Most acceptable interpretation considering what the Apostle is teaching regarding having confidence in going to God in prayer and God answers. And in the context to not expect God to answer prayer for restoration but exercise His prerogative of disciplining a rebellious believer with physical death. And yes God has taken the lives of many. In fact all die because all sin. And God has established that as a principal. Appreciate your explanation, agree 100 % Have spent the past 1 1/2 years studying and teaching 1 John.

The most acceptable to who? Certainly not the leaders of the early Christian Church! Sin unto death spoken of by John is easily explained if you know what he was referring to: Numbers 15:28-31 Read it from the NIV and KJV and you will see that this also explains Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit that Jesus speaks of in Matthew 12:31. Go and sin no more.

I don’t think that really answers the question. What exactly is a sin that leads to death & a sin that does not lead to death? And the reason we don’t pray isn’t because our prayers won’t be ineffective but because they are effective & Satan cannot destroy the flesh if we are asking God to protect them. Either that or this is referring to suicide (see Judas Iscariot) & we shouldn’t pray for the dead.

I don’t know if that’s what’s being said here, specifically because he says for us to pray for one another about sin that doesn’t lead to death, but if we commit a sin, or the sin, that does lead to death, then… he’s not saying we should bother praying about that. Which is what he says. If we pray for one another about sins that don’t lead to death, how much MORE should we pray for one another regarding sin that DOES lead to death. But in this case, John’s like… “Meh… I’m not saying you should bother praying for that. Only the sins that don’t lead to death.” Because of that, I think it’s talking about being an unbeliever, because this is the same short book where he’s talking about those who left us were never of us. They left because, in truth, they were actually unbelievers. I think in this case, that’s what he’s talking about.

1 John 5:16 There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. What is the sin that John is referring to? Genesis 3:3: God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ How to interpret that? Should we stop eating that fruit? The main sin in this particular case is Adam and Eve did not use their free will to do God’s will. Notice that Eve had free will even before eating the apple as she could decide on her own whether to eat it or not and ditto for Adam. So we cannot pray to ask God to let us do our own will e.g. asking God to make us millionaires (this is our will). Why will God only accept those who do His will? [interesting question!] We can use the analogy of a boat in which several persons are rowing. If each one is rowing in different directions then the boat will simply turn in circles or go in the wrong direction. However, if all is following one Leader and have faith that He is leading us in the right direction then we will surely progress. Similarly, corporates have mission statements and policies that are designed to lead the organisations on a single path. For forgiveness of sin, we should do as Jesus asked us to do in the Lord’s prayer.

This is the interpretation as I understand it, and that seems to satisfy my soul. I find it very difficult to believe that the Holy Spirit brings people to the narrow door which leads to life and then drops them. I think John MacArthur‘s interpretation is that this is basically what happens because people come to the very point of conversion. And then reject it. But all sinners are in that position. Anyway. We are Sinners and are in the position of rejecting God and Christ before God intervenes in our lives, and in his sovereignty, grants us, the gift of faith in him. John MacArthur’s interpretation seems to me very very close to the fact that you can lose your salvation, which I believe the Bible clearly shows cannot happen. So I believe that the sin unto death is when and a truly born-again person; God in his mercy, takes them to be with him in heaven as a chastised son. God forgive me if I’m wrong.

No it’s not, the unforgivable sin was committed only in the time, when Jesus Christ was on earth, performing miracles. The Pharisees, with their own eyes by Jesus, performing those miracles they denied the godly power of Christ miracles. Therefore it was there act that was unforgivable, because it was the son of God in their face, doing holy miracles of God and them not admitting it, and attributed it to a source was the unforgivable sin. The sin of the death and the unforgettable sin are not even in the same time frame.

Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from *acts that lead to death*, and of faith in God, Hebrews 6:1 NIV It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. did i hear this guy right? he actually said that a born again believer can purposely sin and do so sooo much that God cant permit such a "purposely sinful believer" to continue so God kills the person so he can take him on to heaven, and also that a born again believer who returns to living a life of unrepentent sin can rest assured that when they die in that state, heaven will be their eternal home? The " unpardonable sin ", " the sin that leads unto death ", and " blasphemy against the Holy Spirit" are the same thing said different ways. Ananias and Saphire WAS NOT saved! Otherwise God would not have struck them down! There's no condemnation for those who are in Christ! The unpardonable sin is rejecting Christ. The proof is all throughout scrioture. The " once saved, always saved " belief is a lie from the enemy. That's why we are to hold fast to our confession. We ALWAYS have free will! The same way that we are free to accept Christ, we are free to reject Christ! Your spirit being sealed is contingent on you believing in Christ. All other sins can be forgiven. A person living a life of sin WILL NOT get them sent to hell because their sins were washed away at the very moment they accepted Christ. We are saved by grace and not by works. CHRIST DID IT ALL. Religion is man's attempt to get right with God through works. Religious traditions and doctrines of men makes the word of none effect. A believer MUST have revelation of the gospel of Christ to understand this.

1 John is written by a Jew to Jews. Where it says "sees a "brother" he is NOT referring to a born again believer in Christ, he is referring to his "brethren according to the flesh (Rom 9:3). There is A sin that IS unto death IS NOT talking about "physical death." Being born under Adam everyone already dies physically. All sins are forgivable, "except" denying the power of Gods work through the Holy Spirit." (Mark 3:29) Who denies the power of the third Person of the trinity, the Holy Spirit? Those who reject the efficacious and autonomous power of the Godhead to do with His creatures as He wills, specfically in His elect. Hebrews 6:4-6 - For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

You're not acquainted with biblical language, it seems. Death - in the new testament language - is the separation from God and the opposite of life eternal. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Berean Standard Bible Romans 5:21 So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Berean Standard Bible John 5:24 Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life. Berean Standard Bible
@uncreatedlogos
@uncreatedlogos Год назад
@@JC-li8kk Additionally, the whole context of this passage clearly indicates that he is talking about the second death. 1 John 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin, yet there is sin that does not lead to death. BSB Why would he need to say that? Isn't it obvious? Of course I don't die if I steal something. Of course I don't die if I commit adultery or other sexual crimes. 1 John 5:16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he should ask God, who will give life to those who commit this kind of sin. There is a sin that leads to death; I am not saying he should ask regarding that sin. BSB He gives life. It's about eternity here. Don't be stupid and deny the obvious.

I do not understand. With respect brother, my bible under 1st John 5:16 states “If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I am not saying that he should pray about that.” But you say at 1:43 in your video that 1st John 5:16 say "there comes a point when God can no longer allow ...". Do we have the same bibles? Moroever I have no clear indication as what a sin unto death is. Of all the interpretations out there, none seem to answer all the questions concerning this verse.If our Lord takes the life of a believer as in sin unto death, then that believer goes straight to heaven, does not have to work hard as a tax slave for guvment, leaves the evil world, does not get old and decrepit, ugly or decay, or has to spent his final years in nappies with strangers changing them.
