No, lol. You can't satisfy a woman, especially when you are not her first choice, look at all the celebrity marriages that end in divorce.... and most recently, Jada Pinket Smith.
I'm glad they ended the movie that way. As a kid, I wanted to see Elliot get the girl, but it's more important that he learned self respect and that you don't just get the "object" of your desire just because you want it. The clip of him and his new gf in the end was a nice touch. It humanized them.
Everytime I'm distress, or feeling a bit down on life, I look back and remember' what Brendan said in this film. This film helped see things another way 😊
This was honestly a very thoughtful film. It’s a little saccharine and the script could’ve used more polish, but for what it is it really did have a good lesson at its core and delivered it effectively. There’s the deleted rock star wish and I think they should’ve left it in. Yeah it was a giant tonal shift, but I think that’s what this film needed to hammer home Elliot’s realization that wishes aren’t the way to his happiness
Yeah I think the Rock Star wish should have been kept in, though edited a bit. Like if Allison had overdosed and he dialed for the devil before she died or maybe even she left him for a more "Stable" guy which would inspire his wish to be a president. I didn't like the big mac and coke copout wish lol.
And how evil she was to precisely get pregnant of the richtest man available at that time. But not from zhugh Grant and many others Who she slept with. She only got oregnant by the rich man.... Coincidence? Or deliberately?
Yeah that decision was already made when she went school teacher. Hey I'm a god of progress and education, makes sense. She's hot as a school teacher. She's a good motivator :P.
Never make wishes. You can do it yourself. The reason it never happens, is due to extreme human interference. The ones saying they want to help you. Are the ones responsible.
Wish to be better looking? Of all the things in this movie, that statement broke the suspension of disbelief. As a straight man, I can say without a doubt that he was absolutely gorgeous at that moment. Subjectively Liz was liable to set the stage on fire. How is she still so hot? 🔥
Late reply but the contract explicitly states that there is a time limit. Whether or not he makes another wish, she gets his soul. The only reason she put the rush on him was to get him to panick and make a bad or useless wish. She was probably expecting some kind of "I wish the contract was void" or something like that. Something that most people would do to try and save themselves at the last minute. When he voids the contract with his final wish, she isn't disappointed because she didn't get a soul. She is bummed that her routine didn't work, and he "beat the system." When she realized that he didn't do it on purpose, she was more than fine with it.
@@felixfeliciano7011 Agree, although in her own little way I think the Devil was pleased Elliot beat the system, considering that was Lucifer's whole schtick in the first place xD
You'd think with all the time she's been doing this she'd come across a few people who'd reject the last wish. She kind of jumped the gun on Elliot's decision there lol
Yeah, and every time she comes across those people, she tries to bully and scare them into making a last wish, just like with Elliot. Otherwise, she gets no soul
After this scene, she says that nobody ever reads the contract, implying Elliot is probably the first one who made a wish that benefits someone other than himself.
@@humps678 I dunno, I felt like it was more of an admonition, you know? What is the Devil infamous for? Cheating! Well, what did Elliot essentially do? He got two wishes and then cheated the Devil out of his soul. I always felt that "Nobody ever reads the contract" was her way of saying "I'm so glad they didn't realize it was this easy to cheat me out of my prize". But you know she also respects the shit out of him for 'winning' the unwinnable game. That's basically Lucifer's origin story, trying to win the unwinnable game xD
" I understand the deal. Seven Wishes in exchange for my soul. However the deal isn't complete until I complete all my wishes. Until then you don't get shit. So your gonna have to wait until I decide to make my wishes. "
I always thought there was the potential for a better line with her coming out in the angel costume: "Yeah, I kept the uniform from my first job." "Really?" "No, you fool, it's a Halloween costume - they took away my wings."
I just watched the movie now even before watching i was battling with my thought i have anxiety and i battle with imposter syndrome but some time i keep asking myself this questions like why cant things just be easy like i wish for things to go my way but the truth to life is things doesn't really play out the way you want it eventually if you want it you work for it this movie taught me that today
"What matters is how we get through life. Like forming contracts that give us goods but refusing to pay after we get the goods." One of the first realizations of mankind, and the object of dread for all civilizations which arose from the plague of not honoring contracts, now realized by Brandon as an expedient means of survival. I'll have to watch this movie to see what happens.
@@nathanielbugg7355 Very well said. Yes, she voided the contract by answering his wishes in a deviant manner. But then that provokes another question regarding the black man who represents God. The plot indicated that he was complicit in the woman's deviant behavior toward the man. Implying that he is contradicting his own program of benevolence. The very lesson his contract was supposed to teach him (altruism) is now called into question by a God who wishes people to die either literally or internally on his alter. So he is the male version of the devil. Pretending to be God.
She was always an angel. She just pretended to be the devil. It's the combined work of her wishes and the talk with the other angel when Eliot in the jail cell that helped him become a better person. If she was really the devil show would have just let him fall to his death after his first wish backfired.
I don't believe in networking. To me the term "networking" means being fake. In college, I wanted to teach and was taking classes towards that goal while the girl I was dating put me down every single day for pursuing a degree that would not bring in enough money. She had a terrible grade point average from partying the entire time she was in school while I had to work two jobs and send home money to help with my mom's prescription drug copays. She said her friends told her the only reason to go to WVU was to find a rich husband which she did after putting me through years of Hell. I will never date again, but that relationship taught me how truly terrible people can be, especially those who want to achieve things through marriage rather than through work and education.
How is this the same guy in that played Charlie in The Whale? It’s been a long road for him but what a turn around. The Whale is a master class of acting
Classic scenario if you use the last wish to free the person giving you the wishes or to wish your way out of the contract common sense Never say there's nothing you can say or do that will make me unless you quite sure you're willing to endure anything
Believe me no contract or wishes from the Devil is ever going to bring a single iota of happiness. I would rather work hard and I would rather suffer through it then skip everything to be successful. Besides my soul does not belong to the devil because I will not sell my soul because my soul is not at any price. Granted I do have things I have to answer for but I also want to answer for all the greatest things I've done in life mainly May being a dad in the future but also to be a husband to a beautiful wife and only one wife and honestly even if I cannot see the moment I would rather die a grandfather but if God wants me to live long enough to be a great-grandfather then I accept it because with God I can agree on a lot of things and one of them involves getting along because we all need each other.
