The Italians did have a tough time in America. At one point they were lynched at higher rate then black people. However; people from western Europe were granted huge agricultural lands in the Midwest and were greeted with open arms.

I just want to say to my Somali American brothers and sisters that yes your people are Somali, but you are American so your people are also Americans who live here with you. Back then I discovered I am American from going to Laos. Yes they are Hmong people there, I do think of them as kind of my people too, but they told me if their country and my Country “America” fought they will not hesitate to kill me in battle. So they want me to know that I am American and that is a part of me so my people should be where I live.

That's only some, very few people get economic assistance from the gov. once they arrive. Most families I've seen, among my own 30 years ago slept in homeless shelters and many still have to "pull themselves up by the bootstrap". Either way, Somalis are among the hardest working group of immigrants in MN.
Of course 40 percent are usa born. You bring in a few dozen Somalis and you'll have millions of us born Somalis by Christmas, especially if they're all cousins.

Somalis are leaving Minnesota to go to Canada : Windsor,,Toronto,Vancouver,Calgary and alsoleaving Minnesota to work live in Florida,Texas,Las Vegas,Phoenix,Arizona, California,Seattle,Washington. Many SOmalis living in Houston,Dallas,San Antonio,Texas and in Orland and ,Jacksonville in Florida, many in Atlanta ,Georgia.
