I agree to everything mentioned here. Have been in Van for 4 years and never been disappointed. And the things that are holding me back from moving to TO/ON are the nature and active lifestyle here in Van. I totally agree that once you finish school and move out from a city, its hard to make new friends. You need to go out and mingle.

Depends on the year for weather; Vancouver had a colder than normal winter this year with a fair amount of snow and a lot of rain. Toronto had a milder than normal winter.

As a person who spends most of free time on ski, mtb, hiking and rock climbing. Vancouver vs Toronto to me is like, Vancouver wins because of mountains, mountains, and still the frking mountains, living in Vancouver is like working in my vacation destination, the moment I finish work my vacation start right away, lol. Before Vancouver I lived in Toronto for 10 years, I did actually take vacation to go to Vancouver several times during the 10 years.

It's not the snow in Toronto; it's the slush! Vancouver is in a rainforest after all. It's basically two main seasons - Rainy season, or drought season. But spring & autumn last longer than in Ontario. Temperatures in Victoria/Vancouver are close to those of the northern Adriatic, so exotic plants and trees thrive here.

Toronto’s fun from 18-24 after that it’s time to get the hell out.. 100x prefer Vancouver!

Vancouver is stunning. The mild temperature is the best part. Toronto is too cold in the winter and boiling hot 🔥 in the summer ☀️.

Hobbies of course are a way to meet people etc., but they often cost money.

Vancouver is the hot person who never had to develop a personality. Toronto isn't the prettiest, but due to that it has a crazy incredible culture and vibe. If your life revolves around being outdoors, Vancouver hands down. If you don't care much for hiking and water sports, there's not a whole lot Vancouver offers. It's also more isolated if you like to travel to other interesting places. Toronto is more central. Both are great - but it really depends on what you're looking for. People in Toronto are more open and genuine, where in Vancouver people do come across more fake and suspicious, and SO flakey. The best people in Vancouver are not locals.

Pleasant video. "YOU GUYS" is a phrase you need to trim down... things we don't realize we say too much. I have spent 18 years in Toronto and 40 years in Vancouver. Vancouver is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more LAID BACK than Toronto. You may fall asleep. Vancouver is about 50% Asian and 50% the rest. Toronto is about 25% coloured/black 40% whitish, and the rest are everything in between. Toronto is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more cosmopolitan. Vancouver is asleep most of the time. Vancouver is VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY expensive. We like to say "B.C." means "BRING CASH". It is extraordinarily EXPENSIVE to live downtown... about $2,000 for a one bedroom. I live in South Vancouver (5 miles from downtown) and pay about $1,200. Weather is grey, grey, grey a lot. Not a lot of rain, but grey a lot. It does not get very cold... a bit in Jan-March. The population in Vancouver is about 70% over age 40 and 30% under 40. Public transit is good but shuts down totally at around 1am except for a couple of nite busses. No trains after 1am until 6am. Vancouver is surrounded by miles and miles and miles of beaches easily accessible while beaches in Toronto are a long ride east or a long walk, more walking, then walk some more to the island... oh, and take a ferry too. Toronto beaches are, mostly, inaccessible. Vancouver is a stone's throw from skiing and boarding... you can get there by bus. You can WALK TO THE BEACH from downtown. TONS of bike lanes and more coming. Tons of pot shops. People here are in better shape than in Toronto.

The living cost of vancouver terrifies me

I love Vancouver but Toronto would be best opportunities for me so I’ll go but I hope I don’t hate it. Cold….. hopefully people are warm lol I lot of competition…. Food is expensive… And no nature~~~ I lived in Vancouver for 2 years in high school and it’s time for me to get out of comfort zone. I’ll see if I like Toronto after graduating college in there.

If we wanted to emigrate from Germany to Vancouver, what would we have to consider?

My 6 points are for all new comers to consider. 1) After all, she's still Canadian. She can make friends much more easily than non-Canadian new comers. 2) She was only a 8 month visitor. Being a visitor is always exciting. There are always new things to do and explore. 3) She lived with a roommate & then in a community house. Because the roommate and housemates were already friendly, even if it's hard to make friends outside, her life would never have been too lonely because she could have always talked to the person(s) in her apartment or house. 4) She's comparing Toronto with Vancouver. Perhaps the 2 cities are about the same in unfriendliness or friendliness. New comers should listen to well travelled expats who have lived various countries for several years. Only listening to the well-travelled expats about the comparison between Vancouver and other non Canadian cities can make you much better decide if you should move to Vancouver at all. (5) She's a RU-vidr. Talking negatively about a city is scary thing to do for a RU-vidr because she would get a lot of negative comments. It's possible she tried to play safe by having neutral comments about Vancouverites. (6) She did not work full time in Vancouver so she had a lot of time to do many activities that helped her meet new people. New comers have to work long hours to afford to live in Vancouver. He or she might not have much time left to do activities to meet people. About me, I moved to Vancouver 40 years ago when I was 14 years old. I am originally from an Asian country of a warm temperature of which breeds warm-hearted people. I have had a retail shop in busy Vancouver locations for 20 years. I have met hundreds of thousands of people at my shop. After talking to many well travelled people & immigrants, I heard Vancouver is the most unfriendly city ever. Vancouver is like Seattle which earned the reputation "Seattle Freeze". We are the "Vancouver Freeze" which means Vancouver breeds the coldest people. Maybe some Vancouverites can nicely greet you and have a small talk but that's as nice as they can get. Making friends with them would be absolutely impossible because Vancouverites are so cliquey & guarded they have already decided they would never want any more new friends in their lives. Vancouver has earned the reputation "boring city" despite its natural beauty because people here boring and extremely anti-social outside their cliques. Please look up other RU-vid videos about Vancouver people and read the comments. You would know many videos and their comments agree with what I say here. Certainly, I hurt the feelings of many Vancouverites by saying the above truth. Many Vancouverites would say all the big cities are the same. It's all difficult to make friends there. So just get out there and make friends. When people generalize like this, they're are not sensible at all. It's like saying today's economy is no good so it's difficult to find a job anywhere. So you just have to try it harder to look for a job. In short, in comparison, some places simply offer much much better environments and cultures to make friends. Good luck!

I've lived in Vancouver for 7 years and every time I go back, there's more tents, it's dirtier, and there's more crime. Is this the same for Toronto? Or somewhere in the GTA?

I think this would be better with more shots of both cities as you are talking and more points made as bullet-points/comparisons. I quit after 5 mins because a simple diagram is better than 15 mins...
