And in so doing lance what appears to be a paradox, and how he explains the sorrow of contrition. All the superficial resistance to "feelings" that were such a bore in the churches which I have attended over the last 40 years, is done away with. *Hedonism* is a word that John Piper has *redeemed* to better explain the joy and hope that we should strive in GOD...very good presentation. John Piper is never afraid to dive into the river streams of HOLY scriptures to dig for its beautiful treasures ...as usual thank you brother for your work in GOD for HIS people...the gospel and salvation are grand and should be more and more grand in the heart of HIS children...

Sin entered the world through Adam and death through sin and death spread to all mankind because all sinned. (Romans 5:12-13). Jesus Christ is the Passover lamb without blemish (1 Peter 1:19) for His elect by God’s sovereign grace (1 Corinthians 5:7). Just as the Israelites were released from Egypt after the death of the firstborn (Exodus 11-13) - Jesus Christ the firstborn of all creation (Colossians 1:15) justified all His elect at the cross from the wrath of God(Romans 5:9-11). Jesus willingly went to the cross (Philippians 2:8) and offered one sacrifice for all time for His elect He sanctified (Hebrews 10:11-14) as their representative and High priest. Jesus was crucified for the elect’s sin and raised for their justification (Romans 4:25). It pleased God the Father to crush His only begotten Son( Isaiah 53:10) and God the Father accepted Jesus’ perfect sacrifice on behalf of His sheep( Acts 2:23) . Jesus paid His elect’s sin debt and there is now no condemnation for those who are married to Christ (Romans 7-8). By Christ’s knowledge He justified all His elect (Isaiah 53:11) and finished His mission (John 19:30). All of God’s sheep will believe God’s testimony concerning Christ because Jesus justified them by His perfect sacrifice on the cross. Not one sheep Jesus died for will perish. Jesus is the good shepherd. Faith(believing God’s testimony concerning Jesus) is the fruit of what Jesus accomplished for His sheep. God’s sheep are righteous before God by the imputed righteousness of Christ provided at the cross as prophesied in Psalm 32 and fulfilled in John 19. All Jesus died for are regenerated at God’s appointed time to believe God’s testimony concerning Christ on who Christ is and what He did at the cross( Acts 13:48).
@@JH324 And how do you know that he isn’t? Sure, I myself have no way of knowing if he is telling the truth. But I am willing to keep it in abeyance and give him the benefit of the doubt. With more than 265 years having elapsed since Jonathan Edwards passing, his descendants are probably numerous by now, so it’s hardly like the OP is making a staggering claim.
Maximise desire for the things of the world during the week ,Monday to Saturday and Minimize our desire for God to Sunday for one to two hours and rush back to the world to enjoy ourselves .
It was placed in my heart today, to listen to, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. After which was compelled by the Holy Spirit, to recommit to the cause of Christ and rededicate what is left of this life on Earth, to service of Him, who alone has truly loved me since my creation.
Johnathan Edwards owned six slaves including Venus, Titus, Leah, Rose, Joseph and Sue. John Wesley was a keen abolitionist, speaking out and writing against the slave trade. Wesley denounced slavery as "the sum of all villainies" and detailed its abuses.
The title doesn't sound right; didn't listened to the entire sermon, and truly don't believe I need to, I have in the past seen how some of these word usages are perhaps well meant, but only serve to tickle people's ears and send the message that it is okay to stretch the meaning of some words, the result in some cases is that people end up calling evil good, and if the pastor does it, why can't I with other words, becomes the mentality. Dangerous ground, in my opinion, I do like and respect John Piper, but don't agree with everything he says, come to think, we're not to agree with people, we are to agree with the Truth, the Lord Jesus!

It’s impossible for an unregenerate man to repent, only a man with the Spirit of God can truly repent. It is for the unregenerate to simply believe and accept what Christ did for him in order to receive the Holy Spirit. Then starts the life of repentance and resting in Christ moment by moment
"Christian hedonism" Oh Mr. Piper. Christian hedonist is a contradiction. Stop using this self- adulating term. Just say joyful or rejoicing. stick to biblical terminology.. The word hedonist doesn't belong in the realm of God's light. or His word.

If anybody studied or read ANYTHING bout Hedonism-you would know that Jonathan Edwards was not...Hedonistic in nature. Period. That’s in anyway shape or-form.

Your ignorance of the Greek language is lamentable, especially when you’re misapplying this word to such a man whose life and walk with the Lord is worthy of imitation; how much more his writings. If he influenced you, as you state explicitly, you would be speaking his language. Since you dare to call him a Hedonist, you may also call David Brainerd, Paul, Peter, John, just to name a few hedonists, including the Lord Himself. See how far you will go.
