This is a short portion of a 2-part reading of the July 2018 police interview of June Umchinda, an ex-girlfriend of Charlie Adelson re: the 2014 murder of FSU law professor Dan Markel. Markel's ex-wife was Wendi Adelson, Charlie's younger sister. In a pretrial motion, both the State and Charlie Adelson's attorney mistakenly quoted June as saying that Donna thought Dan was back from the grave, haunting "HER." Judge Everett ruled that that alleged statement by Umchinda was inadmissible at Charlie Adelson's trial.
Charlie Adelson was recently convicted of Markel's murder on November 6, 2023. One week later, his mother Donna Adelson was arrested for her role in the murder for hire, as she was trying to board a flight to Vietnam via Dubai with her husband Harvey Adelson. Donna Adelson, age 73, was transported on November 20, 2023 to the Leon County jail in Tallahassee. Wendi Adelson has been named by the State as a co-conspirator, but she has not been charged with any crimes so far. The complete readings of the police interview transcripts can be seen here:

Yup in her book it show she was very jealous because he always got her job and ppl loved even if he was Mr know he was loved she was jealousy of he’s success they are the manipulator they the liars she called him names and let her mom called Dan stupid who does that and Dan gf had Skype I think Wendy was so upset Tamara stated it at the police station how Dan told her Wendi wasn’t Jay that Dan gf was talks to her boy hello u Jeff tucked them in the bed he’s stay over play ball with the kids but Dan can’t have he’s gf have a relationship she was so jealous of Dan it why I no she was involved she became millionaire after Dan death

Donna is full of it!! These people are liars, they thought their money could buy/hide their horrible crime. None of them can be trusted and believed. she's not in pain, and Dan back from the grave -yes it's called guilt for what they did. NO MERCY!!

Hi Judy, TY for your advocacy in bringing all involved in Dans murder to justice. There are so many factors, that are still so troubling, specifically the well being of Dans sons, whom have been raised since 2014 in the care of the Adelsons. CA ,uncle, convicted of Dans murder, Donna, grandmother, arrested for Dans murder, and 2 others, Mom & grandpa, under possible investigation. How worrisome!!! The blatant living the high life facade by the Adelsons, their deceitful innocent act they were being extorted victims, along with CA supposedly carrying a gun after Dans murder, like Dan the dead victim, is going to kill CA, is even more insulting. However CA stated he was going to whack the uncover FBI agent. The Adelsons are a public safety risk.

@@aalegalfocusAn example of Wendi’s manipulation- During her testimony at Charlie’s trial, she mentioned 3 times that Jane was the one who brought Jeff up in the interrogation. However, what she doesn’t mention on the stand was that, just a few days before the murder/interrogation, Wendi and Jane went for a long walk together while Wendi vented to Jane about Jeff. Wendi was ‘planting’ suggestions into Jane’s head, knowing that she is a victim’s advocate. Then Wendi asked if she could come to the interrogation room.

@MomentsInTrading exactly. She's a very sneaky person who likes to plan these things. Just like how she (allegedly) was planning Dan's birthday party in 2012 and getting friends involved, all the while plotting to leave him & meeting with a divorce attorney already.

@@aalegalfocusSomething else too that I haven’t confirmed. During an interview with Ryan, he said that both times Luis rented cars that were the same color as Jeff’s. That’s the only time I’ve heard that claim though.

As her infamous mother mentioned “ Wendi you can play the performance of your lifetime “ that’s exactly Wendi has been doing. Wendi plays the part in her entire life and uses the people around her to achieve various goals. She uses her sexual prowess towards lecherous men, her educational accomplishments, amongst academic elite, and plays the victim amongst empathetic groups. Bottom line is she is always performing to accomplish any needs be it, monetary, attention, psychosocial needs. Wendi is reckless with absolute disregard to human life, character, financial loss, etc..

That is so interesting because I was thinking to myself last week that I bet the story the Adelson’s are telling themselves is that they rescued Wendi from her terrible abuser; that they were forced by Dan to do what they did. I’m sure they still blame Dan for everything. In a family unit as dysfunctional as that one, there would be no capacity for reflection, personal growth, or taking responsibility. It would be a ‘choose your own reality’ kind of environment.

Yes. It's part of a disorder they share called NPD. One of the hallmarks of the disorder is that the blame always belongs to the other person, never to themselves. Lack of self-awareness? ->Check✅. Never take responsibility? (even after being confronted with proof)->Check✅. Living in their own reality? 100% Check✅

Wendy had a good life, she wanted more. She complained when there was nothing to complain about, & exaggerated. Nothing wrong with wanting more, but her plain was illegal & wrong. She incited her family against Dan, & played the victim. Hope she gets what she deserves, but remember Dan won’t be coming back.

There's something interesting buried in the search warrant for Donna's phone (available on the Leon County Clerk of Court's website). 'On Monday, November 13, 2023 a friend of Charles Adelson contacted the State Attorney's office in Tallahassee. They advised Donna and Harvey contacted them Sunday, November 12, 2023 regarding travel to the Philippines. The Adleson's advised they had travel plans to Saigon until November 20, 2023 but no further plans at that time. The Adelson's were seeking advice for airlines as well as places to stay. The family friend has known the Adelson's for over 10 years and has never had longer than a five-minute conversation with Donna or Harvey. They found the contact very strange. Harvey Adelson told the subject, "you must not mention to Charlie anything about our plans."'

My thoughts are that Harvey told the friend this because he knew of the jail house recordings. I also believe that Harvey didn’t know Donna had already spilled the beans to Charlie.

@Trish.Norman or maybe they were playing mind games and wanted the rumors to be that they went on a trip to the Philippines, instead of Vietnam. It seems weird for them to call a friend of Charlie's whom they had barely spoken to in 10 years & ask for flight/hotel recommendations. Could they not use the internet on their own....

@@aalegalfocusQuestion- why does the prosecution not use the recorded interviews during the trial? Both Wendi & June had nuggets of information that contradicted what they stated under oath. Jeff LaCasse interview would have bolstered his credibility and testimony even more!

@rick-grim not sure- it could be a technology issue. It's faster to impeach someone by showing a transcript as opposed to figuring out the exact spot on a video & showing it on a screen.

Wait why wouldn't dan haunt them?...normally in books or tv shows a soul will stay behind if it has unfinished business so it would make sense that dan was not going to rest in peace until everyone responsible is in jail...he was a lawyer remember so justice would be important to him

I've always wondered why wendy didn't go to the liquor store in the mini mall she was having lunch at? Considering Jeff's very believable testimony that she was a drunkard, I'm sure she used her credit card at that mini mall liquor store many times before. I keep wondering when will Katie figure out that Charlie 100% used her? I think she was serious when they were dating and believed he was her golden ticket out of her current life. Yet within days of meeting he was asking if she had some unsavory friends. And within days after the murder he distanced himself from her. She did figure out how to keep the money rolling in, but I think she wanted love, a relationship and a better life for her and her kids. Once she allows herself to see she was just a pawn in the Adelsons game, maybe then she will speak honestly. Judy? What do you think?

I thought Dan owed her the 120K from the half of what the house they lived in was worth. (That was the house he was still living in when he was murdered) I thought he was withholding that $ bc she took half of the marital assets yet withheld 500K in a fund she had, that he didn’t know about. Maybe someone can correct me if I’m wrong. I thought he was using that $ owed as leverage for the upcoming court date on the subject. Also, I’m wondering if she ever got that 120K when Dans house was sold?

@@lisamcf so if she received it why would she say on the stand that he still owed her the money? (Maybe I’m confusing that with what she told Isom). He prob was withholding it as leverage.If she would have just disclosed the $ she had in an account with her mother, perhaps things would have been different. He may have resented the fact that he had to pay out alimony etc when she was sitting with 500K in an investment account with her mother Yes, many people are vindictive when used and discarded. He didn’t deserve to die for it though. She was sitting much better financially than he was.

@@aalegalfocus the spikey hair is more Jeff LaCasse and the fact that Remy is looking at us and talking, much like Jeff during his testimony, he appeared more like Jeff to me. Remy's shaved face is more like Dan. So he is a mix of the two I guess.
