I was diagnosed with HOCM in 2015 and had the myectomy surgery due to my advanced symptoms and I can say that the surgery was definitely painful to recover from but the symptoms are all but gone and I feel a lot better. I can say that the time leading up to the procedure was the scariest part, I don't think people understand how difficult it is to be living with a time bomb in your chest and you cannot do anything to stress your heart. I wish there was a larger support group to help people get through the long process of dealing with HOCM.
One of the biggest support groups I found it has helped me the most is on Facebook. If you search hypertrophic cardiomyopathy there’s one group that has thousands of people and people are writing comments every day. I’m glad the surgery was a success I’m still having some minor issues here and there it might need another cardiac ablation. Thanks for following along! Stay safe and enjoy getting back to life before you found out. :-)
Best of luck, its a long road to recovery! I will be going in for another ablation soon and then I really hope I am all set for a long long time. I wish you the best of luck! -Tim
