Text of letter sent to the RainFurrest board:
This firm has the pleasure of representing Hilton Worldwide Inc. and its owned and managed properties regarding convention and group related matters. I have been asked by the Hilton Seattle Airport Hotel ("Hilton") to advice you that it is cancelling its contract with RainFurrest Anthropomorphics International for its September, 2016 event.
I know it is not necessary for me to detail the reasons for Hilton's decision, as your organization has already advised its members of the many problems that occurred during this year's event in the letter posted by Rex Wolf on your organization's web site: www.rainfurrest.org/2016/2015... While the issues cited in the web posting alone would justify Hilton's decision to end its relationship with RainFurrest, as you are no doubt aware, the problems went far beyond what was described in the post.
The Hilton became the headquarters hotel for your event in 2011 and has seen the event grow from a 1200 person weekend event to a 2800 attendee week long "party." As the event has grown, the damage to the property, complaints by other guests, and inappropriate conduct by attendees has multiplied. The following is only a partial list of issues that occurred during the 2015 event:
*Two attendee drug overdoses that required medical response and hospitalization for both attendees;
*Over 2000 spend nitrous oxide cartridges which are used as an illegal inhalant were found discarded in a guest corridor after the group checked out;
*A drug arrest in the adjacent parking lot of a person that police believe had ties to the RainFurrest group;
*A RainFurrest volunteer staff member was reported to have sexually assaulted a female attendee (the responding Sheriff charged the man);
*A guest room smoke detector was tampered with and discarded in a guest corridor;
*An elevator inner door cable was broken by an attendee trying to force the door open;
*A RainFurrest security staff member was seen using marijuana;
*Hilton received a phone call and follow up e-mail from an attendee complaining about rampant drug use and alcohol consumption that was allowed by RainFurrest staff.
