I was at this concert, I was 18 and you know this is very good at the time, but its only now that you realise it was the best of the best. As you say; Epic They were all on top of their game and played like this for two hours! We were totally finished watching it (We were a row or two back from the people you could see clapping, I tried to chat up the dark haired girl, unsuccessfully) but they looked like they could carry on for more. They are all fantastic musicians, but Terry Williams on the drums was the surprise, you won't see better live drumming, there is a story that his father was there and it made him more energised, but he always played like that! Great reaction Your next Dire Straights reaction has to be Telegraph Road, from Alchemy, it was the encore.
Mark Knopfler is left handed and learned to play right handed so he didn't look different from other guitar players. He's self taught and plucks the strings with the tips of his fingers and thumb. The drummer, Terry Williams' father was there to see him live for the first time.
One of the best live concerts ever. Be sure to watch Telegraph Road. Also "Tunnel of Love live Wembley" is fantastic. Dire Straits were one of the bands that were better live than in the studio. Especially with this line-up (with the great Terry Williams on drums) they were absolutely first class
Saw them in Glasgow- i was at the very front & it was AMAZING!! I love that this music appeals to ALL ages & its simply timeless...proper musicians at the top of their game!!❤❤
Epic performance! So much improvisation, and the band members were totally in sync with each other. Nothing like watching great musicians enjoying themselves on stage. Glad you played this version and great reaction.
This is one of the greatest performances ever from anyone. Mark Knopfler was untouchable during this time. I would always advise listening to the studio version then the live version from Dire Straits so you can see how the song develops.
