What is Your Signature Mark? Journal Techniques, Mark making for Art, Mixed Media Mark Making

When you look at other's art do you notice their signature marks? What patterns do you see emerging throughout different pieces of their work? Developing your signature marks takes time but it's not as hard as you think. You just need to let your hands tell you want they want to create across the blank page. Watch as I practice mark making in one of my sketchbooks.

Hmmm....when the video started, I was thinking I don't have signature marks- but, as you went on I realized I do! Loopy stars, the color green, roses, paint/ink splatter, daisies, vines. Interesting exercise! To me, the mark of yours that stands out, is your houses😊

Thank you! I forgot that I liked to make houses and trees and three dimensional shapes mainly boxes, I first said I don’t make anything which I don’t I just do ahodgepodge of different things in my journals so I’m gonna start doing those. Thank you.❤

I always love to watch you work and listen as you either tell a story or talk about your process, but really this just looked like a bunch of mess to me. But OH MY GOSH Gina - when you started drawing squares around the bits😮 - something in it just hit for me. I could so see those squares being cut out and used as ATC’s or tip-ins, or bits to start a new page. Wow - mind blown! ❤

@@stellarjstudios - you know how you wake up in the middle of the night and think about something you said that was stupid? I realized I didn’t say what you did wasn’t a mess, it was just play and trying stuff out. I have a hard time doing that so my brain sees it as a mess. So no shade to your process, I just didn’t say it well. And maybe I still didn’t. I love all your stuff though. 😀
