With every mistake there is a lesson. From proliferation to destruction, these floaters are suffering right now... Question, can LEDs BURN your floating plants, although they produce no heat?
I know this is an old video, but that frogbit isn't burned; the leaves got wet. that will happen with tiny drop from an airstone, or being agitated by a HOB filter. LEDs do not burn frogbit or water lettuce. Also, if the plants are too thick (not constantly culled and separated from "daughter" plants, the plants will start overlapping tot he degree of "dunking," also causing the wet-leaf syndrome (this happened in her breeder box x10...). Floaters need to be tended to just like below surface plants that need shaping and pruning. (and if you want to wrangle your floaters away into one area, get two suction cups and a piece of monofilament line you can hang right below the surface; it will snag the roots and not be visible)

A side effect of no surface movement, they burn less from the lights radiation when it moves around the tank. More flow through the box would have stopped that from happening as well
light intensity can affect them, lowering water level a bit or raising lights may help. also frogbit can be sensitive to too much liquid fert (flourish).
Hey Jean. The frog bit burns may have to do with light intensity/time under said light. That same thing happens to the frog bit in my 20 long but not to the ones in my fluval spec. Only thing I can figure is that since the pieces in my 20 don't move from under the light they burn from too much light. Kind of a sun/shade scenario.

How you doing Jean Well the rotting plants are definitely not good for your water quality as far as I know rotting or decaying plant matter will produce ammonia as far as the burned plants it might be the radiation being produced by the led any one feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
i did a huge water change after removing all of the dead plant matter; hopefully that will help. yeah i'm still perplexed about the brown on the frogbit...
I don't let extra plants in the tank I put then in what looks like pickle jar but there plastic and the water I take out the tank I put in those plants. You have to many floating plants. Are those plant in the breader box slimy if they are take them out the tank. No good for the tank. I don't know why the plants are turning brown. That has never happen to me.
Yes you are right, I have too many floaters, but now those floaters are generating some "passive income" for me, in the form of credit at my lfs. so i let them grow and then then trade them out. i got a little too busy to keep up, and thought if i kept them in a container i'd be okay. i was very wrong! i have to find a better way... and a pickle jar, apparently.
