Yes I know. I have experimented with the different grades of gas, and I just find that paying the extra few cents for the 91 buys me a little more time between fill-ups.
Cool video, In N Seattle name brand premium is around 5.69, but going up pretty quickly. 2008 stock FJ, 150k miles, getting about 17 mpg city/hwy, fairly conservative driving habits.
15 to the gal around Socal thats pretty standard. I'm driving my FJ less and just using it for trips or once a week to the store to keep the juices flowing. Since it sits more I use 93 non alcohol. Glad they sell it here. On a trip I use 87 and haven't had any issues but if I know I'll be in the mountains I use 91. Thats my take on the situation. GL.
@@LiL13izzy7 WA coast near a harbor. I moved out of SoCal years ago. I get it from a Chevron but Shell is best known for 93 around here. Station put in a pump for boats with no alcohol and 93. I thought Shell still sold 93 in Cali but they must have stopped.I don't care that much about the octane its the no alcohol for longer term storage I want.
My 07 gets 19-20 mixed driving. 130,000 miles completely stock running 87. 87 fuel is $4.74 right now in FL. . Just got back from a trip last week it was $4.29 in Georgia. You should of bought the fuel at Mobil and not wasted gas waiting at Costco for the same price. If you figure the cost difference between 87 and 91. That is $3.90 cents for 15 gallons. You will need to pick up at least 1.5 mpg to be saving money buying the 91 over the 87. Clean air filter, fresh plugs, clean throttle body, tire pressure etc. Really effect the mpg on these FJs. I own an FJ, and the manufacturer recommends the 91 octane in all of its literature..., Should I disregard that information and only listen to you..."Anthony" 🤔, I think not.
FYI, the 2007-2009 FJ model years require 91. 2010-beyond had minor engine tweaks that made 87 acceptable. Depending on what year your FJ is, you may see different octane requirements in the literature.
@@ronmantei2472 Toyota's been saying 87 is fine for a while now for the FJ. All you have to do is google the official bulletin they released. They even tell you to disregard the fuel filler cap. But you do you.
My '07 FJ gets about 21mpg on the highway. With gas prices going up it breaks my heart even considering selling or trading her in for a more fuel efficient ride. The FJ cruiser has been my dream car since I was a little kid in the Philippines. 💔
