This video is an in-depth look at the current state of the road, sewer, water and electrical infrastructure supporting Ulaanbaatar and what provisions are being made towards its development.
Ulaanbaatar is suffering from unprecedented levels of immigration coupled with considerable increases in disposable income of its population, leading to higher strain on the current infrastructure as everyone buys cars and new electrical equipment, placing ever increasing demands on the little infrastructure that still functions within Ulaanbaatar.
Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Mongolian state has lacked the financial capacity as well as the political will and know-how to improve the infrastructure situation is leading Ulaanbaatar to a crisis point with no real solution in sight.

You just commented that Yuan dynasty belongs to China. Let me ask you question. Who was the founder of that dynasty? Whats his origin?

I believe Mongolia is on the right track. Yes we do need to cooperate but under our terms not by other "powers." The momdern history of Mongolia is just starting, meaning we became democratic indeoendent country only in 1990. Which is to say we are onlly 23 years old. We are learning and discovering and we will develop into healtier and better country donw the road.

They could much more easily just expand the old airport, lengthen the old runway and/or build another one to cope with the air traffic problem. They should be building a tram system to solve the traffic problem cheaply and efficiently

the problem is that the city is not prepared for the rising population, there arent enough sewages and other necessary needs. And the increase in population is so sudden that the city cant keep up with it. Whereas other cites like Tokyo and New York expanded first then population came following with it.

typical growing pains of a large city in a country that is experiencing an economic and demographic boom. The point is it can't nor shouldn't be stopped, but dealing with it properly is the key. For example, blowing a huge wad of money building a new airport 60kms outside the city when the current one is already outside the city far enough. This is just bread and circuses for the rich. Most Mongolians don't need a new airport or can't afford to fly, especially those in the ger districts.

I understand that a few years ago there was a blanket guarantee on all CDs and other types of deposits in banks. Is that still true? If yes, to what amount? Funny but no such info on bank websites. Would love to go there for at least a year maybe more. My chance to go to experience a 'gold rush' town. :-)

worldwide trade is a good thing but it has to be done in a honest way. in fact it is very good. it is profit for the both sides. china always traded worldwide since the western discoverd china.

yeah, i think mongolia should cooperate with china and other powerful countries. But the danger is that those countries will probably think about their self interest most of the time. I think Mongolia is cautious of exploitation. Other than that yeah, it would be nice if giving and receiving were at equilibrium

yes, I'm from China, lives in America. If I think what your intention to ask my nationality is, then your self just proven my point. The fact of matter is, today China have hug amount reveres that yield little return, China need to divest its investments. And as video shown, perhaps Mongolia need more investment.

be honest, Mongolia could be more friendly to China and China invest its infrastructure. China does have resources, technologies, and willingness to do so. But Mongolia alien itself with Russia, distrust China. Perhaps because its complex history relationship. Look at inner Mongolia, in fact there is less resource but 3 times more PPP. Hope people realize the real barriers from progress is cooperation.

Don't worry. The World Bank will lend Mongolia millions of dollars at a very high interest rate to pay their friends to turn UB into the latest megacity. Good luck to the Mongolians when they have to pay the money back though.

I don't like the idea of the World Bank being involved. Obviously there's some shady objective when the World Bank props up a country with loans. International banking mafia madness.

Even today, Mongolia can't feed itself. Mongolian is always worry about China 'invade'... Instead of making railroad different size than China to 'defend' Mongolia and 'create job'. How about improve its infrastructure, education, capital, and regulation. First, improve agriculture then you won't have half country lives in ONE city. Second make your own power house and sell electricity instead coal. Then you can talk about environment and regulation.

You are mistake my words! I said INVESTMENT, not HELP! I'm honest, won't mistake China would help Mongolia without its interest. But China it's like every countries in progress. You can't have progress without destroy environment. At the end of the day, it's trade, nothing will created and nothing dispread. You don't want China in, others nations will. One way or the other, wealth gap will increase and environment will sacrificed for industrialize.

the world is a mess. i live in belgium i saw 2 weeks ago a documantery about chinese students who commit suicide even they live in big city they just cant afford food, clohes & theyr studies. then their familys can help them too. so with that industries u help the multinationals. THATS THE BIG PROBLEM OF CAPITALISM THINKING BY PEOPLE LIKE YOU. YOU PEOPLE JUST DONT UNDERSTAND. LOOK AT EU, IT IS LITERALLY COLLAPSING!! EVEN AMERICA WONT BE THE US ANYMORE OVER 5 YEARS!!

nothing but desert? haha, dude im born & raised in mongolia Ulaanbaatar ciy. as i know the city was between mountains with trees & rivers. that desert part you talk about is Gobi desert, then ofc there is nothing than desert, just like the Sahara. history is re-written by the people of New World Order. you are wrong with 50 years with US. US is bankrupt dude...its the first time in history they have so much homeless people & sick people & suicides. Greek is also gone..
