I didn't download the most recent roster update before recording this video, due to the Franchise Mode glitch that was happening to some people. Luckily, all of the players I used have the exact same trade value EXCEPT for Boedker, who went down. So San Jose would have to trade Braun instead :)

When Las Vegas can trade for McDavid but the Red Wings can't

I drafted McDavid in a fantasy draft and at 24 he was a 98 overall for me in my Be a GM. Found that pretty insane.

Crazy too see this trade going though 5 years later. I would decline lots of these as an oilers fan knowing what he will grow into 5 years in the future 😂

99% of teams cannot offer enough for McDavid. he's young, his hockey vision is the compared to Gretzky, his speed is comparable to Bobby Orr and his puck control is comparable to Lemieux. and he's making less than $900, 000. aside from Crosby, NO ONE can compare.

Demko really is that good. Watching him in college, he's gonna be a top 5 goalie in the league eventually.

As a long time Chicago fan, I would say there is no way we would trade Toews and Panarin for McDavid. With that said I have a ton of respect for McDavid and think he will be one of the best players in NHL history when all is said and done.

As a Hawks fan... I think McDavid would easily replace Toews as far as skill goes but I'm not (yet) sure about leadership. And the thing is that we'd lose Panarin as well so Kane would probably have to play with McDavid to ensure that he has a high skill winger and that might kill our depth. But McDavid would be a franchise player, no doubt about it.

Tampa with Stamkos + Vasy. Interesting. I would have said take a hike at the start of this year but now that he keeps getting injured, i dont know maybe. We have a leader in waiting in Hedman so its not like the leadership would walk out the door. Yzerman (god of contract deals) could probably have Edmonton go 1 for 1 with Killorn or something hahaha

Rangers fan here - yes I'd take the trade. It seems unreasonable for Edmonton to go that route, and it would be a shame to lose Mac & Mika, but we could use a superstar of that caliber to get us a Stanley cup.

Lots of people don't seem to understand that these trades aren't realistic. No one is trading half their core for one player in today's NHL - it's just showing what gets accepted and what doesn't. Realistically the only way Edmonton would accept a McDavid trade would be if the numbers coming back WERE ridiculous (and impossible) like Matthews/Rielly/1st and potentially more. There's just no reason to trade him.

I did a franchise mode and I had Shattenkirk on my team (via FA) and I traded him, a 1st, a second and a 3rd (from 2 years from now) and I got McDavid and a first back! Talk about a great trade

I did a Islanders gm mode, and I traded Johnny T and first round picks from McDavid, and McDavid turned into a 99 overall so it was totally worth it

If Toronto actually offered Matthews, Marner and a first, Edmonton would probably accept in a heartbeat.

EA needs to make a thing where there are players that can't be traded no matter what ( eg mcdavid) and also have players that can't be moved because no team wants them (eg a bad player who makes like 6 mil a year)

What this video proves is that trading for McDavid won't work. Edmonton wouldn't trade him unless someone grossly overpaid, and if someone grossly overpaid for him, they'd have to gut their roster.

If Colorado offered: Mackinnon, Barrie, Zadorov, an A+ Prospect & a few 1sts I'd consider it

Rangers fan here, Although McDavid is great, McDonagh is such an asset to the team. Their defense sucks and, even with McDonagh on the team, Girardi makes the defense look like a bottom five in the NHL. Luckily their offense is practically #1.

As a jets fan accepting Laine for McDavid would actually make me a little hesitant. I'd probably still take it though.

well xtech always did it in his gm modes. trades like reimer +1st round pick for McDavid (trades are on easy btw) or trade rick nash and a 1st from 2028 + 2030 3rd 4th and a 5th

As a Leaf fan, I really don't know. McDavid is absolutely amazing, but giving up a bit much for him with a 1st round puck, Reilly and Matthews. Viewing the trade from The Oilers perspective though, that's what it would take for me really, though I'd try to erase the 1st round pick and try to work out getting Marner off Toronto too somehow. Reality: Neither GM would enter this crazy scenario in the first place, but it's always fun to speculate.

hell no from leafs fans. matthews is the kind of center that will shut down a mcdavid when the teams go head to head. mcdavid is faster and will put up more points over 82 games but matthews is stronger and better defensively and will put up more goals. Matthews is almost first in the league in ES goals and he has Hyman as his winger all year loolololololol. McDavid would have < 20 ES goals playing with Hyman. McDavid also has 40+ even strength assists. That goes to around 30 if he had Hyman on his line. Nylander is only a recent addition. Matthews all day in the long run.

that Chicago trade would of worked probably with just Toews and a 1st round pick. yea it would be amazing for us to get a young franchise playmaker instead of a defensive 2 way 1st line center in Toews. but personally I feel like everyone in the Hawks franchise wouldn't make this trade reguardless. he's our Captain. he's here to stay. hopefully.

As an Oiler fan, the only way i would trade McDavid, is if the Pens traded their entire team away to get Stamkos and Oveckin. Then traded those 2 PLUS Crosby AND Malkin for McDavid. Then i might consider it even.

Its absurd to even speculate around a game that is simply numbers. McDavid and Matthews would be a possible trade if anything. However, the only realistic thing you say, is that none would trade McDavid, or Matthews right now. They're too young. We've seen NHL players in the past go in and be real good first few seasons and then they stop develope or others catch up. In fact, I honestly think Toronto has made the best drafts past few years. Getting Nylander made some people go nuts because the lack of size. But look now, Matthews, Nylander, Marner and even getting Kapanen. Maple Leafs just look better for the future than Edmonton. It reminds me about Pittsburgh getting Letang, Crosby, Malkin.

This was a really fun experiment that really did make me think. If McDavid were to be traded it would have to be for a damn good young franchise level talent. We're talking he's in the CHL at 12 good. (Which of course is impossible.) I am curious as to why some of the younger players such as Patrik Laine, Zach Werenski and Cam Atkinson etc were not chosen. Did it have to do with not having updated rosters or some salary cap technicality? Then again I didn't see Johnny Hockey in their either which would be absolutely the most hilarious thing when you think of the teams they play for. (I also think Johnny Gaudreau might be a tad overrated and certainly not enough for a one on one trade.) Columbus has several talented players that could make a trade for McDavid realistic but then so do the Caps who are a really great team and on fire right now. I love goalies but I don't think any goalie would be tradeable on their own, even the hot ones which have a few years on them. I can't think of any young talents on the fly that would have the power to work in a McDavid trade. Devan Dubnyk, Sergei Bobrovsky, Johnathan Quick, Braden Holtby and Carey Price might be tradeable with some other star players and some first round picks put in for good measure. Plus Cam Talbot is pretty good and I think that it would seem ridiculous to add a top notch goalie unless Cam was part of the trade. The Henrik Lundqvist thing was interesting since Cam once played for the Rangers as Lundqvist's backup. Would Lundqvist be the backup to Cam in his final years? Talk about reversal of fortune! Any player has got to be young and have enough talent to make up for what they lose which is a lot. It would be emotionally draining for the team which has spent years on a rebuild much like Toronto to get rid of their star player for a few players, that while good, are not at the same caliber as McDavid. I personally think it would be a multi team trade with first round picks so some similarities to the Eric Lindros trade.

As a Toronto fan I would not be happy if management decided to make that deal, not in a hundred years
