The Space marines from Warhammer 40k are trans human super soldiers. we all know this, but what does that even mean? are they still human or something more? aside from their extensive training, rigorous reconditioning, and century's of combat experience, they are also given 19 implants that have a wide array of effects, some being super weird, well others are crazy powerful. lets take a look at the 19 implants a space marine receives that makes him better than us regular humans.

question here, i dont know where to read from 40k lore, so amm whats that thing on the back of the space marine armor thats above there head, and seeing that its called power armor does that mean it has some type of reactor in it or does a space marine just lift the entire thing

So I actually wanted to give you the answer to the question “how many kids actually become marines” and the odds are surprisingly high. In the book Dante, it goes over the training, recruitment and eventually ascension of the Space marine Dante. Now it doesn’t explicitly say, but if you do some quick math, you can actually work out to a percentage of around 5%. For the run down, 500 boys from Baal Secondus, and 500 from Baal Primus. So 1,000 in total. However after insane training and testing. Eventually the amount is brought down to 57, and after implantation, only 48 survive the full process. So just under 5%. Now I’d honestly argue two parts. One, the pool of recruits could be A LOT HIGHER, if they started genetically testing if recruits a lot sooner. Cause if you do the math, 88% of people have the potential to become marines, but they kill so many of their new recruits that they could’ve gotten way more marines lol. The second part, is according to the Horus Heresy, the Blood Angel Gene seed was stated to have a high compatibly rate. Which is why they were able to maintain a decent fighting force despite being used as shock troops in the worst battlefields. So maybe that 88% genetic compatibly rate isn’t accurate across the board. But otherwise, 5% is surprisingly high.

The difference between the two "Half-Marines" you mention, Luther and Kor Pheron is interesting. Like how almost all the Dark Angels saw Luther as a true marine and not just an equal to them, but as a second Primarch. But Kor Pheron of the Word Bearers, who was the adopted father of the primach they all loved, was looked down upon by most and they talked about him behind his back etc. Shows you how Luther could make so many join him, while the loyalty to Kor Pheron was just due to proxy and for a chance to gain a bit of extra power.

Hey Wes, here's a funny story from my dad that used to work at GW in old days. When business was slow in store they used to invent mini games for the heck of it. Such as squig racing. Take a bunch of squigs. (Or any model with random movement) and draw a track like a running track on the table. Roll for movement each turn, first to get their Squig across the finish line wins. Bumping into another Squig sends them back to the start.

the progenoid gland has a less well known but more important function aswell it doesnt just function as a data collection centre for reproduction but is also the organ that merges with the aspirants nervous system and makes it bind to all the new organs properly along with ensuring the aspirants bodys genetics are adjusted so it becomes one with the implants and does not reject it it is what merges all the previous implants together and finally makes the space marine before this stage you would have a heavily augmented human, after this its no longer human and augmentations but one posthuman also on a more mundane level but incredibly important, prevents the marine to eventually become allergic to all the weird stuff crammed into his body *4 more, in an ideal world every fallen marine produces 4 glands that can make 4 new marines thats what made previous attempts at making supersupersoldiers fail like the ravens attempt at making better marines faster made a success rate lower then 1/4, so while he was succesfull at making amazing new marines fast the project was afaliure since it would deplete the geneseed stores already low after the istvan massacre atleast until chaos helped get that survival rate to acceptable lvls

For vision, the two numbers (i.e. 20/20) represent the apparent distance versus a standard distance. The bottom number is usually 20, representing what a normal person can see at 20 feet. The top number is a representation of what the evaluated person's performance was at that distance and lower numbers are considered to be superior vision; so a number of 40 means that this person sees an object at 20 ft as a normal person would see it at 40 ft. So Space Marines probably have something like 10/20 or even 5/20 vision and thus are able to perceive at 20 ft what a normal person only notices from 5 ft away.
@24fretsoffury

“Hey, Weshammer. I been a lot of your Warhammer content a lot and slowly becoming a fan of it. So I was been wondering something in my mind of the universe of 40k. And been heavily wondering what the universe would still be, if the “Horus Heresy” was prevented. If the Emperor tells his sons about Chaos and know Erebus. And also been wondering how the universe would still be if the “Horus heresy” was prevented in the year of 40k. It just bothers me of how it would be if the emperor could’ve prevented it all of this”
@weshammer
@weshammer 2 года назад
Some say that this may have all been according to the emperor's plan, that he knew half of the primarchs would turn against him. That maybe he really was trying to become a God, like Horus feared and this was the way to do it. Maybe it was for malicious reasons, or maybe it was so he would be powerful enough to finally defeat the chaos gods. There's so many unanswered questions It's all left super vague and the emperor is an incredibly complicated character, that's made even more complicated by hundreds of authors having different interpretations of him and his motivations. Which personally I love! I love a good mystery. But I don't really know the answer to this question, on paper the Galaxy would have been dominated by mankind and he would have built a perfect utopia. But I don't think that's really what he was planning
@halfknight2310
@halfknight2310 2 года назад
Well, firstly, many marines would retire. As many characters had plans for after the great crusade. Like Ariman (I don’t know how to spell), who had a vineyard. Where he brew wine. And he wanted to continue when he was going to retire. So this is what I think will Happen. Without the heresy, the brotherly love would be more frequent. Like ferrus and fulgrim. Perturabo and Rogal dorn would likely be partners in building cities together. Since both loved creating stuff and didn’t overly enjoy war. Angron would be dead, as the nails in his head would have killed him eventually. Konrad would likely become a head of justice in the imperium. While Guilleman would work in accounting and resource management for the imperium. Magnus would likely be helping the emperor with the human webway project. Making sure it is safe and secure with his powers. Malcador and the emperor would also likely train magnus properly to handle his powers. Now, some primarchs will not be entirely happy. Mortarian had a hatred for the emperor due to “stealing” Mortarian’s vengeance. But will remain loyal due to his odds. Lorgar will probably be killed, since he would likely rebel due to the burning of monarchia (if it were to happen.) or he would be loyal and help spread the imperial truth. The imperium as a whole would be far stronger and chaos would be weaker. Humanity will advance far beyond what was thought possible. They will have their own webway thanks to the emperor, Malcador and magnus. So no need to worry so much about warp travel. Maybe the imperium would build alliances with the tau and eldar. Since they would be better at fighting chaos together. The tyranids would take longer to ever reach the galaxy. As it was due to a battle during the Horus heresy that drew their attention.

20/20 means at 20 feet you can clearly see what most people see from 20 feet, which is considered normal. 20/10 means at 20 feet you can see details that most people can't see until they close the distance to 10 feet. This is elite human vision, as good as it gets. An eagle has 20/5 and even 20/4 depending on the conditions. The first number is the baseline 20 feet. The second number is what the clarity at 20 feet appears like to you. So 20 feet appears like it's at 40 feet for someone 20/40.

I saw your video the other day on how to get started in Warhammer and really enjoyed it. 'Having seen a portion of the series' library I pretty much gave up immediately on getting into it that way, but that little tidbit about there being no real starting point was very encouraging. I've since gotten your Caiaphas Cain and Brutal Kunnin' recommendations and one other book called the Crimson Fists Omnibus (part of a sale) and am looking forward to getting started. Thanks again for the video :) Also, looking forward to a December release of a book on the trench boys of Krieg.

They have the Emperor. The hulking infantry in power armour. The Psions (Psykers?). Huge guys called Titans... the list goes on. If this question has been asked before I apologise. @@weshammer I can say definitely it's a partial byproduct of the Occulobe, Lyman's Ear, and Neuroglottis: faster, more detailed, sensory intake speeds up an Astartes' mental processing and reflexes. However, and this is OLD lore -- like, 2nd/3rd edition, Index Astartes, lore -- it's a byproduct of the Catalepsean Node as well. We're talking lore so old it was back in the days when the Occulobe allowed Astartes to (at least partially) see into the infrared and ultraviolet spectra. So, mountain of salt. IF I remember that lore right, and I may well be not, the Catalepsean Node doesn't just regulate sleeping patterns, it allows the Astartes to multi-task to a startling degree as well. Sort of like a combination of overclocking and multiprocessing at the same time. It has a higher physiological and psychological toll than sleep regulation, but it's a useful function regardless. Or it might have just been one legion and its descendant chapters whose gene-seeds had that capacity. I remember the Blood Ravens have a flaw in their Catalepsean Nodes, that they have eidetic memories but don't dream (which good video idea, who are the Blood Ravens' founding Legion and why is it the Thousand Sons).

I'm pretty sure you're close, I can't remember how specifically but I believe they are at least able to get quicker, very accurate sensory info from their surroundings compared to you or I especially in situations that would give regular humans a sensory overload. I also believe that they are natural tactical geniuses, capable of predicting their enemies plans and moves way ahead of them. Don't take any of this as gospel, I've been passively enjoying 40k lore for about a decade but also I smoke a whole lot of weed so memories hit or miss.

What makes a space marine and custodies different is quality whereas space marines ironically and funnily enough are meant to be elite warriors however a space marine for a want of a better term are glorified cannon fodder where they’re basically built for mass scale production and warfare and whilst their organs and modifications are advanced their quality isn’t even close to that of a custodies where a marine might be the peak of human evolution the custodies are as close to godhood than a human whereas unlike a normal space marine they’re are far larger, stronger and capable of surviving an attack that would normally kill a space marine such as a ten inch hole through their chest would instantly kill a normal space marine however a custodies would be able to fight for several hours and if given sufficient medical attention could even survive and not only that custodies unlike their brothers which have a life span of about a thousand or so years if lucky, however a custodies is essentially immortal where some of the custodies are the same ones who fought during the unification war over ten thousand years ago, and it’s not just their bodies but their armor is on a whole different level, whereas space marine armor might be master crafted, most of the time space marines would hand down their power armor or use parts cannibalised from their fallen, unlike the custodies which are all custom built to the absolute highest of quality and is made from the finest materials and only from a specialized and select few and if a custodies were to ever die then their armor would be housed in a mosoleum where their names and deeds will be remembered (mostly by other custodies or just cut down/ custodies don’t have names like bob, homer or joe, instead they’re names are that of their awards where it will be etched onto the inside of their armor however some custodies names are so long they’re covering the ousting and to simplify the answers Imagine being named after every single achievement on your Xbox or PlayStation and I mean everything from every game you ever played as well as your rewards and now turn all of those achievements and rewards into your name and you just keep on expanding after every new reward

In reguards to the responsiveness of a patient in brain surgery. I can 100% confirm that even today there are procedures that require the patient to be lucid and sober, as my Grandfather underwent neurological surgery to attempt treatment of his parkinson's disease. In which he had to give yes/no answers to a series of questions and then had to give an emotional response to make sure that the rods in his head were touching the right nodes... while he sits up straight, with a hole in his head. In my opinion their immortality, like elves or at least living 10× of that a normal avg human max while always being as youthful as a 30 years old , is the most powerful ability. Then comes height and muscles. Everything else is just fancy for WH40k crazy battlefields if technology got lost. Their power armoer is more powerful than SM. That is their primary power on battlefield. Without the armor protection their size in a battlefield with guns makes them easy targets for one shots. Also it what gives their legendary strength and endurance. Some humans in real world exceptions warriors in history could potentially defeat a SM (without their advance equipment) in one vs one (especially as a young new member). For example LuBu or LanPo or Qaqai.
