There are little nuances with indie publishing that I never thought of so this was so helpful! I really enjoy these shorter form - getting right to the information videos. Thanks for sharing!
Glad this was so helpful for you! Yes, I try to stay short and sweet with these videos, let me know if you have any other questions you would like to see me answer on the channel 🙂
When do you use groundwood? Black & White White B&W: printed on 50lb White paper Creme B&W: printed on 50lb Creme paper Groundwood B&W: printed on 38lb Eggshell paper (mass market-like) I have these options in Ingramspark for paperback 210 mm x 140 mm
I found this helpful. I was just trying to pick my color. But I didn’t know what would be the difference so I kept comparing novels on my bookshelf and thought some of them had white paper and some had cream. 🤯 Now I’m thinking they all must’ve been cream. Thanks for the info.
Thank you for the video. KDP doesn't offer expanded distribution on certain sizes with cream paper. I have found that the white paper on KDP for novels (at least my own biography) isn't pure white and still easy to read. I'm still unsure with what to go with before I make the book go live.
Thank you for sharing. I don't do expanded distribution with KDP anymore so I hadn't realized that limitation. You could always set the book for one style of paper, order an author copy and then set it for the other and order another copy so that you can compare.
For a novel that is all text I usually go with the oreselected lowest paper weight. For full color books I like the premium or premium color paper, but it will add to the cost and cut onto your royalties
I want to self publish a book of coins. About 300 pages with lots of color photos. What paper would you suggest? Also, I will be self fulfilling; so all copies will be shipped to me for me to send out. Which publishing company would you suggest I look at? Thanks
If you are looking for illustrators there are a lot of great resources, here are a few: facebook.com/groups/3240620214 , 1000storybooks.com/ or even formattedbooks.com/?ref=31 Best of luck!
Very good video, thanks. I am Brazilian but I am about to publish a book of spirituality in Ireland, and I am choosing the type of paper to do it. Would it be better to use bookwove or silk?
