Polyrhythms are easier for me than melody! But i also have an issue with my right hand where my middle finger had no tendon. Surgery made it so that i can move it but only when using my index and ring finger to "drive" it so to speak. So im the exact opposite of this video but you're correct in that polyrhythms take a long time to master, would love to see some 5:4 jamming in that key!

ugh 3:4 rhythm always fucked me up in band id always get out of place in practice and get called out so often it was so embarassing, adhd doesnt help when your trying to focus on only two things being those two paces XD
@pashasoofi30
@pashasoofi30 11 месяцев назад
I feel you! the trick is to not think about it as two things happening at the same time but as just one wierd rhythm. the simplest way to do that is to put some words to the 3:4 rhythm. the phrase "pass the goddamn butter" is what I use. the rhythm of the phrase is exactly that of the 3:4 polyrhythm so instead of trying to think of two beats at the same time you can just memorise the phrase and play the rhythm from memory. hope that helps! btw sorry if my explaination is difficult to understand. english is not my first language😅.

I would assume the second one is harder because you don’t have a rhythmic beat in your ear, so you have to keep the tempo up yourself, thus making things more difficult
@biohazard0482
@biohazard0482 11 месяцев назад
Nope, he’s keeping track of 2 separate rhythms in his head (hence why he isn’t playing one aloud) one hand is playing in a 4:4 timing while the other is playing in a 3:3 timing. This is insanely hard and pretty much cannot be done reliably without a lot of practice.
