In a machine civilization, "The Matrix", and all of it's sub-systems, would itself just be a sub-system devoted to the maintenance and development of bio-energy (Humans). I'd imagine that the actual civilization would be much much greater. With this in mind, it would be good to temper our ideas about it. Not every "machine" would inherently be a part of the Matrix. Most machine entities would view the Matrix as the counselor viewed the water recycler, "I can't tell you how it works. All I know is that we depend on it." Thus implicitly suggesting that the machines depend on the humans, which depend on the machines, etc.

Possible but the main difference is Neo gave him self to the source willingly. Smith fought back with his new neo powers to stay in the matrix. Smith is an AI and as we know in this universe, the AI have individual conscious to certain extent.
@MatrixExplained, neo didnt go back to the source, neo went back to the matrix, The Architect said: "there are 2 doors the door to your right leads to the source and the salvation of zion, the door to the left leads back to the matrix, to her and to the end of your species" and we all know he chose the left leading to the matrix and trin but not to the end of the species in this case which was the big gamble, even if he died at the end of revolutions and is revived in this new movie he still carries admin credentials becuase they couldnt disseminate the code cause he wasnt conscious meaning he still has admin access, he just doesnt know it, that also explains why trin is back either as a human or a program to make him remember his admin access, even thought he might have connection to the source it could be like a free wifi connection or possibly limited conectivity thats could be why he fainted he lost connection or was denied of it cause he didnt go back to the source as expected

Neo went back to The Matrix. You're right. Neo is nr 2. (room number 101 =2, 2 grand for Choi and 2 hours late. He needed the 5, the lady in the toilet (rest room). Kissing is getting her power. Neo is not dead. He is shown as gold code being picked up as by the machine & being taken from veiw. Gold code means his info has become part of the source code, or in other words he is a worm program that has or is changing the core (source) program. His gold colour indicates the core program has accepted the changes of this new coding.
It could be as simple as editor's error. It could also mean more, after all, Oracle explains her change of appearance due to a decision she made that cost her more than she wanted to. Neo claims he recognises bits and pieces. So, the green appearance could be explained by that. What happened to the 'gold' code then would be interesting.

If the Oracle was connected to the mainframe. Then how did Smith not gain access to it after assimilating the Oracle? He wouldn't have to return to it as a deleted/obsolete program, but instead he'd have a virtual backdoor to it.
Whew! Amongst all of these existential theories, I have a far simpler question. Neo was able to fly, to fight numerous agents all at once and not even get a scratch. In fact the only time I remember him suffering an actual cut was in Reloaded when he stopped the sword with his hand. So, why the he’ll can’t he run like the Flash? Or Superman? That always bothered me like a pebble in my shoe. It would’ve helped him in quite a few instances!
I was stationed in Korea when the first movie came out. So I never saw it, or even heard about it, till a year or 2 later. So I rented the VHS from Blockbuster and watched it with no clue what it was about. When he woke up in that tank my mind was blown. Similarly to how it feels now learning all this new information I just totally never got originally.
I think the meeting between the Oracle and the Architect at the end of Revolutions subtly sums up the goal of the Oracle. The Oracle asks the Architect if the others will be allowed to leave. The Architect says yes. Then the Oracle asks him if she has his word. He laughs with contempt, rhetorically asking her if she thought he was human. The Oracle was teasing the Architect when she asked for his word. The Architect is a program with a function -- he is not supposed to have individualism and agency. He is not supposed to make personal choices. The goal of the Oracle was to give programs and humans agency and personhood. Hence why she cares so much for Sati. She is a program born without a function. She is the start of a REVOLUTION.

A little problem with this explanation, according to the EMP attack through Neo's hand. When Trinity and Neo reaches the machines' city, lots of robots attack them and Neo can destroy them from afar with the same technique he used earlier. But this time they are far away and also, Neo does not faint. Somehow became immune to EMP?
I always wanted to see the machine city see what goes on there. Are there more sentient AI there? Different from the octopus machines? It's a shame we don't know more about it.

I thought of the emp scene as neo writing code, an emp would not have cut their momentum, they stop and react. I never got the connecting without a connection bit, I'm not sure wifi existed when the matrix came out, to me anyhow, but yeah I'd say a wifi system that is somehow observing neo and the rest directly the whole time, I don't think any of neos hardware was sending, and I don't think static in the air was carrying the signal necessarily, but I think the God program was monitorinh everyone the whole time, I don't like the matrix in a matrix theory, but I feel zion was monitored somehow.
Matrix within a matrix... this is maybe a little nuanced, but I lean towards the idea that it was not so much a matrix within a matrix, but more that Neo and co actually never even left the matrix. Instead, after taking the red pill, they transitioned to, if you like, a different scene in the same matrix. The sentinels and Zion are in this scenario no more real than anything in the green-world matrix. We can see that in the Zion-world everything is still written in matrix code, some of it now in gold instead of green. This Zion world includes the illusion of containing the machinery of the green world as an entity that can be plugged into and interacted with, but this entity is no more real than anything else in the Matrix. Meanwhile, the real world would be presumably still out there, somewhere and somehow, but as yet we have not been introduced to it and perhaps never need to be. This way of looking at the matrix-world/real-world arrangement sidesteps to some degree some of the mind-bending recursion that otherwise presents itself, i.e. that of having the matrix exist literally within another matrix, within any number of further layers of matrix. Also, since in this theory there is one overarching Matrix, your idea of a "god program" sits far more naturally. Of course this is just one of many theories, and I think this one has been around for a good while.

Yep! The Machines were always the victims. However, I do believe the Machines were Corrupted by Humanity sometime soon after Humanity initiated their genocidal war against The Machines. Looking at the presumed-to-be-Architect in his/it's physical body in the UN's Headquarters in The Animatrix it would seem to me that he became Corrupted through unknown means. Which is why the Machines' Logic became increasingly more functionally broken as the Machine War dragged on.
Yeah in the beginning machines were just slaves. But as they advanced in technology they exhibited free will. The machines wanted freedom. But the governments and a lot of people didn't like this. Saying machines are just property. So the machines built there own city. 01. It took over the world's economy. Then all hell broke loose and this started the war. Over time the machines got less human and more animalistic. Eventually resulting in the Matrix being created. Humans being tested. Then turned into crops. It's kinda like Karma. What goes around comes around.

And I think that beyond the door the Merovingian french man closes. Leads to another illegal server. The corridor that has all those backdoors is another server. An access server. Totally Ergo Proxy with a touch of Aeon Flux and Evangelion to accentuate the inhuman violence, ill buy it as a good origin theory. Neo gets told his path is the same as the path of a program, like he's some hybrid construction. He could choose to end it at any point but as punishment he's stuck with the main responsibility. He can't leave the cycle or both sides die off.
I can't help think that Neo and trinity will team up with the Maravingian. Neo and co where only at odds with Marv because the needed the key maker who Marv did not want to give up. The only reason we preceved Marv as a treat was because the Oracle said he was dangerous...of course she did as Marv was a threat to her and the system of control. Marv and the humans both seek freedom from the machine world. Marv said that Neos predasessors had much more respect which may indicate that Neos predasessors may have worked with Marv to some mutual benefit...which we may see Neo and co do in the next installment.
All programs were supposed to return to the source. The door "leading to the salvation of zion" is a fake and the architect also only told neo what he needed to hear to fulfill his purpose. Smith is neos counterpart, "the equation trying to balance itself". Neo is the one, so is smith. The one is two and smiths code has return to the source as well before the matrix can reload. Which is what happened when smith assimilated neo when neo was jacked in at the sourcey

So, given that the Oracle said that "programs that break down or are to be replaced by better one can go underground or to the Source", then says Neo must go to the Source. Does this mean Neo is due for replacement by a newer version, or that he's breaking down?
Possibly breaking down in the Machines' sense of functionality. The Sixth Neo, our current Neo, probably was exhibiting far too many signs of truly Waking Up. As such regaining too much of his Free Will. So sending him through a variety of Matrix Gauntlets to give him the sense that there is true danger. When in reality those variety of Gauntlets are just Tests to break his Free Will at least enough to get him to turn off his brain when it came to his session of Twenty Questions with The Architect.
It’s not clear if Neo’s prime program changes from version to version, but I imagine it does change to reflect any changes in the Matrix from version to version.
The Oracle is just the mouth of Seraph when neo sees her code as a golden code it is seraph projecting his code onto her in order to protect that witch is most important himself. He is the Oracle thats why when agent smith takes over the Oracle lady she appeared as a green code because seraph was not projecting his code onto her notice how the Oracle and seraph never speak at the same time seraph is always silent watching her while she speaks and she looks to seraph before revealing any information to neo. Because seraph is showing her what to say with his mind
Is the source feeding dreams to Neo through his implanted hardware? Seems like this is how they would do it. To continue to maintain a measure of control and steer Neo where they want him to go.
I really want to believe that the new upcoming sequel is going to be a great movie. I really do. However, considering that The Matrix was a trilogy...and considering the countless number of other previous good movies or franchises that recently released shameless and terrible new sequels, remakes, or reboots that were nothing more than mindless, talentless, and shamefully obvious cash-grabs...well let me just say that I'm more than a little leery. If the machines want Neo to return to the source, why have him meet the architect & give him the choice to not do that & did the previous Ones also have that meeting & choice or did going through the door take them directly to the source?
A perfect example of how I belivee she was forced to send him to his death as another way to keep herself from being killed by the architect! Yet it also helps him to get a chance meeting with him too.
I think a new anomaly is justified. I would definitely like to see a grown up Sati to play the part, because 1) it would give continuation to previous story and 2) Sati already shows great powers and human quality of love. Influences from her parents.
