Good info. That'd be cool if there was a unit that fed AC to the grid while also feeding DC to the battery. Maybe split the power 50/50.

Dc coupled your are limited by the hybrid inverter size. So at night time if your battery lets say 19.2kwh of storage which can supply 7kwh and your hybrid inverter is 5kwh your Max power to the home from the battery will be 5kwh. This is important on single phase especially if you are a high power user at night. Ac coupled works differently as your not limited by the hybrid inverter as it doesn't affect the power draw as the power comes directly from the battery. So if you had 2 x tesla powerwall 2 and each provide 5kwh of power you would have 10kwh of power available. On Dc coupled with a single phase house it doesn't make any difference how many batteries you have and the total kWh available as you will always be limited to 5kwh of the hybrid inverter. Another advantage of Ac coupled is that you are not affected as much when your solar system breaks down as Ac coupled batteries can still charge from the grid even when the solar isn't working which is good if your on a time of day tarrif. Dc coupled require the hybrid inverter to be working to charge the battery from the grid.

Your AC Coupled you explained is actually a Grid Parallel solution. Your DC COupled solution is just an inverter charger. AC Coupled is when your string inverter is on the ouitput of the inverter charger (not like you showed). A DC Coupled solution is when you have your solar panels connected directed to your batteries using a MPPT or PWM charger. Your sizing is incorrectly explained also. Yes, you can have 150% of solar to your inverter nominal rating but you will only ever provide its nominal power at most. That is, despite having 7,5kW of solar panels on a 5kW inverter, you will only ever get 5kW max out of it. Fronius is a great brand but I'm dissapointed with the incongruencies in this video.

I was hoping for confirmation that an Ac coupled solution can supply not only the string inverter kw but also the battery inverter kw simultaneously to a house. Ie if your solar system is generating 6kw and the inverter is rated at 6kw and the Ac coulled battery is full and 3kw then you can supply 9kw to the the house? Or at least this is what I have understood from previous research. Perhaps someone could confirm.

@@scottyboymu Hiya Scott, yes, you can consume energy in your home from both the AC Coupled Fronius inverter and also the batteries through the Victron inverter (from Batteries or MPPT solar chargers or both). You can also add passthrough from the grid and/or grid parallel inverters if required.

I agree. Most Modern inverters have PV curtailment features. We have a similar understanding of AC coupled and DC coupled PV systems. Ac coupled- we have a grid tied inverter with inverter chargers and a battery. The battery is connected to the inverter charger(let's say victron quattro),connected to critical load panel.The grid tied inverter is connected to the output of the inverter charger.

Please tell us. Is it possible that without batteries and without grid, the inverter can supply the AC load? If possble how the inverter will tell us to manage loads according to the power delivered by the Inverter?

4:04 i'm interested in DC coupled system where an inverter takes in battery directly. in this case, does it mean, PV panels with 6.6kW DC out to a 5kW-inverter, generating 5kW AC to the grid, while the remaining 1.6kW DC from PV can be stored in the battery?

I have a 5 KW system using Enphase IQ7+ micro inverters and enlighten for monitoring - Unfortunately the Enphase battery solution is not available in my country, so i was wondering if you can recommend me a few ac coupled battery solutions that i can use with my system. I quite like the Huawei Luna modular battery system, but not sure if it will work with my set up. Would appreciate any advise you can give.

Are the two methods of coupling batteries only for offgrid systems or they can be applied to ongrid systems as well? How can be configured an ongrid system when using energy stored in batteries not to inject in the grid, for example during night?

You can use AC or DC coupled set ups in offgrid, or grid tied. For a farm for example, a mix is the best. That is, you take a Victron Multiplus II for example and feed the grid in there which is where the batteries would be connected to. On the AC Output of that, you can install a Fronius Primo (for single phase) or a Symo (for a 3 phase set up). This is an AC Coupled set up. If you put the Fronius inverter between the grid and the Victron Energy Multiplus II, that would be a Grid Parallel set up. For DC Coupling, you would take one or several Victron Energy MPPT Solar Chargers and connect those to your DC Bus Bars (batteries). The advantage of this is, in case of a complete power failure and your batteries complety die, the MPPT can start up with sunlight, the string inverter (Fronius or other brand) needs the 240V to wake up which, if the batteries are dead and you don't have a generator or power from the grid, you have nothing. This is why a mix is the best set up. The Multiplus II is designed to ideally be Grid Tied but can accept a generator for example. For generator dependant or unreliable grids, your better off with a Victron Energy Quattro which works the same but has a transfer switch for your grid and generator inputs, and can start your generator automatically. I hope this helps.

I find it very difficult to actually buy a Fronius inverter. They seam to be out of stock everywhere I look. When do you expect to be able to keep up with demand? I live in Denmark.

I don't have a grid but I have 2 grid tied inverter of 6kw and a hybrid inverter of 6 kw Can I feed the grid tied inverter with the hybrid to simulate the grid and have a total of 18 kw

Hi Serge Sicard! INo, our hybrid inverters don’t support any additional generators within their backup power circuits. The hybrid inverter intentionally builds its backup power circuit with 53Hz instead of 50Hz, so that no other inverters synchronize to the circuit. To simulate a stable grid with multiple generators you would need additional third-party hardware. We can recommend the manufacturer Victron Energy.” Best regards, your Fronius Social Media Team

Why does AU limit people to 10kW of solar?? Other than to obviously keep people dependent on establishment-controlled grid? Really, what is their excuse?

Sorry but I could not help but think that it was an oversimplified presentation. There was NO mention of net-metering and the effects of power outage on either DC or AC coupled systems. But one of the biggest issues was what happens when a power outage takes place in the day time? Why can't the solar panels provide energy to the household with the use of an auto transfer switch that cuts power from being fed back to the grid? The present hybrid solutions rely on the battery bank during outage, which means that the power generated by the panels is NOT BEING USED? I request the Fronius Team to give a complete solution with effects of outage during day time. Looking forward to a fruitful discussion.

Why not provide full power available from the panels? Say if the installed power is 10kW ( based on STC values) and available PV power at peak timings, about 1230hrs is 7.5 kW, why can't the inverter provide 7.5 kW? Why the limitation of power? I would request a complete presentation on this topic along with the reasons.

Why does it take 60 to 90 seconds to switch over to battery in brown out/black out of grid AC even when not using any grid power? This makes your Fronius 6.0kW GEN24 PLUS with BYD a joke... most inverters are milliseconds no switch over loss of power... Explains why we still use grid power every day when the batteries never been flat and even when PV is generating... the system is so slow it uses grid power over actually using the battery or PV... that right PV charging the battery and will use Grid to run kettle ect for 20 to 30 seconds before using PV or battery... So will still get a bill for power...
