Thank you for the effort you put forth in making the videos you do; the pieces you got are really amazing and it’s a plus that you were really considerate in what you wanted. Also; I had a similar experience on grailed as well, I bought some Tabi boots and they were marked a size 43 and the seller shipped a size 44; had to go thru PayPal and ship them back to him and the person purposely never picked up the item and it got retuned to me. I lost the case on PayPal because of this. I’m not really sure if grailed could helped or anything but what you said about just sort of eating the loss and try to pass it along so to speak is a good mindset. It’s frustrating ppl are dishonest about things but it’s like that when buying online as you said so well. In the end tho it’s really amazing you got to have such pieces you enjoy. Thank you for you videos; thank you for you time.

Old Visvim never dies just gets holes that are unrepairable. I feel like the amount of effort and detail that goes into the making their clothes is insane but seems like their clothes aren’t too durable. I wonder if there is anyway Visvim could follow the same techniques but make stuff as durable as Iron Heart. How long do you think that shirt or sweater would last if you don’t baby it? I recently purchase a kofu tunic off Grailed and had a very similar experience as your sweater. Had holes in it that were not listed. I’m getting it repaired by a tailor but sucks to buy such an expensive piece that doesn’t hold up well unless it’s babied. I want a Kofu jacket but am hesitant because there’s no info on how durable it is. I love my Grizzlies, 7 Holes, and FBTs. Have no gripes with their footwear.

Honestly i think the highland knit is an exception mainly because it’s hand knit and unavoidably delicate. The rest of it really feels durable. The button down is super thick and tough in its material and the poundmakers also don’t disappoint. I’ve also been really impressed by their quality in my iris jkt and some of my hoodies i have from them. But those are my observations, i don’t want to claim anything i don’t own of course.

@@stylesgraeme I don’t know if these pieces will ever be as desired or sought after in the future as a lot of us that are into Visvim believe they will be. A lot of stuff sits on Grailed for months on end unless they are priced pretty low.

@SeemeonMars i’m not talking about resell, i mean preserving the craftsmanship of something like gara bou that won’t necessarily be around forever. i’m sorry if that was not clear. pretty much something i will have forever they will just be like a piece of art at least to myself

I think everyone eventually finds a brand that fits well. That’s one of the reasons I like visvim, their 4 tends to fit my body shape well!

These Japanese brands with these unjustifiable prices... such a cliche at this point.
@stylesgraeme
@stylesgraeme Год назад
I think it really depends what you’re looking for. Visvim is about as expensive as it gets in terms of americana japanese fashion, even companies like OrSlow have much more comparable prices to other well made cut and sew labels. As I tried to communicate in the video, something like the black elk flannel i see far more as fit for a museum piece given its unique construction and dyeing which i think somewhat justifies a high price (still not the retail though). Also don’t forget these products are usually cheaper at retail cost in Japan. When you compare it beyond that to a French couture piece which costs six figures it leaves you with even more questions than answers.

Loved the video! Does vis advise you to treat / condition the leather on boots in anyway for that extra weatherproofing + longevity of the uppers? Also pronunciation of garabou is more gah-rah-bow
@stylesgraeme

appreciate the tip i’ll make sure and pronounce it right next time. i wish there was an english dub on the dissertation video would def help me learn beyond the text below it. about the boots, i didn’t treat them with anything and i would be apprehensive to bc of the damage processing and the diff material on the toe vs the upper. i am away rn but when i am home i can check the care tag to see what they say. i bought them used i can’t remember if i said that. i think ppl def treat their virgils just not sure abt the other models.

Every RU-vidr that has a channel that showcases Visvim always buys second hand. Which tells me that most don’t think the retail price is worth it. There’s plenty of other companies that sell boots that are made from of different hides other than cow are naturally dyed and are handmade that cost half or a third of what Visvim retails for. Love the brand and the stories behind the products but starting to realize Hiroki might be selling some snake oil.
@stylesgraeme

that’s why i specifically say in the video not to worship him lol. the boots are actually the only thing i think is worth the retail. i paid maybe 200 dollars under that for a lightly used pair. comparing my yuketens which even have leather from the same tannery there is still a massive level up in quality and feel. i guess at the end of the day it’s all preference but i bought my yuketens thinking they would be as nice as visvim boots and while they are amazing, i was really blown away by my poundmakers

@@stylesgraeme I will say it’s the design that drew me to Visvim’s footwear. Nothing looks like the Grizzly boots and 7 Holes which are my favorite models. My next boot I want to buy are the TWO boots in suede preferably sand or light brown but there are other comparable brands that make just as good as that model so I have some thinking to do.

Most of the exclusive in-store / i.c.t. pieces will sell out instantly, especially the leather jackets and i.c.t. boots. There's definitely a market that purchases visvim at retail, one here on yt that I can think of @vladi iotov.
@SeemeonMars
@SeemeonMars Год назад
@@manfredmar the videos I’ve seen from Him he said he uses proxy’s from Japan and buys used also. I know people buy Visvim at retail prices. I was just saying the mark up on their products are fishy and not be because of quality and production because plenty of brands source the same leather and produce hand made boots and leather goods.
@manfredmar
@manfredmar Год назад
@@SeemeonMars Using a proxy is like buying retail, he's not getting a discount. He also buys a lot in-store and at their Trunk shows, e.g. recently he bought a leather jacket and a pair of i.c.t. boots, both in-store, both extremely expensive items. There's nothing "fishy" with their markup, do some more research on the production of some of their items, it's ridiculous what they do just to get some shade of colour or a type of fade on a pair of jeans. A lot of brands buy from the same leather tanneries, that does not mean they have to be priced the same, if visvim don't make the items in-house by their own craftsmen then they will source the best to do it. However, it can be argued that their basic items, ones with no damage processing, special dyeing etc., are overpriced/not worth retail. But items are worth what people are willing to pay for them, and a lot of people buy those items, so who am I to say.
