The last time I spent time with my grammie was at her apartment after she sold the homestead. She was an amazing cook. Hamburger steak, whipped potatoes, green beans and bread budding (with warm butter sauce and cream drizzled over top) for dessert. Country tea along side. OMG. That bread pudding she made on the fly and it baked while she cooked and came out right before we ate. Thank you for recalling that memory for me, Tammy. God bless.
I'm 70 years old and lost my mother's recipe for her bread pudding. I have been looking for ages for a recipe like hers but never found one. Although I have tried many other recipes which are really good, this one is exactly like my mom's. Now I remember that if she didn't have evaporated milk at home, she would just use regular full cream milk and it came out perfect. With 8 children, nothing went to waste and every week all left over bread was made into bread pudding. She didn't make the sauce and it was just as delicious. Thankyou for finally ending my search and finding a recipe like mom's ❤
My daughter and I worked in an Italian Deli ( early 1990's. )A German Lady, a Romanian grandma, an Irish cook, 3 Italian woman worked magic in the kitchen. Some of the recipes were from the 1930's. We lived in an Italian neighborhood, so,I would ask my mama if she wanted to try these little homemade treasures. One was the bread pudding. Love your grandma's treat. 💜💚💛💙❤
I'm am a huge bread pudding fan and have order it in many places around the country but this is the best I've ever eaten. I have never been disappointed with your recipes.
Oh I love pudding bread, never knew anyone who could make it or ever seen it made by anyone only at a restaurant, yum thank you for such a delicious memory ☺️ of a good treat I have always loved , now to make it myself and share it with my sisters who none have f them or my mom have ever made this special pudding bread yum 👍💕☺️🌺 they will love it and want to make it too 😉
My parents owned a restaurant and our cook made this when she had x number of rolls! She froze them n then would make this with a simple glaze but this looks so much better with cream sauce! Lol can’t wait to try!
And it is easy to make, I made the vanilla sauce in a pot on the stovetop, thickened up quickly. Thank you Tammy. I grew up in the country with bread pudding, that my Grammy and mother made. A touch of nostalgia is good for the soul!
Not eating bread pudding is akin to being un-American, lol! Yum. I also love Scalloped Tomatoes, hint hint for people who have never ate scalloped tomatoes. 😃
My mama used leftover biscuits and crumbled them up fine and added chocolate to it. Tasted like chocolate cake when it was done. I'm going to try this one.
I've got 6 Kaiser rolls I gotta use up so ima make this delicious recipe. That cream sauce has been in my family since the depression. My husbands mom used to make it and serve it over buttered toast.! Yum
👊🏿Good job Ms. Tammy!🏆 Unbelievably delicious looking!👌🏿 Looks like my grandmama's bread pudding from back in the day at our Sunday dessert table growing up in SC ...🙏🏿 So I know its good!😋
I’ve got some Artisan White bread, left over from making Cucumbers Tea sandwiches, I am going to make your granny’s bread pudding with it. I used to soak raisins until plump and add to my bread pudding, I’ve even added chopped English Walnuts as well. 🌹♥️
Another well-timed recipe! I tried to make bread pudding using a recipe my cousin gave me....ended up having to toss it! This is less complicated and looks delicious! Can't wait to fix it!
LOVE BREAD PUDDING...MOMMA USE TO MAKE IT OFTEN BEEN MANY YEARS SINCE I'VE HAD ANY...THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES...HOPE YAL HAD WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS 🤶 AND HAVE HAPPY NEW YEAR
Bread pudding is my number one *favorite* dessert!!! First time I ever had some was at this place called "Mimi's Cafe" and it was topped with bourbon soaked raisins, oh goodness it was the most divine thing I ever tasted!!! This recipe looks scrumptious as well ♥
Hello Tammy, I just ordered all four of your cookbooks. And I've been really enjoying revisiting with you, some of my Mom & Grand Mom's recipes and dishes.
I too have recipe cards handwritten by my grandmother and my mom. Since they are both gone, when I use them I feel they are with me in the kitchen. I am a sucker for bread pudding. This recipe looks so good. I might add a little rum to the sauce though. Happy new year Tammy and Steve!! Thanks for all the love.
I don't remember eating bread pudding however you make it look absolutely beautiful so per usual you have inspired my curiosity and I am going to make this for the first time. Thank you and please know your wisdom and how you teach us all is very much appreciated
Hi Tammy! Oh my! Bread pudding is one of those comfort foods that always seems to bring back memories of meals at grandmother's or a favorite aunts. Never measured a thing but boy, oh boy those gals could cook!! We've certainly enjoyed your family's bread pudding, too. The measurements help!! LOL We've served either a lemon sauce or brown sugar sauce with bread pudding so am definitely looking forward to trying your cream sauce. I know it's good!!! Thanks for another video y'all! 🌞
So this comment doesn’t have to do with this video, but I wanted to tell you that my mother-in-law bought some white lily vanilla pound cake mix from the store and we made the cake for my husband and he absolutely loved it!! I was able to give it to him on Christmas which cheered him up because he had to work on Christmas! I hadn’t heard of white lily flour before we watched your channel, so I wanted to tell you how much I liked it!❤
Bread pudding is my favorite! I've been trying to find a good recipe that tastes like my grannies did. I'll definitely try yours. She made a delicious nutmeg sauce to go over hers.
Wow!!! That looks fantastic!! I can't wait to make it. You know, I didn't have the pleasure of cooking with either of my grandmothers. They both lived in Europe. Sad but true. 😔
I love bread pudding! Y'all gotta be one of the greatest cooks and nice too! I save all your recipes, thanks so much! Question: what do you do if you don't have a microwave for the vanilla sauce? Thanks
Tammy, I had just bought a carton of eggs from the store and cracked one in the skillet and cracked another one in the skillet. I had to throw them out because the second egg had a lot of blood in it. So I learned to always crack them one at a time in a bowl, no matter how fresh they are, even from the store.
Hello Tammy, youare such a Joy to watch and i love Bread Pudding. That sauce is he bomb girl. Thanks for sharing. God Bless You and Chris and the Girls.
I'm so happy you posted this recipe. I have been looking for one that was simple. This one take the "pudding" I can't wait to make it. I'll be having left over donuts and I think I'll use that.
The best bread pudding I've ever had had a vanilla cream sauce on it!!! Thanks to you I can now make my own!!! I hope you guys had a Very Merry Christmas!!! God Bless!!!
No bread? No biscuits? Have hamburger or hot dog buns? They make great bread pudding. When you crave something and must have it and live miles from the nearest store you get creative.
