If you’re on a budget in 2022 and are expecting or have a newborn, I’m letting you in on baby items I regret buying or products I’ve never used. You don’t have to buy these newborn items just because they’re popular!
And I’m a mum of 5, so if I’ve gotten away with not using these newborn items, I’m certain you can too!

A change table is very important,it's not just a change table, mine has a bath and then it has storage compartments, those like me who have disabilities it's a god send,we don't have to bend over a bath and be in pain washing our babies.

I’m going to be a 1st time mom in August so I don’t have any experience yet but I agree with everything you mentioned including not have a crib. You are so practical! Love it.

If your on a budget and pregnant dont buy any clothes at all, people will give you them out of nowhere and probably more than you need but if not you can still add as you go. If you do buy clothing, go for neutral so you can easily pass it onto another baby of any gender be it your next or someone elses, and get one size up from what your baby wears so it fits longer. Personally i think you actually need almost nothing its more about what you personally prefer to have and what makes things easiest for you personally, thats why everyone has a different suggested list of needs.

Great list! We definitely loved our white noise machine but I agree on just about everything else. Expecting #2 soon so I was trying to do a refreshing on what we actually need and what we don’t

Yes my friend swears by her white noise machine, she also loves her baby nest too! Everyone’s different that’s what I love about it . Congratulations on bub #2!

I'm expecting my first soon (though I do have some baby experience from my little brother but that was a while ago) and I think I agree with most of the things mentioned. I did get a baby bath seat (not a tub), just to help hold the head above water and supposedly if someone puts a blanket on it, it can double as a supervised temporary lounger if I ever do feel the need to use one. For my little brother, a rocker was a huge asset for us because as he grew more motor skills, he actually preferred to control the bottle himself even as young as 4 months old and for some reason he'd have an easier time with that in the rocker , so eventually we learned to just put him in the rocker with the bottle and let him do his thing - supervised the entire time of course, and with the "rocking" motion turned off so effectively just a lounger. For shoes and cutesy clothes, absolutely agree and I wasn't planning on getting any, but that didn't stop my mother from buying us some lol. I haven't bought a baby gate but we do live in a 2-story home and we're mostly on the second floor, so I'll probably need one at least for the stairs.

Totally need a baby gate if ur in a two storey! I also popped a blanket under the bottle so baby could feed himself when he was just learning. Makes life so much easier. And I do love cute gifts! Baby showers r great cos u can ask for those ‘nice to have’ items too. I hope your pregnancy and birth goes well! 🤍

I didn't plan on using a changing table but one was gifted to us and we actually still use it for our 1 yr old. Some of these things we had and I liked, but I definitely could have lived without. Except the baby lounger/nest. We LOVED it. Bought a $40 one on Amazon and baby used it as long as it was safe (she couldn't roll her face into the sides). Thanks for this video! A good reminder while I'm preparing for baby #2.

One of my best friends said the same she LOVES her newborn nest! I haven’t tried it so can’t say but I do enjoy being minimal with bubs. Congratulations on bub #2!

I agree on a lot of these items. 4 babies here and they don’t really need much. I must say though that the white noise machine did help my last bub settle at night so I’ll be definitely using that for number 5.

I think our other kids acted as the ‘white noise’ 😆 prayers for your birth!

1. Diaper genie 2. Diaper bag (honestly a wet bag or packing cube thrown in your purse is sufficient. Don't give up your cute purses ladies!) 3. Receiving blankets 4. Wipe warmer 5. Rash creams (coconut oil is magic!) 6. Baby nail clippers (use a file way less scary lol) Just a few things I've come to learn i could of lived without lol

Great video! Could you make a video on how to shower a baby without a baby bathtub? I don't find a lot of ideas on RU-vid. Specially on how to hold the baby in the shower. I don't have space for a baby bathtub but I'm super scared if dropping the baby in the shower

Makes complete sense to feel a little scared! Interesting video idea thanks for your input

I know this is old but you can bathe a baby in any sink. Put the tiniest bit of water, maybe half an inch and fill a cup to rinse their hair and just lay them down on a towel in there. It's easier on your back then leaning over a tub as well.

Can I add my own “don’t bother buying” item? Those stupid nappy disposal systems! The cartridges are so expensive, and I found they didn’t really eliminate the odor anyway.

If you have one baby I'd skip it or get the smallest one possible that takes any trash bag because it will smell before it fills up. For multiple babies in diapers, definately more worth it but still the kinds that take any bag are much better.

Where do you put your baby when you have a shower ? Cause you said you don’t use a bouncer seat. That was the only reason I wanted to get a bouncer lol

I cuddle them the whole time and sometimes sit on the floor if I’m worried they’ll slip, it does mean I’m naked while wrapping them in a towel after but it was never enough for me to get a baby bath lol. There was no where to store it for me, + I hate seeing eye sores like that
