A carpenter is a qualified trades person in Australia who has completed their apprenticeship or obtained a certificate III in Carpentry through Study. A carpenter undertakes the practical work of a building project and working along with other trades to get all the practical elements of a build completed. A carpenter can work for themselves or be apart of a crew in a larger organization but is generally hands on, on the tools.
So a builder is someone who has progressed form a trades person in to managerial role. The main role of the builder is to quote, undertake and then monitor all aspects of the project until practical completion and hand over to the client. They will then be in charge of all trades people on the constructions project to make sure there work is completed to the required standard on time and with in the specified budget. To be a builder you need to have experience, be qualified, have all the required insurances and be licensed.

Hey, I’m waiting for my PR grant as a carpenter from Canada. Would I need 2 years experience in Aus with a licensed builder in order to apply for a builders license or could I use stat decs from builders in Canada (past employers).

Hi Melanny, an interior design course at TAFE is probably not the best course for PR. Feel free to give us an email on info@pathwaytoaus.com and we can look at different courses for you.

What does a builder earn a year roughly
@adsa3449

My cousin was a project manager for a few years and got his building license within the last 12 months. He will be clearing roughly 200k profit after completing 2 projects in his first year. His very knowledgeable though and works really hard long hours doing quotes, meeting new clients, doing all the paperwork so he puts in a huge effort to make that sort of money in his first year.

Hey man just wondering how much do you think a carpenter would be earning
@Pathwaytoaus
@Pathwaytoaus 3 года назад
Hi Cohen, so if you are on ABN (contracting), I would think you would get about $30 starting out, with an experienced carpenter taking home about $50 per hour
