lol… I drive a GLE 63 S Coupe and I barely have place to put stuff in when I go to Costco.. I can’t imagine going to Costco with this car.. and my AMG is the biggest SUV compared to other rival SUV, X6M, Urus, Porsche Turbo GT, and RSQ8
Thanks for another great review Miles! Funnily enough, this is actually the only car I own and I agree, it is a great daily diver sports car without too many sacrifices. Naturally aspirated, mid mounted GT engine in a road car chassis with a six speed manual... Cant do much better than that as far as I'm concerned. Haven't done a Costco run yet but now I know it's possible!
I got mine in a manual and live in built-up LA. Wouldn’t have done it any other way. Automatic (PDK) is faster, more convenient, and (to me) a thousand times less fun and engaging.
@@leonardopiotti4833 disagree heavily, everyone always talks about this, the gears are long, but by no means are they too long, I've put over 10k miles on my GTS4 this year alone with several track days, at no point have I wished for shorter gears
And there goes one of the greatest Sports Cars in history :') ❤️ Sure, we're getting an Electric Replacement for the Boxster and Cayman, but I'll believe in their greatness when I see it.
Gearing is very tall in Cayman Manuals. Easily you can go past the national speed limit in like 2nd 3rd gear. So if you know you'll be doing bunch of track driving then manual will be fun Otherwise get the PDK.. it's awesome 💯
You mentioned 14.2 miles to the gallon , is it because you love spirited driving or that's just the usual combined ? Would PDK prove more economical ? Thanks !
To any UK people watching this video. A US gallon is smaller than a UK gallon, so you have to multiply the fuel economy figures given in this video by 1.2. So the 14.2 miles to the gallon stated would be 17 mpg for UK gallons. Something I've never seen demonstrated in Porsche Cayman/Boxter/911 review, when talking about practicality is: Can you fit a mid-sized suitcase in the front? I mean a hard cased hold/checked in suitcase not a carry-on. Don't know about anybody else, but I often get asked to pick people up at the airport and my next car is going to be a Cayman. Would be great to know if I would need to start telling people they need to get a taxi.
in our 981 (2016) Cayman, the frunk easily holds 2 carry-on sized suitcases, altho they are soft-sided. Great trip car--ours has seen 8 states and is good for week-long trips.
Watching you get in and out makes me laugh! Honestly I’m the same way….im 5’9” 200lbs and 50 and try to stay fit. But Jesus it’s a task to get in and out with elegance. Especially in parking spots where you open the door a 1/4 of the way to slide in lol. But other than that I love my 18’ Cgts
I'm in Orange County as well, 2023 GTS 4.0 owner, what back roads where you driving on? Looking for something fun to drive on, not many options in this concrete jungle.
What are you talking about..... the manual had to change gears too much? The gears are so long you can stay in first or second gear up to 60mph.... People who like to drive, love being engaged with the car. I have a manual, it's the best, most fun car I've ever driven. No one I have let drive it didn't get out if it with a huge smile on their face... It's the best sports car EVER.
Great review! Love the car, but I have to comment on the door handles…I just got a Cayman S, and there have been a few people who open the door like Miles, and I’m just horrified. Like why do you open the door like that and let the handle spring back into place. Like use some finesse. 🤷🏻♂️
I wouldn't worry about the handle's integrity, and if there's something to worry about, then Porsche's losing its build quality reputation. I open a lot of different car door handles, and get in and out of cars to film inside and out more often than the average person. Using finesse with every door handle gets overly tedious, in my case.
Possibly! Since I've already done the Huracan Sterrato and two other 911s (Dakar and GT3 RS), I might let those breathe a little before coming back to them, but maybe on the horizon
I'm calling the HOA... your in violation of the community parking code. Your 3 inches over the driveway... That's 300 dollars per day until you correct the problem. Or we will take your home!
Always makes me laugh when youtubers obscure the speedo when engaging in "spririted" driving. Like the police have no idea what the gearing and speed of a Cayman (or any other car for that matter) is in 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear etc at 7k rpm. It's not like it's stated all over the internet in various forums or anything. They don't need to see the speed indicated to get a successful conviction. Oh and do North Americans get taught to put a manual car in to neutral when approaching a stop sign or red traffic lights? In the UK that'd be an instant fail on the driving test.
In what way? What car in this price range gives you this type of engagement and experience. One can argue this car is underpriced because it’s better than almost every non-GT 911 and a fraction of the cost.
