@@Clearlight201 I don't know what the rules are, but to me it makes sense winning the actual chess should be the priority in 'chess boxing' as winning a chess game can't be scored as anything but a win or loss. While the boxing is there to mix things up/give a chance for a win to the inferior chess player IF they can beat the other guy at boxing. Gotta be a jack of all trades to do the best that's the idea or at least should be imho. Edit: And by win I mean knockout lol

Being composed and feeling in control seem to be just more emotions. Imo for most athletes it's not true that they feel in control while performing at their best.

​@@MrCmon113As someone who trains it most definitely is best to be in control of your emotions. If you're sparring or in a fight and you let anger take over you'll probably start throwing haymakers and get cracked, because you're less focused on technique and defense.

I am always composed when i get punched and i doubt it's working so i opted to just avoid fights or run when it's imminent

You really think bare knuckle fighters throw lightly ? Trust me they throw some calculated like gloved fighters, they also throw many blows with the intention of hospitalizing their opponent.

Can't say much for BKB, but I'm a Kyokushin practitioner myself, we do bare knuckle fighting (literally, not even wraps) but we never strike the head. We kick to the head but punches are to the body. A lot safer for the brain than constant jarring punches.

It's not about their intention or how hard they are trying. The boxing gloves simply transfer the force in such a way that is more directly damaging to the brain​ rather than mainly just smashing up the surface if the target. When it comes to striking it is not about how hard you try(which will never achieve the best results btw) nor about the amount of force generated ,rather the most important aspect of striking is how efficiently the force is transferred into the target. @@KGlifts

​@@jamiearnold1711never practiced kyokushin itself (shotokan , Goju ryu and tang Soo do) but they did allow us to compete in their tournaments anyway. And yes although kyokushin was from the start created as a sport, that is one "martial" aspect/application which it kept. Especially in real life you actually don't wanna just be punching people in the head, doesn't mean you can't, but there are so many other less risky options that it makes little sense to do so outside of the perfect opportunity. And also yes in real life where your opponent hasn't recently dehydrated themselves nearly to death a ko is a pretty unlikely occurrence. And unless you knock them out punches to the head are simply going to make someone even more angry and want to fight you that much more. Where as a good body shot can remove any intention they have of continuing to fight you.

Progression in training would be terrible if u learned like that. You'd get injured too often.

The protection is only for the audience. Bare knuckle is much safer for the fighters. Having wraps on your hands might actually be worse than wearing gloves tho.

Overall bare knuckle boxing is safer than boxing with gloves. Gloves allow the fighters to punch harder resulting in more severe head injuries.

I kinda understand the argument, but bare knuckles has nowhere near enough fights to adequately compare to statistics offered by boxing. Boxing is just that huge compared to anything else. Like, we have MMA and muay thai where people fight pretty hard without heavy gloves (for the most part; some MT junior leagues use them, although their usage of elbows and legs makes comparison even harder - it's not just gloves vs no gloves anymore), and people there fight a lot in some countries, but even those can be considered niche compared to boxing. And BK is even smaller.

There are standing counts and not nearly as many out cold KOs cause no gloves, so hands break, therefore people aren’t throwing their full power behind a padded 8 ounce like boxing and people aren’t getting hammered fisted after they go out like MMA.
