What 'married forever' actually means...

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church or LDS Church), members believe they can be married to their spouse for time (while both are living) and for ALL ETERNITY (even after death).
We believe that we can live forever with every member of our family. We believe that Jesus Christ broke the bands of death and as such, allowed every single person EVER to live for eternity, no matter the religious affiliation or decisions made while on the earth. We believe that death doesn't have to be the end but that life can be continued forever. HOW COOL!!!

As a newlywed of almost 27 years no, I have found one thing that has blessed my marriage it the knowledge that it is eternal. Being sealed in the temple has given my wife and I a focus and deeper commitment to each other. Marriage is not a fairly tale, it is not eternal bliss. It is truly a labor of love that takes time, patience and practice. It takes forgiveness and compassion and is a lot of work. Knowing that we are working toward an eternal goal, I know I strive my best to be the man that my wife would want to be sealed to for eternity. I'm pretty sure she is working to be the same way.

Mark 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. You need to really reaserch your beliefs because if they do not line up with what Almighty Father God has told us your following "anouther gospel" and need to return back to TRUTH. Time is very short... Soon the wheat will be seperated from the tares... Satan is very good at deceiving Gods children trading the truth with a lie. If something doesn't line up with My Scripture you really should question it especially if it's something Satan was kicked out of heaven for! Like believing he could be like God...isn't that what Mormonisum teaches? You can be good and goddess? I'm telling you this in love and because time is so short... Please pray Father God will show you truth in His Holy Word.

@@Tamara-yf7zt You don't have a correct understanding of this Scripture! I was obviously seadled to my husband before death!!!! So it applys! We are the most learned people when it comes to the scriptures! I have been to a MILLION other churches, they make stuff up as they go! They don't, even study the scriptures, all the Bible's are left at church! And drum set's and guitars along with mics, everywhere, they seem to focus on things that don't actually matter, for one's salvation! We have little churches out by me ,where the preacher's are now saying there prophet's of God! These preacher's get PAID TO PREACH, they have there certification saying there now preacher's! They have no priesthood line of authority of any kind! I'm a Temple worker I know first hand what goes on in the church! Are people was a renowned cardiologist, known throughout the WORLD! We have the most educated people in our church, and most of us speak two language's! Are Bishop and his councilors Don't get paid to PREACH, we're a church with all Volunteers! So I know all I need to know, about my faith!!!!🌷👱‍♀️ And as a Christian you have to except that fact that POLYGAMY was practiced in the BIBLE, God's most RIGHTEOUS men had many wives and combines! And other church's don't have apostles, or Temple's! 15 years ago I say a catholic wedding that I attended, and the priest said that the couple was now married forever, and this was requested by the wife to be because she was very upset that my marriage was forever and her faith, did not offer eternal marriage!This happened because, other religions will do whatever you ask of them, without sticking to the actual truth of what there supposed to believe because they don't want to loose members!

@@Tamara-yf7zt Yeah you need to research that scripture better. It was a warning to the saducees who did not believe in both the resurrection AND marriage. He warns them that this is the life to get married, no new marriages will be made hereafter. Not to mention other scriptures clearly demonstrate it was possible, and Christ taught MANY things in the temple that weren't written down or were lost. Here is one for you :) Mark 10:6-9 6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; ... 9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Combine this with the authority Peter received from Christ to bind both in heaven and on Earth and you can clearly have eternal, sealed, marriages as God has instituted.

I'd say get married civilly first, and wait the year to get sealed. Eternity is a very very very long time. Make sure 100%, that the person your married to is the one, before you jump into the whole eternity thing. Being madly in love has a way of distracting you from serious character flaws that your partner might have.

I feel that it comes down to respect, communication, and faith. It doesn’t hurt to date for an extensive amount of time before you marry because those things I listed need to be established. I don’t think anyone should sell themselves short or settle for a worldly marriage. It’s okay to work for what you deserve ❤️

"In the Kingdom people will neither marry nor being given to marriage" That scripture need not any interpretation. It's only when man starts adding his own beliefs of an eternal marriage that you start to see scriptures in another light and that's why you are still confused. Great video. Here are 2 things you didn't mention but maybe could have fit in. There are no rings involved in the temple ceremony. Members of the church who wear wedding rings do so because of their society or culture, and not because the temple ceremony requires it. You mentioned that one spouse breaking covenants doesn't undo the other spouses covenants. That would mean the spouse is eligible for an eternal marriage and will get one with someone else eligible for the same.

I'm guessing none of these three fellas understand the greek text of Matt 22:30, which makes it profoundly clear that "in the resurrection" means no one will remain married from before or married thereafter. "εν γαρ τη αναστασει ουτε γαμουσιν ουτε γαμιζονται" translated: for in the resurrection neither do they marry (active), nor are married (passive indicative), literally: being in a state of marriage. The explanation that "you have to get married while on earth" simply does not fit the grammar of the text.

4:00 Kwaku, why do you use a country hick voice to mimic someone who reads the Scripture in Matt. 22:30 as Jesus stating we will be like the angels and there is no marriage in heaven? If you are trying to sound like a Christian, you are very condescending. The three of you have an illogical explanation of the verse. If Jesus was just stating timing, then why didn't he state which husband the woman would be married to? The reason He didn't state which husband the woman would be married to is because she won't have a marriage to any of the husbands.

You have to be sealed to someone in the temple to receive a place in the celestial kingdom, right? So if you are married and are later divorced because it was a bad situation, is it impossible to be welcomed into the celestial kingdom?
@jasonsellers56
@jasonsellers56 5 лет назад
Short answer: *No, it's still possible to be welcomed into the Celestial Kingdom.* Little bit longer answer: Within the Celestial Kingdom are three degrees, which match what covenants we're willing to make and keep. If you were to only be baptized, and valiantly kept that covenant, but never made any other covenants (you never even accepted any that were done on your behalf after your death), you'd still go to the Celestial Kingdom, just the lowest part of it. But after the Resurrection and before the Judgement (i.e. during the Millennium), things like finding a spouse to be sealed to because one was divorced or never got married, those sorts of things will be sorted out during that time. Before the final end, everyone who is willing to make and keep sacred covenants with God and a spouse will have the opportunity to do so. God is perfectly fair and just, so He's not going to leave you hanging because of someone else's poor choices. Does that make sense?
@veidia
@veidia 5 лет назад
@Tired Siren i'm assuming three degrees as in telestial/terrestrial/celestial - there's no doctrine about 3 degrees in celestial.
@kennedyparry1117
@kennedyparry1117 5 лет назад
Jason Sellers thank you, that makes sense. I forgot that there are three degrees in the celestial kingdom
@jasonsellers56
@jasonsellers56 5 лет назад
@Tired Siren Yes, I meant that there are 3 degrees *inside* the Celestial Kingdom. Doctrine and Covenants 131 :1 mentions this. Sorry, but I don't have time to go very deeply into it now, but basically, in order to enter the highest degree *within* the Celestial Kingdom, known as Exaltation, one must make and keep the sealing covenant with a spouse for time and all eternity (whether the sealing covenant is made in mortality or during the Millennium and before the final judgement). Nephi taught that baptism is the gateway into the Kingdom of God (2 Nephi 31 :17-18), and we know that ordinances and covenants are not required for Telestial or Terrestrial glories, so it makes sense that it would be required for the lowest degree in the Celestial Kingdom. I've never heard what the minimal covenant to make and keep to attain the second level would be, but seeing as being endowed comes right between baptism and sealing, that'd be my guess. Also, every temple is built to represent the three Celestial degrees, and even in the small temples, the baptistry, endowment instruction rooms, and the celestial and sealing rooms are one three separate levels, starting lower and progressing higher. So it makes sense to me at least that if someone only ever makes and keeps the covenant of baptism, they'd go to the lowest Celestial degree, if they only make and keep the covenants made in baptism and the endowment, they'd go to the second Celestial degree, and if they make and keep those covenants *and* the sealing covenant, they'd receive Exaltation in the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom. Okay, like I said, I don't (didn't, lol!) have much time right now, but that's the basics of what I know off the top of my head. Hope that helps!

Christ's answer to the Sadducees in relation to marriage in the resurrection was directed specifically to the Sadducees. The Saducees did not believe in life after death or that we are intelligent spirits housed in a body. In other words the Sadducees did nit believe Jesus is the Messiah. Christ was explaining that there is no marriage for nonbelievers, they will be as angels in the sence that they have no physical abilityvafter the resurection to be in a marriage type union, because they will not be male or female in a physical way. A Celestial body is a body with an active sex drive. A Terestrial and Telestial body does not have physical gender

So sealing isn't really forever. Its just symbolic to get sealed. If someone transgresses the agreement or if that person later decides to not be sealed then they aren't anymore. Now Matthew 22:30 is interesting because there would have been no need to ask the question if there was a "sealing" between man and wife. The answer would have been easy. Jesus could just say, "you don't understand. The woman who the husband is sealed to is the one who he will be with at the resurrection." That isn't what he said. He says there will be no marriage in heaven and we will all be like the angels. Marriage being unnecessary at this point. Or he would have had to ask a question back to them... "How many of his wives was he sealed with for he will have all the wives that were sealed to him,"... as Joseph Smith is said to have had these polygamous and polyandrous relationships in order to "seal" them. He not only sealed these woman to himself but he stole their husbands wives from them eternally possible. This religion is the sin of Lucifer who was cast down from heaven because he wanted to be like the Most High and he wanted the glory that God had for himself. Exaltation is the sin of Lucifer and the Mormon church teaches it with a smile and wrapped up in a nice little package. Who wouldn't want to be a god. Lets run to that religion because there is nothing to see here.
