Hippies. The word seems to provoke people one way or the other. There are so many comments on my channel regarding people who "hate" hippies although mostly, what they are talking about, isn't about hippies at all. The hippies my team found when we were making our television series on the 1960s for primetime PBS (it aired on TV in 1991) were not political. They avoided politics. They also avoided for the most part cities. They were part of the counterculture. They mostly lived in the countryside. They provoked a national interest in organic food etc. Smoked dope for sure. Did a lot of other strange things and probably for the most part had loose free sex relationships. But they weren't the ones who for example, spit at returning Vietnam soldiers at the various airports of the United States. A very small group of political radicals did that who were aggressive and sometimes violent. Hippies had philosophies which many just went along with but some created. Aggressive behavior was disapproved of even if only spoken. Hippie clothing was unique. Fabrics were "natural". Art was very flowery some of the time. Travel through America and traveling the world to other hippie centers was a part of life. When the city got too hard, you went to the countryside. There were many hippie behaviors based on values and ethics and then repeated by people who wanted to be part of the community. Was it a cult? Some of the time. Was it a movement? Some of the time. Was it just teenagers not wanting to grow up - having a good time - living off the land or off mommy and daddy's money? Some of the time.
I interviewed many hippies or as some of them call themselves "x hippies" for my television series and for other films that I have made and most like that they were part of that generation and that movement. Some became practicing born-again Christians. Some became farmers. Some became stockbrokers and businessmen. Some teachers and social workers. To categorize their actions after the 60s as any one thing is incorrect (such as that they are all greedy business people today).
I am very proud of the TV series I made for PBS called Making Sense of the Sixties. I had the chance to spend a year examining my youth and how I became an active member of the 60s generation. If you are from that generation or a child of the 60s, I think you would find the entire series of value.
Here is a quote from Hesiod in the 8th Century BC “I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words. When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly disrespectful and impatient of restraint"

I come from a severely broken home. I was alone and living on the streets at age 13. At age 16 i tried LSD, mushrooms, mescaline. After that summer of experimentation. I knew exactly what i needed to do. I went on to become a banker. I am 44 now and i still will eat mushrooms every few years, to reflect upon my choices, and life as though from a third party perspective. On the flip side my friend tried lsd only once and it triggered serious schizophrenia and ruined his life forever. So it can be a double edged sword. If you want to try psychedelics, i would recommend mushrooms, not LSD. Nothing synthetic.

I believe there is truth to that. As I am wired different from other people, I have a natural apathy for hallucinent drugs. I have so many friends who tried various drugs to "open their mind" and grow spiritually. I am happy if it works for them, but Im always worried about them taking drugs. I know if I were to take lsd or something similar I would probably have a bad reaction, lose my mind or die as my mind naturally is so open already, I wouldnt tolerate that..

“Neurotypical” and “neurodivergent” are the language of your oppressors. So called “neurotypical” people, in most cases, are those who have experienced so much trauma, so early in life, that certain areas of their brains did not develop the way they should. What I’m saying is that the “normal” people are the most objectively “damaged”, which makes sense if you understand what a fallen world we live in. If you are using labels like “autistic”, “neurotypical”, and “neurodivergent”, I’m guessing you don’t understand this.

He wasn't lying or exegarating... That trip ... I am still in It.... It took me some time to understand the sound of my own name... , I needed a good 12 months to hear words properly , it sounded like giberish , i said " what " a lot as i needed to hear it a second time for it to make sense... The places that lsd took me into was wild i was never the same , it drasticaly altered my life ...i was only 14 at the time .. i dropped out of school after that , I work a lot with shamanic plants as an adult .... That trip at such a young age melted any walls that existed for me .. opened up a whole other reality to me in deep and profound ways....but also opened me up to the darker aspects of conciousness and the soul...

@@liammoltubakk2139I have the same views on this as you. As someone who’s done LSD and shrooms several times over the course of my life. This “awakening” everyone talks about seems to just be a self fulfilling prophecy. Placebo effect if you will. I suppose if taking LSD accomplishes what you set out to achieve by doing it, I guess that is reason enough?? But to act like the instant you do LSD, everything changes forever…it is so overblown out of proportion and not true in my eyes. At least to the extent that people often claim. I get maybe some new perspectives being introduced and such, but really? You took LSD and it changed the entire course of your life? Doubtful. (Unless you are one of the very very few who have an adverse reaction and get stuck in some sort of semi-permanent or permanent trip/psychosis.

@@nostarswithoutdarkness I’m so glad for you. I hope you know my comment wasn’t meant in any way to be critical. I’d actually love to try it but I’m so afraid of drugs so I would never take anything. I’ve just always been reflective, contemplative, searching for meaning, etc. I started putting myself in trances at around 8 years old - quite by accident - and had some pretty interesting experiences. I’ve also read a lot about near death experiences which can also be life changing. I guess it all served as escapism for me. Anyway, I just meant to say that I totally agree. @@ellengrace4609 Thank you for sharing that with me and it is quite alright, no offense taken. I really admire people that are naturally the way you describe. My escapism was to numb myself from my surroundings. Environment is so incredibly important and mine was one of negativity and hopeless atheism. I saw absolutely no point, as early as 10 years old to accumulate possessions in a lifelong battle against the world. Drugs helped me cope when I had no coping mechanisms to turn to. Not saying it was right, it was definitely wrong but it helped me survive however psychedelics helped me heal. I have become as you describe, mostly contemplative and observant. Typically quiet. I have learned that I do not matter, at all. What matters is how I treat people and the value I bring to their life. Like either paranoid, anxious, or things they would do would be very weird and I don’t mean in a “unique” way. And others who knew them would tell you they weren’t always like this. Point is, there are definitely some long term affects. People who are my age who tell me “oh it’s safe, it doesn’t harm the body, it’s natural, it’s a positive experience”……. Yea, no thank you. The thing about LSD is it does open you up to something one could consider transcendent. It's just that people know nothing of what they know nothing of... so that thing they're opening themselves up to could be anything. I know plenty of people who took LSD for a while and had wonderful experiences. Then one day it all changed, and things became horrifying. You hear of people experiencing Oneness with everything... and that sounds really nice... but let me ask you something: Why don't more of them speak about becoming one with serial killers and rapists? What if you did? What about becoming one with death, decay, war, hate, torture, apathy, boredom, anxiety, fear, pedophilia, bestiality, genocide, Nazi Germany, Pol Pot, Vlad the Impaler, even Satan himself? Evil itself is always conveniently edited out of these utopian visions. I wonder why. I mean, one could argue that these horrific things are more of a reality than infinite puppy dogs, rainbows, and kumbayah. Why do people who take these drugs suddenly become ignorant of reality the way really is? They say that they now see things clearer, and yet time and time again, they can't answer basic logical questions... like what about the problem of evil? What about all of these people you've ignored right around you while you fly off to India? Just some things for these poor souls to consider. A strong delusion means that one doesn't have the power to see or even reason beyond it. But there is inherent logical contradiction within the worldview of the psychedelic mindset which cannot be ignored just because the experience was beautiful or overwhelming or seemed to make sense. Schizophrenics think their delusions make perfect sense. That's why they often refuse to take their medication.
@philipchristiansen1495

The problems of evil are absolutely addressed on LSD if you take enough. It is simply seen that trauma and pain (lack of love) of the past is what makes people evil, and you experience compassion for people who do evil instead of judgment, because they did not choose their pain.

People with ambition to control their environment and play basic survival power dynamics as stated in the video suddenly give into irrationality and generational suicide. They seem to be dramatically delusional about many aspects of life, and don’t consider the reality of natures ruthlessness and our part in its struggle. Everything is connected, sure, that much is obvious, but it’s the way they react to this information, and don’t enact their purpose after taking it, that leads me to believe it’s not controlled enough, and is even damaging.

@@yaykruserlol g she was 16 why would you immediately go to overdose. Just because a 16 year old who does acid doesn't mean they take hard drugs all the time and she said one time as in her first time so I'm guessing they just dabbles in weed and shrooms like a lot of high schoolers do, there is no implications of hard drugs at all and idk why it would matter anyways but I'm willing to bet 100 dollars it was some freak accident like a car wreck. Overdose is wild to come up with from that statement sorry not to be rude it's just how did you get overdose from 16 and trying acid once. Also idk if you've ever done acid but it's really hard to die off acid. You'd have to take like 4 sheets which is probably like over 600 doses and a normal dose is 1

LSD does kind of make one realize that there’s more to life/humanity/spirituality than we previously had understood based on our experiences, what we had been taught up to that point, and what society has influenced us to believe. This awakening alone can and does cause a shift in perspective that would naturally lead to changes in our priorities and our self-reflection about who we are and what we desire to be.

That was 30 years ago, hands down one of the most positive and important moments of my teenage years. I benefited from it greatly but do feel I was lucky in that I was very comfortable in my own skin at 16; I was (and am) a very happy and confident individual with no experience of depression or social anxiety so perhaps that contributed to how positive doing acid was for me as a teen.

@kyleschneider7692 2 месяца назад
@Dr.UldenWascht I had the same effect. The first time I did LSD I did 800ug. The regular dose of LSD is 100ug. Before LSD I felt like a non sentient sociopath taking anything and everything I wanted. The first time I did LSD I got so frightened that I thought I ACTUALLY went insane. Until it made me submit to it as if I were standing right before God. I kept telling myself "if this is my life now, I'll make do with what I have" considering I felt insane and that I fucked something up inside myself. Before I knew it, the trip began to settle it gave me the most beautiful visuals I've ever had in my life. It made me see, or at least I thought that everything is connected to the universe. Which runs in one specific way. Replication, and inconsistency. This has conveyed to me a way of growth that is unorthodox, yet beneficial to a LOT of people I've come in contact with. I've read so many philosophy books after that, and I work out on a daily basis. I have been wanting to convey this through writing, how you can achieve this way of life WITHOUT taking LSD. Strangely enough, the things I tell people only work with people who are open minded. But since that point I've taken an IQ test and scored a 121. I can only think this is because of the reset of my brain, making my previous life before that moment just a memory or flip book of every moment in my life. In that moment it made me realise that this may not matter as much as it seems. And because it doesn't matter, I can do just about anything I really want to do. Which is what all people want to do deep down. Be a good person. My disillusionment lifted and my purpose in life was not to consume a lot of things and live a selfish life, but to help people. Which is where true good ideas are fostered. This has many facets which you can find a good opportunity. You may gain wealth, but I believe if you experienced what I did, you may live frugally. Or at least.. live like you live frugally. The idea is that everyone else around you, is wearing a mask. To become individual without all the problems is the goal, no matter how impossible that feat seems. That is God's will.

@Dr.UldenWascht 2 месяца назад
@@roboticfuzzball179 Oh, I absolutely agree. And that's on me for using inaccurate terminology, i.e. "getting freed from ego". I was trying to avoid the phrase 'dissolving the ego' and perhaps using 'weakening the ego' was more appropriate. Ego is a necessary part of managing a balanced life. Reportedly, people who have fully dissolved their ego (through drugs or otherwise) usually lack the minimum amount of ambition necessary to lead a normal life. Case in point, I know of people who were living happy and healthy lives and were by no means egotistical. Yet, upon taking LDS they left their jobs and families and pursued a hippy lifestyle in the woods. On the flip side, I also know of people who were complete a-holes and always aimed for dominating others. And by using LSD a single time, they suddenly turned normal and sympathetic. That's why when people report that using LSD has somehow enhanced a part of their life that requires ambition and some level of attention to self, I find it peculiar. Also, speaking of LSD's effect on individuals, I think there are 2 types. One is the result of each trip which is obviously effected by different internal/external factors. The other which is the main focus of LSD researchers, is the overall shift in perspective that occurs in an individual's core beliefs through introduction of LSD. This seems to be a permanent effect and often happens after a singular use.
