As someone with dry, mature skin, I've tried a lot of barrier repair products. I keep going back to Stratia Lipid Gold, but I use it under a moisturizer, the illiyoon ATO Ceramide Concentrate Cream. Both are pretty affordable. I did just get Happy barrier from G&G!!! Along with their C Glow!!! Many blessings for a happy & healthy New Year!💖💖💖

The biggest thing for me was cutting back on cleansing. I think we underestimate how disruptive cleansers can be; even "gentle" cleansers. When I was first starting I was doing it every morning and night as it's often recommended. Way way too drying. I learned to wash my face only at night and rinse with water in the morning and that helped a lot. Now a days, I often won't even rinse my face with water. I'll blot my face of excess oil with a towel and proceed with sunscreen. Why rinse off the moisturizer if my skin needs it? That move actually stopped my skin from stinging when I would put on products in the evening. The only other thing I try to be careful of is using acids, including formulations using L-Ascorbic acid. It's just too irritating for me to use glycolic acid every week. I usually do it 1 to 2 times a month. Vitamin C I'm on the fence about using L-Ascorbic acid or using a derivative. The science is still too young on some of these derivatives to be convincing enough for me to spend my money.

I had big improvements when I cut back on the cleansing products. In the AM water rinse and/or toner.

I'm going to stick with modulating glucosides, and Stratia Lipid Gold! Or Ample:N crramide shot ampule and Cosrx 92 cream. Works Every. Single. Time. For me anyway😉💗💗💗

Hey I am def not mad about western brands releasing products dedicated to barrier repair. You can never have too many barrier supportive products !

I forgot to talk about the peach and Lilly cream. I really like it but that one wasn’t as silky as a lot of other Korean creams are but it’s still great and no pilling!

I’m focusing on prevention for my barrier. This winter that means a pump of Stratia lipid gold in the morning and 2 at night. We haven’t had harsh weather but I’ve upped my retinoid use and it’s working well. I used to use the old PC barrier repair moisturizer that had a small amt of retinol as my nighttime eye cream. I don’t think I’ll be trying any of these. Between lipid gold and other less expensive products, I don’t think these would add anything to my routine. Sarah, thanks for getting me to look at gold bond moisturizers again. My neck has been my most irritation prone area. I use their 2% colloidal oat cream every night on my neck. It’s thick and soothing and a great value. I’m also using their retinol on my body

My favorite Gold Bond lotion is their pure moisture lotion. It’s weightless, but moisturizes well. How are you liking their retinol body lotion?

What do you think about more affordable options such as the new The Ordinary pink product or the Stratia Lipid Gold??

Lanbelle's Supernatural Cream has been amazing to keep away the flakies that I get with tretinoin. I'd love for you to do a deep dive into their line, especially the EGF ampoule

Have you tried the Cosrx Comfort Ceramide Cream? It is not classified as a “barrier cream” but it is thick like one and works well for me. It’s pretty decent for the price and I’ve used some very expensive ones that I just cannot justify continuing to buy because they are so costly.

Sarah speaking of Sunday Riley Good Genes, have you tried the DRMTLGY L.A. Refining Serum? Haven’t seen very much on it at all! It looks like it might be a good dupe.

We've gotten HAMMERED with snow this season and it's not even the end of December! Record snow year! Crazy! Glad I've learned how to layer my skincare or I'd be a walking scale right now LOL Noticed for me that I only use the lipid gold in winter. It's too sticky for use in summer. Not sure why but layering gel creams (K beauty has these nailed) and topping with one or two heavier creams seems to work for my 56yo dry skin in winter. Oh and now I've added the snail cream by cosrx.

I just started trauma and products have been stinging specifically the ordinary barrier serum so I’ve cut out all serums and just use a gentle cleanser in the morning and sunscreen and just cleanse, trilingual and moisturizer at night. I think I may stick with this routine honestly maybe add a vitamin c back eventually but that’s it

I’ve found the simpler the better works for my skin. My skin started getting really irritated whenever I’d use the Good Molecules pineapple exfoliator even though I’ve used it for years, so I cut it out and have stopped exfoliating all together. I’ve been relying solely on my retinal and hydrating products, and my skin feels better.

I'm still upset over PC discontinuing the Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer with Retinol 😢 it was a HG for me. I did try their new moisturizer and I didn't care for it. It's light weight but it sits on your skin. It's one of those moisturizers that you sweat off

I got the huge bottle of prequel Gleanser the other day and holy cow I’ve never ever used a more gentle cleanser. It is a STEAL for the price and it’s over 10oz I think. 50% glycerin it feels almost velvet and foams a bit.

Shocked that the drunk elephant barrier repair product isn't a pleasant formula, per your description. Isn't that the purpose of the price point? I dont understand it otherwise. I pay extra for peach and Lily's glass skin serum because it feels incredible, just an example. I expect way more from DE's price point.

The same beauty industry that sells you over-exfoliation wants to sell you barrier repair. The same beauty industry that sells you over-plucking eyebrows now wants to sell you microblading.
@tiahnarodriguez3809
@tiahnarodriguez3809 6 месяцев назад
That’s how the industry is. In another couple of years they’ll tell us we were doing something wrong again and try to sell a miracle cure. I think by now we all know what’s proven efficacious, so hopefully not too many people fall for whatever the new gimmick is.
