Actually, It was planned this way; making people actually WANT to use devices to be used later as Evidence and for Surveillance. Who wouldn't think this far ahead; knowing that phones and cameras historically almost always led to a call to a news outlet or Perhaps A law enforcement office, lol.

Closest thing to that would be signing up with each credit bureau and put a freeze on your credit for free. It prevents scammers from opening accounts using your info. If they try, your info won't be verifiable, and the scammers will be denied from opening an account. You can sign up for email & text alerts of suspicious activity. You can either login from your computer or download their apps to turn the freeze on/off with a click of a button similar to turning your credit card.

Real world follows. The supermarket has a membership offer. You sign up. You can get digital coupons which discount merchandise. If you don't have the membership, no discount. You apply for membership and get it. You sign in with your membership and the cash register records everything you are buying. The store ownership looks at sales and what is moving. When you get to the end of the day, you are paying less than you would otherwise pay. The store is using your data to make it more efficient. TVGod 2011: Are you aware that Walmart, Costco do not offer the same merchandise at every store operated in the USA? Why not? Demographic review of customers and sales. Your "data" is used.

Get yourself a second phone, and just leave the smart phone with the installed insurance app at home. Done. What the insurance companies seem to want is for us to stop driving. Screw them. Also, your friend may be evaluated by how her friends drive, or who is driving her around. Why? How the hell can the app know which car seat she's in??? That's right. It can't.

Costco building apartments over their stores for employees. That is not a new idea. Coal mines did it for decades. "Coal Patches", "company stores", and their own banking system. Once you got it, it was very hard to get out. Legal servitude. I shopped around for new car insurance. Went to Farmer's. They required every driver over 18 years old to have a "membership". $30/person every year. WTF? That was an immediate turn off. Then they said they would not insure only one car at the household. Their policy is: We insure ALL the cars at the household, or we insure none of them. My response: Ok, then I guess you got none. Bye!

I had one of these OBD2 plugs for auto insurance in 2013 time frame. This was before I had a smartphone, but it did its own communication. As soon as the discount showed up, I called to find out where to return it.... "uhhh, return it? " I finally got an address and sent it back. The discount stuck. The tracking is so much more intense now.

This craziness about saving on car insurance and letting somebody monitor your driving habits is disgusting. I almost got roped into doing this with State Farm. I woke up and said no I'll just pay the rate I'm paying now thank you. First they start basing it on your credit score now they want to be sitting in the passenger seat with you. This is nuts.

@@bdcochran01 hi there, I own two vehicles an 07 and an 11. I was able to work an arrangement with the insurer that one of the cars was a weekend driver. If I keep it below 5k miles they reduce my rate on that car. Yeah I know its old but it's a rare car (no it's not an exotic) I don't have the hart to sell it. Yes they check the mileage yearly. So if you own a second vehicle you should ask for a discount. I still will not allow them monitor my driving habits ever.

The IRS has a way to tax the Costco employees who are being housed in their complexes. If the employees don't report it as an employer benefit it will be found out and taxed under Obamacare provisions. When I retired 13 years ago, Obamacare had just started to take effect. My free employer provided life insurance had a value of $80K. I had to pay an imputed tax on the policy WHILE I WAS ALIVE and not obviously receiving a payout. It wasn't until I was 66 when the policy value went under $40K that the Obamacare tax ended being levied on me.

Great video. It's funny you brought this topic up. I used to offer this to my customers when I sold Nationwide Insurance. It would save my clients money for sure, but the trade-off is they would plug a device into their computer OBD port in their car. And track all their driving habits.

Greetings from the UK. My car insurance for my Mercedes 2.2 litre that is 13 years old and worth about £4000; was 2 years ago £470, fully comprehensive plus full no claims bonus and no driving convictions. Last year it was £970. Renewal due for 2024 next week was £1142! Either this is due to taking old or diesel cars off the road, forcing people to go electric, or perhaps that many insurance companies (like many pension funds) are close to bankrupt!

Another good video Dan! I don't know how app gets how your driving if it's not hooked the car in any way??? The ones that attach to the car use the OBD port. This can damage your car as nothing permanently should be attached to that port.

Yeah, GPS is pretty accurate in general for finding locations but I can't see how it would work for small changes in position like changing lanes in traffic and it knowing how many cars are around you. It would work for speed, but even that's got a plus/minus tolerance to it.

Dan, I have USAA and my other half has All-state, both of which have apps you must install on your phone, if you want the "discount." USAA has the ability to indicate, "I was passenger in vehicle." Crazy times.

I have similar app with USAA. Supposedly they only track 2 things. How often you use phone for texting or calls while driving and hard braking. Will see what sort of discount i get after 6 months which is when initial rate cut can happen

Low income housing requires huge tax funds to pay for the portion of costs that the tenants do not pay. In CA these figures are huge. Instead of burdeoning tax payers tell Costco to compensate their employees more than low income wages znd benefits. Costco is not worthy of being a welfare recipient.

FYI: The Trump immunity decision just punted the case it was about (DC insurrection case) back to the Federal trial court to do the prosecution; present evidence, take testimony, then if one side or the other doesn't like the jury decision and/or penalty they can appeal. I would think it applies to the Florida documents case, too. Neither case will be decided before the November election but the court processes for both should get back on track before then. Not a win for Trump, not a win for the Dept of Justice.

Got to agree on privacy as my most valuable asset. When my partner and I discuss cash money, accessing abortion drugs,(we have a bunch of daughters between us) politics, or preps, we step out onto our terrace, without smartphones, to talk. For any jack-ass preparing a smart remark about birth control, save it. They're adults who got that covered. We plan ahead. That's prepping.

THAT BS & worse is what truck drivers have been dealing with for about 20 years......THE # ONE reason trucking can't get enough drivers and can't get hardly ANY professional drivers......The good guys have all left.....and THAT leaves only human garbage sitting in these trucks today.

We have a couple nice new low income housing for seniors,2 bedroom with attached garage,problem is they build these communities with only 30 homes and are spoken for before they even open and have a waiting list of 200+people,if you are the unfortunate on the waiting list you would be long dead before you ever got into one.

Taking on an app to bee monitored won't work with me since EYE don't have a tracking device/mobile, but those that go on the road with Elaine like Jerry has done, are advised to take the opportunity to tell Progressive you're knot driving, like they will bee leave that! Stupid is as stupid does!

Dan: If.....the device works it could help drivers see what they're doing wrong. Now, if it's not used correctly or used without permission....NO. There are way too many DUI drivers out there as well as "slob" drivers that make driving a nightmare for all.
