What is Wrong with Indian Stand Up Comedy ? 

@Shatakshi Sharma This has just reached another level. Even Indian movies spew such content in the guise of comedy. The lewd comments on female actors in movies is what a larger than life heroes do in movies. In one scene they put a heavy weight feminist scenes and the next shot would be hero romancing in an unimaginable way. Yes, it's a serious problem. Youth is taking this lightly. When one takes such things lightly it will be normalized. It's very important to set boundaries in personal, professional and social lives. Indian government banned p**n for a reason. The impact on economy is huge. In a country where high unemployment rates and high inflation rates with millions of graduates stay unemployed every year, you are popularizing p**n sends a dangerous message to the faint hearted and desperate people struggling in poverty. This is a strong issue, and I support you in this.

thankyou mam, this is so inspiring & eye-opening, infact yesterday night my roomates(IITB) were discussing on this issue. It's really an highest awareness in our today's society where people forgot the difference between immoral vs cool kinky stuffs!!

Anti-national is a huge term. For eg supporting Pakistani talent or mentioning them in their script and then expect that public should understand. This is completely not OK. But talking about mental health, violence, is completely fine except hPORN(it harms you in the ways you can't even think). So normalising watching hPORN is unacceptable. It can affect your brain like hell. And it's not individual who's getting affected but the whole society in one way or another.

@@a.r.2006 Are you implying that by talking about porn, we would normalise it. And by not talking about it, people won't be exposed to it, hence it would not exist in the social sphere. And yeah I wouldn't like people to watch porn like a soap opera that come on every evening.

@@dontbothr We should generalize implement Sexual Education not Porn.Neither you should watch nor discuss it. And just because you don't watch it doesn't mean people who watch it doesn't exist. Especially pre-teen. And you know why.

@@dontbothr neither you have mentioned 'difference of opinion'.... But its okay. Let it be taken as difference of opinion. On second note, Topic was of introducing a porn actor in advertisements. Product is not of concern here for time being but it is the content which has been served through ads. There could be a better thousand ways to market the same product, but why bringing in a porn artist? And Not just that, standup comedians, are pushing the same agenda. If he needs an image changeover and is tired of being a mere porn artist, he could have opted for a completely different role. Marketing is a powerful tool, but yes it too has to be checked whenever it spills dirt. Coz people are drawn towards sexual advertisments, it doesn't means to feed them up with a lot of it.

When we're talking about marketing only the most outlandish stuff remains in people's minds. Again "why bring him specifically?", things that are different from the rest are the ones people remember on a subconscious level. "Agenda", prove it every stand up comic is advocating for it, else its more like a conspiracy. It was a job, he was paid for the role. He didn't call Tanmay and said "Hey, I'm looking to make my image better. Can you help me?" "people are drawn towards sexual advertisements", And? Don't they also have a right to 'not engage'? Do you think think people don't have agency. Do you think of everyone a baby that needs to be spoon fed?

@@MaxCrasfer difference of opinion is that she's advocating for comedians to do more 'socially aware' type of content while I'm saying they don't always have to do it.

Comedy is not always about 'playing it safe' like Stephen Colbert. Watch George Carlin's "7 dirty words you can't say on tv". It's also about showing the ones in power that they can be made fun of/ridiculed.

It's an advertisement and for it to be remembered it needed some shock value/star power. You either show something that generate a response from viewers or you don't. That's marketing. But I've noticed that she doesn't talk about the product that's being sold in the advertisement. It's a 'supplement'. Shouldn't she also talk about 'not depending on supplement for a healthy life'? Shouldn't the ethics also expand to living a healthy and active life, not just being buried by hundreds of books and preparing for competition but also making time for some physical activity because there's been a recent trend of INDIAN MEN IN 20's DYING OF CARDIAC ARREST. Indian culture views promotion of physical activity same as she thinks that comedy is always about showing TRUTH TO POWER.
