I'm an RVer that owns a boat and loves the water. I fell in love with your channel not just for the beautiful people but the great content and to see things I may never get a chance to see and do. Retirement is just around the corner, and we plan to hit the road for a year or two just to see our beautiful country. I would love to do some of the sails you and the Zatar have done but don't think I could get me wife to live on a boat. I can't wait till you do another crossing or you're around the world sail.
You were comparing being in the RV at an RV park to being in a catamaran on a mooring ball and having to dingy everywhere. If you were boondocking in the RV in remote places CVS won't be so easy there either. Only way to be fair in the comparison is to being in a slip at a full hookup marina in a catamaran and being in a KOA with similar hookups. In this situation I think the choice would be catamaran every time.
I know this sounds super simple, but, in a way it is. There is a happy medium to everything. It's finding that medium. Each couple or individual has their own needs and wants. It's difficult to pin down that happy medium. For me, 3 months on the water would be the max without a break unless it was a planned circumnavigation, but that would be only once in a couple years or more. In that case, I would want to live ashore for a while. Regardless, breaks are required. I have an RV (tow behind) but I don't find myself in it that much right now as I still work. (I'm 70 LOL)
Great chat You guys seemed a bit flat today. All good. When it comes to the on boat / RV /land balance, for us it'd be a lot more boat than land, but that's because Rowena and I are old so there's that. I really think that once you have your own Cat that it'll become home and you'll be more settled I'm getting tired of the trolls too lately Record the troll user names and 3 strikes and blocked
Living on a boat you need an objective, catch lobster, fish, and traveling to different destinations with weather windows...Living on a RV in the US, you need patience...dealing with people, driving in traffic, getting a place to park with limited restrictions, and dealing with extreme weather like heavy storms to tornados. Either way...Bobby is a master at it...(Amanda has the greatest lips...just and observation.)
Amanda you should get the Czech Republic citizenship. It opens up the doors to services thoughout the EU. As you age the medical benefits could be worth huge cost savings
im not a sailor or ever been in a RB. i started watching this channel before it had 100k i stopped. i came back and i will say its a bit better when bobby has a good connection with crew or someone like amanda which i would say is his gf. i would say is though having a sailing channel and same time spending time with your significant other! lol any way keep doing what your doing guys! love the channel
No direct experience however the most greasy way to get a schengen extension would be short term educational based application. Portugal and Spain pay tuition for a qualifying educational programme. Pay associated govermnent fees.
Bobby, contact the guys from YT Sailing Fair Isles, they are Brittish and have they same issue with the Shengen Zone. And they stayed way longer then 90 days. There is a way to go around it: have only the crew list stamped, not your Passport. I think in Malta they do that. Go from Gibraltar to Malta and then stay way longer in the EU😉
Hey Bobby, I’m guessing you have noticed ‘Sailing Atticus’ (Jordan & Desiree) have been in the Mediterranean for nearly a year. The fact that Desiree gave birth to their first child in Malta probably has a lot to do with that. They’ve recently settled at a marina in Turkey for a few months. Just figured I’d mention that, in case you didn’t notice. Jordan might possibly have some advice (that doesn’t include having a baby) on angles for being over there long term, but even more so, I would bet he’d be interested in meeting up with you if you both ever happen to be within reasonable distance.
im going to say boat life would be the cheaper way to live and still travel on wind and curent .. you caint move an rv with out spending 300 dollars in its fuel tank.. cost insurance, tires ,every 2 to 5 years, roof re sealed every 5 years, moter, trans, and rearend , shocks brakes, heating and cooling system, every 3 to 5 years, and also some monthly and dont forget generator systems too. , lube and oil done ever 3 months, , id trade all that rv shit for just cleaning under a all electric solar boat every 3 months .. yea im wantin a boat when i retire soon..
Amanda, It takes 100's of hours to learn all the systems on a boat to the point you're able to disassemble rebuild/repair the same. Next system fail, take it on like Bobby isn't there. Product names, serial #'s www research. Bobby, camera mounts on the rails for launch and docking?
The European motorhome sizes (or RVs as you 'muricans call them) are a lot dictated by the EU driving licence scheme. Most people have the standard B licence with which you can drive vehicles up to 3500kg and have max of 8 passangers. Above that you need a different licence (for example C is for trucks etc.). Obviously for motorbike you need a licence too and there are different categories (A1, A2 full A) for that to depending of the power of the bike and your age. Ps. look before hand where you want to stay and book it (campings/hotels). Especially southern Europe is a mad house in July/August when people are on holidays and it can be hard to find a place
When we lived in Germany I was in the Army we hired a very comfortable Mobile Home and drove from Bergen in Germany up to Vejle in Denmark back through Germany through Holland Belgium France to Cap d' Agde then back up to Bergen we took six weeks Jacqui my wife kept wanting to stop. But it was so much fun and European beaches really want to make you blush especially Cap d' Adge. Anyway as always great video you look a very cool couple when was it filmed please. If you going to sail around France especially the South Amanda will not require a Bikini ..........??????? 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Would be cool if you got *One of the really cool people.. like an astronaut, or someone who is a rarity in a good way.. to live in the boat with you for a couple nights or so.. and be able to interview them and hang with them. Would be nice for your audience, and could drive more followers, from their peeps.. and they could have new followers (if they applicable; maybe not which is fine too) but they could enjoy a few days on the ocean while you all learn new stuff about what and how they did it etc..
What about cost, is it more expensive to RV or Boat ? When are the bugs the worst, camping with an RV, boating, sitting/laying on the beach ? You could hire me to film on your boat.👍😎✌️
I have a friend who would make an excellent interview. His name is Thaddeus Bedford and his company is Liquid Image, Inc. He's an underwater videographer and would make for a very interesting interview.
Lol I noticed that too! He edited the audio, and sometimes if you let the program do it automatically it misinterprets little sounds as dialogue then tries to clean it up
Wow, did Bobby can’t make it sound like he wouldn’t be interested in marrying Amanda..? Personally, I think you should marry her Bobby if you’re going to travel the world with her and live with her, she should be you’re number one priority if not, we suspect you’ll have another sailing doodles partner in the future that’s just how that shit goes
