Haha, absolutely know what you're saying, but I am a big fan of off-shoulder casting, just always enjoyed it 😂 I'm fine casting with switched hands, but hate the feel of managing the line and stripping without switching back. Each to their own I guess! 😉 Tight lines!

I'm pretty new to this and have had only a day or two on the river. What's the benefit of switching hands to cast off the other shoulder vs. casting off the wrong shoulder? I have tried both but I am still very uncoordinated either way 😆

I cast off my opposite shoulder when the needs of river flow and wind and I use two hands. I'm interested in what you mean " Learn to cast properly with both hands". I'm in my mid 70's and have been doing this for quite a long time. I consider the art and technique of being able to cast 'off hand' is a real bonus at times. Maybe you should explain yourself a little and tell something about yourself to give some creds to your comment, I'm sure people would like to know this.

Barrie Barnes instead of casting with your right hand on top, reverse hands so the left hand is on top and right on the bottom. Cast on the other side of your body, ie reversed, so that it is a normal cast but left sided. By the way I don’t do this.

Awesome, glad you enjoyed it. For normal floating fly lines going a line weight over can make it easier when you start out for sure. However I wouldn't recommend it for skagit lines like these for spey casting. The lines are very different. The manufacturers like OPST have a line chart and that's the best way to choose a line to match your rod for these lines. Hope that helps. Tight lines

Not a great deal of difference but the short taper and thin running line with sink tip of the skagit lines is designed to cast pretty big streamers easily with little or no room behind you and swing them deep and slow. The spey casts are very similar to a roll cast as well but just work very effectively with these lines. A friend of mine uses a normal floating line and sink tip casting overhead or roll casting with streamers. It works well too but it's a bit of different style more focused on a retrieve rather than a swing, hitting very specific spots in the river. While the skagit lines can be overhead cast as well I find it a bit clunky. They do work well on both single handed and double handed setups though. There are a few other videos on my channel about this as well. Hope you find that useful. I will be doing another video with Simon soon going into more detail about trout spey. Let me know if you have more questions you would us to cover.

It's interesting to hear how different devices handle the music. I edit with headphones and find I used to make things too soft so when I was watching on my phone I couldn't hear, even at full volume. Now I edit based on the audio levels given on the software I use. The music is more to compliment the footage rather than the talking as it goes well with it, but it should not be drowning out the talking. I will try to mix it better next time.
