Lindsay Mendez, Alli Mauzey & the 10th anniversary cast perform "What Is This Feeling?" from WICKED on The Today Show (Oct 30, 2013). Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz
Ali Mauzy is such a legend. I found her version of Glinda to be so perky and very comical but sweet at the same time. I admire how she communicated Glinda’s arc from a somewhat shallow and immature young woman to a leader. The physicality she used is what helped signal that to me. She’s so awesome!!! It seems like there’s so many directions you can take for these roles and while I love other Glinda’s such as Ginna Claire Mason and Amanda Jane Cooper, Ali’s Glinda sticks out to me a lot after all this time!!
Whenever Alli's voice breaks in the beginning, I always grin. Not because I am scornful, but because it shows that even amazingly talented people can mess up a little.
well, the idea is that they don't know what that feeling is... so they assume it's loathing, just like everyone at Shiz likes to think it is and they go along with it. But it really wasn't, my friend.. Hence, "What is this feeling" was a clever go
Why is the ensemble miming to the CD version? It's like they removed Idina's and Kristen's vocals for the leads to sing but kept the ensemle vocals in it.
Logistics... Reduces the number of required wireless mics, soundchecks, and equipment that needs to be brought in. @ channels is easier to mix than 9 on the street
They’re good but I still far prefer idina and Kristen just some of the little things , you can tell this Glinda’s voice is forced chenowith has a more natural sounding nasal and you kinda have to miss the sharpness of idinas voice but they are decent as recasts nonetheless
In my opinion this was Lindsay Mendez's worst role, don't get me wrong I love her, but I think she could of done more with her character. Also, I think it was just the wrong part for Alli, she does better in soulful songs.
Eh she rocked Screw Loose in crybaby, I think she was absolutely perfect as Glinda. Lindsay was also great, one of the best Elphaba because of her powerful acting & strong voice...
I think Lindsay has done way more characterisation with Elphaba than any other Elphaba actress. And there’s no need to pin point actresses to specific roles or songs. I can sing soulful sounds and musical songs like this but no one ever believes I can because I sing soulful songs sometimes. It’s quite annoying actually.
Well... Lindsay is one of the favorite Elphabas out there but... for some reason I don't like her I feel like she overacts a little bit and I like other kind of voices
hazel ventura they were probably told to play it up for the cameras. OR the acting isn't translating well on camera. Stage acting is a hella lot different from film acting after all
