don't know if I could ever get used to that noise.

Every heavy duty equipment is noise, include heavy truck!! The noise is coming from the large Barrel shuttle hook.
