What are your thoughts on the current state of the meta? This is the first a few videos taking a deep dive into the state of Overwatch and the shielding stacking strategy.
worst meta ever. half of the dps are unplayable. and i thought i'd never say it but brig is too weak as a healer for healing not damage or self shielding.
Their "NYXL vs Vancouver Titans | Playoffs Week 3 | Day 3 - Overwatch League S2 Highlights" video (2019-09-14) left me thinking: *AOE tank ult is boosting (2) AOE mobile healers and shield-casting tank Sigma as they chase down the enemy team alongside (2) mobile, regenerating DPS heroes.* Sigma Orisa, Doomfist Reaper, Moira Lucio *It's a whole new Overwatch, with less hitscan aim required* - does the community want it?
@@trcs3079 Goats was the pick of overwatch in high ranks and pro scene theres tons more details, skills and ult management than double shield meta, and goats wasnt played all the time in rank games compared to orisa sima
@@trcs3079 No , this is much more boring and literally cancer for anyone that doesn't play Doom. Shooting shields is not fun and it's slow paced as well , Goats was a clusterfuck but shit was going down at least.
Steven Nguyen no. Goats was better. There’s literally nothing engaging about shooting at barriers all day. At least in goats I can play zen or zarya and still play an fps game.
I think the only way to even this is increasing the cooldown of both Orisa and Sigma. Not a lot, just a little bit. That way they still make this comp viable while also making sure that it has a skill requirement to it. As of now, the thing is idiot proof.
What they should do is make 6 stack queueing seperate. Have like a team SR or something, no role lock. Is it possible? Idk. Would it have really long queue times? Yes. Would it be healthy to the game? I'd say so, and I think it could really help the esports scene as well.
@@DirtyDoge Incredibly long queue times, incredibly hard to balance games, splits the player base between even more queues, wouldn't match the rule set of the standard competitive experience. Pretty much all negative.
Everything and anything they do to help benefit the game and its consumer base is always going to be met with negativity from this shitty community anyway. I think it would be nice for them to abandon support for this game already so you pussies really have something to cry about
Can I just say, your animation quality is unmatched. It makes the whole video feel incredibly polished. MASSIVE thanks and respect to your editing and animation sequences!
i mean i love to play sigma but being against double shield is so frustrating. i mean at least with goats you could feel like you were doing something. shooting shields all day long ain't a transcendent gameplay
me and my mate duo tanks Orisa/Sigma, I don't think we ever shot shileds. We usually combo halt + flux above enemy shields or on the side and then push agressivly through them. Only if we have a Bastion does it make sense to shoot shields, otherwise, we just use cds and walk through them (Reaper Mei Doom need to get close to enemies to be effective so shooting shields from afar is totally useless and helps nobody, if that's what you're doing whole the time no wonder you're not having fun)
Bastion is the only hero in this meta who actually actively shoots at shields. It is much quicker to simply walk through them and kill the enemy and always has been. The issue is that these two tanks have too much utility and sustain to die to previously popular flankers like Tracer and Genji, because they do too little damage and heroes like Doomfist and Reaper do way more, on top of having easier escape and engagement options.
You gotta take angles. Shooting at shields is utterly pointless with double shield meta unless you're Sym or Bastion. However, I don't disagree. Playing DPS is awful in this current meta, either you bunker and play defensively or you play really riskily for little reward in comparison, not to mention defense can play poorly and still win fights cuz double shield is so strong.
Besides bastion it makes true hitscan heroes nearly unplayable, which is why we are seeing a lot of reaper who can risk pushing in with doomfist nearly every game in OWL. Personally not a fan even as a tank main
We can all agree that the script is great, but can we talk about the video production for a moment? The "cutscene" at 5:04 was INCREDIBLE, the synchronization when all characters arrive is just perfect, and the way they use the camera angles and the part of their map they're in is worthy of the highest value TV production. This videos are simply great.
Sigma needs shield management so he won't get hit as much, i main sigma and I've seen how fast it takes to break his shield. All you need to do is get up close with him so you can get past his shield
Well what OW devs didn't realize is that Orisa's kit makes her hahrd to balance. Shield on a cooldown in this game basically eliminates the leeway of balance unless it is on a hard-tech hero.
No it isnt, just make her fortify have less uptime or reduce the damage it reduces. she was also brought into the spotlight by dps buffs making ttk so fast and she was always the best tank at holding a barrier down. She has a cc that can be comboed with alot of abilities be it tank or dps or even some support abilities like nade. She then is absurdly hard to kill with her fortify along with all the healing before she puts another barrier down and sigmas barrier also helps her out but it isnt necessarily to completely shield stack.
Overall pretty good, though one little nitpick I'd say is that Moira is mainly chosen for her survivability not her consistent healing, at least at the pro level. Since at the pro level, they can make do with pretty much any support duo, the main reason Moira is picked is because she has the highest chance of surviving all the nonsense that the enemy is throwing at you (Reaper flanks/ults, Doomfist's entire kit, Orisa/Sigma combos, etc). Fade is just extremely powerful. A side benefit is a fast-charging ult that goes through barriers.
Akshon Esports:puts one rising of the shield hero clip at the beginning of the video Me:ah i see that you're a man of culture as well (Props to you if you get the reference)
Surprised Symmetra wasn’t mentioned as a normal DPS pick. She blasts through enemy double shields and supplies another versatile shield with her ultimate
I would give Sigma two nerfs. The first is to Experimental Barrier. It currently has *no* cooldowns for deployment and recall. So give it some. Make it have to be deployed for at least one second before it can be recalled (cooldown starts when the shield stops moving), require a minimum one-second downtime between recall and projection, and require at least three seconds total after being projected before it can be projected again (cooldown starts when the shield is launched). This is intended to be akin to the cooldown for DVa's Defense Matrix before she can raise it again after dropping when she still has charge for it. The second is to Accretion, and this is a defensive buff and as well as an offensive nerf. Currently Accretion neither takes nor block damage. Shots that hit the accretion currently pass through. That should change. Let incoming shots which hit the Accretion do damage to it, chipping away at the rock and reducing its impact damage at 1:1 (at least to start), and reducing its knockdown/stun time proportionally. Also let it be CC'd. If it hits a Reinhardt Charge, Doomfist Rocket Punch, or Brigitte Shield Bash head on, the Accretion is destroyed and the other hero gets the shorter of either the Accretion CC or the standardized knockdown associated with mutual impact between these three abilities. Also let it be yanked by Orisa's Halt, and deflected by Pharah's Concussion Blast, with the latter doing the same damage to it that it does to breakable scenery such as the floor of the Petra courtyard. While we're at it, buff Concussion Blast so that it either does knockback to free-standing shields - specifically buffing Pharah against Sigma, Orisa, and possibly Winston (maybe limit the effect to hitting the inside of the bubble, or apply it to the projector being in the blast rather than impact with the shield itself) - but not held shields, such as Reinhardt's and Brigitte's... or does impact damage to all barriers, akin to what it does to breakable scenery. The game-world logic for knockback would be that it applies to the free-standing projector rather than the shield itself, which can justify doing the same for Brigitte's Shield Bash, giving Brigitte a small utility buff against Orisa and Sigma in exchange for her previous nerf of barriers stopping Shield Bash. Going the impact-damage route against all barriers again justifies a corresponding buff for Brigitte, though in her case it would likely have to rebound as damage to her own barrier. And also enable Sombra to hack free-standing barriers directly, again justified as hacking the projector rather than the shield itself - not a complete disable like EMP does, but maybe a two-second flickering effect, during which beams get their damage reduced by some percentage, and hitscan and projectile shots have a percentage chance of penetrating outright.
@@darkwolf1739 not kill him. Just bring him into balance. Make him vulnerable so that, like Mercy and DVa before him, he's no longer an overly-decisive must-pick.
I don't understand how people didn't realise a shield tank with a Swiss Army knife of disruption and defences combined with pretty decent DPS and range for a tank WASN'T going to be brilliant.
I’m a Doomfist main because half the character the other half the discord community. We learn loads of new tricks together like diags etc and love how he’s meta
