You can actually enter a code in Brawl Brothers to play the Japanese version. So, no need to buy it when you already have the American one.

Oculed1 to play as the easier japanese version, sequentially and repeatedly press b, a, x, y at the white screen with the jaleco logo until it disappears. if done right, you'll arrive at a glitched screen. now, press start, then down three times and start again. you'll be at the options screen and when you exit, you'll see the japanese title screen. now start your game and enjoy the original version of the game.

Coming from someone that has sunk countless hours into Brawl Brothers and The Peace Keepers. The only way TPK is superior to BB is visually. Those big beautiful spites are really something. And Echo’s legs. 😈 But for real, mechanically compare the two side by side and it’s no contest. BB has MUCH better collision detection, and the combat just flows smoother and is faster than in TPK. Plus if you’re on a roll in BB, you can hit motherfuckers while they are on the ground. Something they took away in TPK and it feels like a speed bump if you’re getting your brawl on. ANYWAY. I love both games. Great review.

Here's the code many of you were mentioning for Brawl Brothers: To play as the easier Japanese version, sequentially and repeatedly press B, A, X, Y at the white screen with the Jaleco logo until it disappears. It should be mentioned that each respective Rushing Beat title has _MASSIVE_ changes made to them when they were localized into English, both in terms of gameplay and story. - Rushing Beat has a full-fleged story that was removed in Rival Turf. On top of that, Rival Turf has massive hit detection issues that aren't present in Rushing Beat as well as changing the ethnicity of Oozie Nelson (Douglas Bild in Rushing Beat) - Brawl Brothers has the least amount of changes compared to the other Rushing Beat games, but they set the default difficulty higher than what it was in Rushing Beat Ran, turned of Ikari/Angry mode by default and again changed Oozie/Douglas' ethnicity. English copies of Brawl Brothers actually have the original Rushing Beat Ran included on them accessable via a cheat code, but some minor changes like Oozie/Douglas' ethnicity were still altered. - The Peace Keepers/Rushing Beat Shura has the most drastic changes compared both of the previous titles. The Peace Keepers removed most of the music in the game, removed an entire enemy type, removed the game's genuinely deep story, set the game's music to off by default and the list goes on, all of which were included in Rushing Beat Shura. While the games are all similar, saying that the main difference between the games is just changes to music and stuff is a misnomer. The Rushing Beat games are some of the best beat-em-up games around and are worth checking out apart from their English counterparts.

I remember getting Peace Keepers as a random gift from my dad and it was a pretty fun game for an 8 year old. Branching paths with unlockable characters throughout the story was pretty intriguing for its time since most games don't have that feature in the SNES beat em up lineup that I can think of.
@TheMixedPlateFrequency

The Rushing Beat Shura is the true way to play Peacekeepers lol. I had no idea how much stuff was gutted out in Peace Keepers until i tried Shura years later. I also liked how they identified the Protagonist in this game and gave him like a Super Saiyan Power up. One thing I thought was really unique with this beat em game was that it had special inputs for specific moves for each character. Like most beat em ups all the commands and inputs and attacks are roughly the same, but this game actually did a good job making different moves for them.

love the channel as always man. I appreciate that you can express why it is ok to enjoy beat em ups and how they can be. It has always been one of my favorite genres. The country music and Death Metal analogy was good too. No point comparing butter to yogurt. Yeah, someone will have a preference over the other but they are both edible and should be enjoyed for their individual perks. Anywho, I f'ing love Brawl Brothers and Peace Keepers. I still have my cartridge of Peace Keepers. Glad. kept that bad boy. Also, loved how you could unlock characters depending on how you progressed and what path you took. Man, nobody makes games like this anymore. I had always hoped Jaleco would one day make another Rushing Beat game. Should would look great on the Switch. :)

Ok, I believe I have EVERYTHING about The Peacekeepers that made it such a watered-down port. The Japanese version, Rushing Beat Shura doesn’t have non of these issues, so please play that version instead. It’s so much better. -Biggest one, NO MUSIC on lvls, you have to 1st manually enable the music in the options -Missing tons of Background music tracks -Removed color edit for character select -Removed name edit for character select -Difficulty settings removed -Game’s balance is uneven -slower paced -Enemies take longer to kill -Watered down plot and dialogue -Enemies were giving bland names -Inferior endings -Digitized faces for the character select screen

I actually found out about this series when I ran into Brawl Brothers about a decade ago (damn, it's already been that long??) when I was looking up stuff for the then-upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl, lmao. Though they're fine, middle-of-the-road beat 'em ups, the music is what set them apart to me. It's really good, and some of the most "snes-y" soundtracks ever made, if that makes sense.

You can play the original Japanese version of Rushing Beat 2 with the American Brawl Brother cartridge by doing a special code: When you turn on the SNES with the cartdrige inserted, sequentially and repeatedly press B, A, X, Y at the white screen with the Jaleco logo until it disappears. If done right, you'll arrive at a glitched screen. Now, press Start, then Down three times and Start again. You'll be at the options screen and when you exit, you'll see the Japanese title screen. Now start your game and enjoy the original version of the game.

The last game actually had a lot of endings, story paths to get to said endings, and some significant story bits per route. Some of the comments made in this video are borderline defamatory. Its true though beat em ups are their own kind of fun though, but anything but without skill. If this was true you would've beat them all the first playthrough, and let's face it....You know you didn't....
@vietcong411
@vietcong411 4 года назад
I don't think he did peace keepers justice in this review. More than 2 endings. You could edit pretty much every characters rgb colors. The most amount of branching in a beatem up to date. Flyns transformation. In depth story with some interesting twists. IMO the best beat em up.
@Jack-nj9pi
@Jack-nj9pi 3 года назад
@@vietcong411 that game is what started the fall of beat em ups. The color change may be cool but who cares its a beat em up not a fighting game. The branching paths adds replayability but the game is missing like so much shit from the japan counter part and the fight mechanic sucks big time. Brawl brothers was a step in the right direction while peace keepers was not. The story was a big meh after dealing with everything like come did u see the girls ending lol was so ridiculous far from the best beat em up its decent at best

Actually, Rival Turf! Was pretty dope, it had a pretty cool sdtk, and since it’s so basic, I use this for my kids as a “go to” Beat em up game along with Bare Knuckle. Give it a chance.. yes it’s a Final Fight rip off, and yes the cover stuck WAAAY out when looking at it at the Blockbuster Video game section, but it IS a classic. 😉
@MegaRayland
@MegaRayland 4 года назад
arcadeMcfly Saying it’s a “Final Fight rip-off” always bothered me. It’s like saying Daytona USA was a rip-off of Pole Position or Super Mario Bros a rip-off of Pitfall simply because the base mechanics are the same. EVERY beat-em-up was the same at the time (1-4 characters beating the crap out of waves of enemies). That was the fun of them. Rival Turf was good. Memorable? Certainly not, but it was enjoyable. And as part of the first generation of SNES games, specially after the Final Fight single player fiasco, it was great having a solid two player beat-em-up to play. As an early game it looked good as well.
