Welcome to Amity Tracks. This is a channel where we discuss a wide range of music related topics. The focus will be on music from the 1960’s through the 1990’s, but not exclusively. Classic rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, hard rock, jazz, blues, folk, country, soul…all genres are fair game. From time to time we may dabble in other popular culture, such as film, history or sports. But music is primarily what we do here. The focus is on the music and the artists. We hope to encourage an open and dynamic community with fun and informative discussions not only in the videos, but also in the comments section. Please note that, while disagreement and discussion is welcome, no personal attacks or out of bounds comments will be tolerated. We want to be a part of the positive larger vinyl community and other like-minded, music focused communities.

Two albums I bought for the album covers completely changed my music taste: Kansas; Song For America Supertramp: Crime Of the Century These two albums led me down the prog rock road. I still enjoy some basic rock, hard rock, and jazz rock, but prog is my favorite genre. kansas and Supertramp are still my two favorite artists

The Bill Evans album title is rather cheesy

Early Beatles shot for Please Please Me, and they returned for Get Back, not released. Allen Klein, the King of compilations, topped his Hot Rocks $$ with Red and Blue

Wow! Toy is terrible. Thanks for the nightmares. That CSN one is awful too. Living it up by roasting wienies on the moon? Love that Dr. John one. Going to look for it. Excellent video. Cool to learn you teach history too. I’d imagine you’re quite great at it.

Thanks! Dude, that Dr. John album is SO great. Love the cover, but the music is some awesome psychedelic, swampy stuff. I do enjoy teaching, although I wish it paid a bit better. Been enjoying your videos, as well. I like the new series. I'll comment later.

Man, you just blew my mind! I've owned Bela Fleck & The Flecktones' first few albums for years, and never picked up on that connected "zooming out" cover art scheme until you pointed it out! I usually fancy myself relatively intelligent, but obviously, sometimes I can miss what's literally staring me in the face. :) Great video!

I purchased the first Van Halen album based on the Cover, it was a good decision.

I love the Van Halen cover of 1984, it reminds me of baroque depictions of little angels doing cheeky things like nibbling from a honey pot, pulling each other's feathers, making each other cry, and so on. In this respect, Van Halen are part of an artistic tradition that goes way back in history. I also like the cover of the follow-up album to Elminator, Afterburner, by ZZ Top. You can have different opinions about the music (I love it) but the cover is definitely great. I think my favourite album cover ever is Midnight Oil's "Diesel and Dust"

Amongst the worst, I would have the white album by the Beatles and the Black album by Metallica, they are just the most boring designs. Then of course there is a whole bunch of terrible cover photography, they usually do not age very well, sometimes within a few years. A lot of them are pretty lazy mugshots. The exceptions, however, are amongst the finest cover art, like everything Francis Wolff did (e.g. Blue Train by John Coltrane). My favorites in no particular order - Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen - Abraxas by Santana - Blue Train by John Coltrane - Underground by Thelonious Monk - Breakfast In America by Supertramp - Homogenic by Björk (could be any of the first couple of albums) - Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix - Led Zepplin III by, well, you know who Worst cover of all time on an album I love: Blind Faith (the original cover, of course).

That Blind Faith cover is criminal. Good pics with the Born To Run (iconic), Coltrane and Supertramp.
