This is very interesting, only part I feel is risky is the burning of the anterior turbinates? I am all for shutting off nerve but she appeared to say they shrink the back side of the turbinate then the nerve? This would basically destroy the outside of the turbinate which could kill nerves and sensors that tell the brain your breathing? Isn't that part of what causes ENS? I would prefer just doing the nerve and front side and not touching turb at all.
I have a slightly deviated septum, and just the bottom tip of my nose is crooked. It's just the slightest smallest slant to the right but it looks terrible in pictures. Like if I push my nose to make it straight , I only have to move my nose like the slightest little millimeter to make it straight. I want to fix it but I'm worried about septoplasty and all that surgery stuff. My nose bone is straight, as my nose was straight most of my life.. I'm not sure exactly how my nose became crooked. I think my fiancé hit my nose in the middle of the night with her head which messed up my septum. Most of my life my nose was straight -_-
Hello, doctor. About 20-25 years ago I had 2 SOMNOplasty procedures done, where my doctor inserted "needle-like" instrument and heated up the turbinates, practically causing a localized "burn", to make turbinates eventually shrink and lead to improved breathing. He did that procedure twice ( the first time the "needles" weren't long enough), as it was almost in the experimental stage back then, where medical personnel was present in the room during the second procedure to learn more how it's done. Hence, my 2 questions to you: Is this Vivaer procedure similar to the action of Somnoplasty and are there any limitations to successful outcome in my case, if I had my two procedures done years ago? Am I a good candidate and do I still have enough tissues to "work with" to benefit from VivAer? In recent years I have developed again constant nasal blockages due to enlarged turbinates and do have a vasomotor rhinitis year-round. I wear "breathe easy" nose strips around the clock to marginally improve air flow and decongestant nasal sprays do help me, but I struggle to avoid them due to being addicted to them years ago, so I "qualify" in that sense according to your explanations. And I suppose these 2 procedures aren't associated with Empty Nose Syndrome?! Am I correct? Thank you for your anticipated reply.
