I got an 04 6.0 we live in the Sacramento area in California 230,000 miles just got back from a two week trip to Seattle towing a 30’ rv and it did awesome I still love it. Maintenance is really key on these
I love your videos. Im still learning myself. Ive had my 06 6.0 since may 2021. With all the haters i love my truck. Ive owned several trucks in my life and by far this is my favorite. Mine also has 181k miles on stock head bolts, stock egr, oil cooler(which needs replacing already).
I use hot shots everyday treatment ever fill up. I also use amsoil 5w 40 hd full synthetic oil. No additives. Mine has the sinister diesel blue spring. Alloy works 3 row radiator, chrome and polished cac tubes with boots. Ive cleaned the stock turbo veins due to stiction, clean the egr valve due to being clogged, has a 4" superlift 4 link suspension lift with 5100 bilstein shocks, mbrp 4" turbo back straight pipe exhaust with a 5" inch tip. Its still a work in progress. Bigger turbo, injectors, oringed heads, ipr oil cooler kit etc.
I used to use hot shots EDT, but I did find out that there was something better on the market. I use Optilube XL along with amsoil cetane boost. I also run Amsoil 15w-40 with archoil every now and then
I have an 04 6.0 Harley Davidson black/orange. I’ve owned it since brand new and it now has 114k. It finally let me down by blowing out the back of the Hpop round clip end section. I’ve probably flushed the cooling system at least 5-6 times and use fuel treatment and always change the oil at 7,500 with synthetic oil for diesel’s. I want a new truck but I’m not willing to spend high dollars and high interest rates. I do love my ole 04!
Thank you!! We are stoked! The build will be put on hold for a little bit but that's okay, big plans coming and I will do my best to keep up with my posting schedule!
im looking at buying an 04 excursion with the 6.0, im new to the diesel world. i want to do reliable upgrades right away. hoping to turn it into a beast of an engine. was looking for a 7.3 but not to many in my area.
Completely new to thee diesel game just bought a 6.0 yesterday has already been bulletproofed! Has one small issue where it will shut off after like 30 mins of driving shuts off and have to wait a couple mins. Was told it could be something in thee fuel pump some plastic pieces gonna get it looked at
A 6.0l gets more hate than a 6.4l. The way i always saw it was sure a 6.4l make way more power ans doesnt blow head gaskets. But when a 6.4l goes boom its an entire engine replacement. A 6.0l goes boom you replace the parts with quality ford parts and keep going. Im big on keeping stuff "original" as in my 01 7.3l excursion has 363k on it with the original engine. I like having the milage on the original engine. Its like a game lmao. Im gonna get a 6.0l when i can iv always loved the 6.0l i learned to drive in a 2005 f250 5.4l and man i fell in love with the design of first gen superduties the face life era is easily my favorite and timeless design. I get in my excursion and im like damn it looks old. Not super old but you knwo what i mean. I get in npw my dads again 05 5.4l f250 and the design was just perfect. The gauges dont give the old feel the digital odo while not new to the f250 just keeps it fresh. I still to this day have 0 idea why ford went back to a rolling odo when the obs trucks had digital but to me its just c l e a n.
Did you drop your truck to stock height? If so, did you use OEM suspension parts or did you use an aftermarket setup? I've got an 05 that ive owned since new and i put a 6" Fabtec radius arm lift on it within a year but its now used exclusively as a tow rig and id like to get a better ride out of it.
Don't think this topic needs yet another 20+ minute video does it? The basic answer is simple: -Install gauges -Remove the EPA crap (EGR, etc) -Coolant filter -ARP head studs -Updated Fuel Pressure Regulator spring
Dude you only have 110k miles on ur truck. Wait until you get upward 300k . And then give me advice. You really haven't had issues yet. Wait until you have to replace 8 injectors and a turbo for 4k$ some of this stuff is outrageous
