Today, I want to share a few interesting natural alternatives for styes.
A stye is a little pimple or pustule on the eyelid, usually involving a sebaceous gland. The sebaceous glands are oil glands. If one of these glands becomes clogged, it can lead to a staph infection and inflammation. It typically causes a lot of redness and irritation.
In many cases, within seven days, the stye will go away. But, some people deal with recurring styes. People with diabetes have a much higher incidence of styes and staph infections.
Sometimes retinoids, a type of vitamin A, are used as a treatment for styes. There is an interesting relationship between vitamin A and styes.
One thing that can occur with a vitamin A deficiency is hyperkeratosis. Hyperkeratosis causes a roughened extra layer of skin tissue in the ducts of the sebaceous glands. This means that a vitamin A deficiency can cause the sebaceous glands to be clogged, leading to inflammation.
A certain study on humans showed a significant vitamin A deficiency in those who had styes vs. those who did not.
Vitamin A is also important for the immune system. A deficiency in vitamin A can increase the risk of infection. Diabetes and insulin resistance can also impair the immune system.
Vitamin D is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatories, and vitamin D deficiency is associated with many different eye problems. Vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of both infections and styes.
Zinc is important for building up the immune system and reducing the recurrence of styes.
Top causes of vitamin A deficiency:
• A lack of the active form of vitamin A in the diet (retinol)
• Gut inflammation
• Liver issues
• Gallbladder issues
• Lack of bile
• Zinc deficiency
• Alcohol
• Antibiotics
Foods rich in vitamin A include:
• Beef liver
• Egg yolks
• Fish
• Cod liver oil
The best natural ways to help get rid of a stye and keep it from coming back:
1. Get on the Healthy Keto® diet
2. Take vitamin A and vitamin D (cod liver oil)
3. Take zinc (200 mg for one week, then back to normal amounts)
4. Rub a clove of garlic on the stye a few times a day without getting the garlic in your eye
5. Make green tea, then place the cooled green tea bag on your eyelid over the stye

I had one for about two months and someone suggested Apple Cider Vinegar. I put ACV on a cotton swab and dabbed the stye. I did this about 2xs a day. Within 2 days it finally drained and went away. Then during a stressful time it started to come back, I dabbed with ACV and by the next day it was gone.

Yes! I never had a stye before in my life, then had 2 during mask requirements. Having your own breath vapor routed up to your eyes, especially if you wear glasses, for hours, is a no-brainer. When I made this comment to my doctor, she admitted that she’d been seeing more people with them due to the forced masking.

I used to get chalazions.... same but different 😄and used the tea bag, along with the warm compress. I learned to recognize the way it feels when you're almost about to get one, which is very subtle, but you can learn to detect it. Then, you apply the tea bag and compress straightaway, and it usually stops it from fully developing.

Thank you!!! I can concur with his results. I did a 5 day fast diet through Prolon for an overall cellular cleanse. One of the most astonishing results was at that time I had a skin staph infection that I was loosely dealing with. By day 3 of my fast, I realized the staph boil was gone. It was there for weeks and then without my doing anything intentionally, it just was gone. I then suspected it was due to the fast. So, I looked it up and there is data showing that fasting/starving the body of sugar can clear a staph infection. Sugar is the devil! It causes so much disease. We were not meant to ingest it in large, frequent quantities. It causes, diabetes, obesity, joint paint, stomach pain/intestinal inflammation, digestive issues, brain fog, and potentially even cancer-for sure the cancer cells love it and continue to grow from it. It’s sugar. Carbs turn into sugar. I try to eat things that come from the earth that have not been processed now. Pasta, bread, baked goods, cereal, and sweets. Very hard to do. I happen to love cooking so at least I have that in my favor. But if you don’t cook, and don’t like it or have time, it becomes even harder. But people- sugar is killing us faster than we should be dying and making life more painful and limited in the process and doctor bills high. Vicious cycle and a hard one to quit. Good luck but just wanted to concur that this has worked for me regarding staph/styes.

A few months ago I was getting styes constantly. I never realized it was connected to the eye lash serum I was using. The last stye I had was so bad that I went to the eye doctor- I refused all the medical treatment; steroids, injection, lancing… I went home and started doing warm compresses and taking 3 hot showers a day and massaging the eye… after about 10 days it started draining. As an optometrist I treat these everyday. I've never done a steroid shot or lanced one and only seek natural methods. The information in this video is good for prevention but there are also a couple other things you can do once you do get one. I'll name some of the more effective methods. One is to clean the lid margin with a gentle soap. There are lid scrubs prepared for this such as Blephadex or Ocusoft. Or in a pinch you can dilute J&J baby shampoo. Think of it like brushing your teeth. You are keeping the bacteria population down. There are a few other glands such as meibomian glands where styes can form. Sometimes its a keratinization of the orifice on the lid margin. Sometimes I need to take a rotating brush, which is kind of like a dremel tool, and buff it along the lid margins which practically sands off the keratinization. Once this is out of the way then the orifice is more open and the gland almost spews the junk out. Warm compresses with a proper compress that will hold heat for 10-15 minutes are a huge bonus as well. Best to do those 3-4 times a day until gone. Tea bags make great warm compresses, and in almost all cases the heat is the more aggressor rather than what type of tea it is.

You'll want to add hot compresses to this list. Until the gland is unblocked, the waste inside cannot drain no matter what other things you're doing. Wet or dry both can work, but important thing is you have to "melt" the fat until it's soft enough to be pushed out. Use clean hands around your eyes and mouth - always.

I used to have those chalazions, and thing with them is that they don't pass after a week. they can stay in your eyelid for 2 years. I would have 2 or 3 at the time sometimes. I don't even know how I figured it out, but I got rid of them by doing the following: 1) to remove preexisting chalazions, dip your fingertip into coconut oil and smear it onto the lid where the chalazion is - do this before going to bed, cause there's no way to avoid coconut oil seeping into your eye, no matter how little you use, and it will itch like mad, it will itch in the morning too, but within 2-4 days of doing this, chalazion will melt away. so, it's 2 years of discomfort, vs 4 days 2) to keep your eyelids clean, as well as to get rid of as much of a coconut oil in the morning as possible, use micellar water - buy the cheapest simplest one you can find, you don't need it to smell like candy corn or whatever my issue was that after I would wash my face, I'd get skin flakes, and after some days, these skin flakes would pile on the eyelashes, and they wouldn't get of, no matter what. I would then go mad and try to scrape the skin out of my eyelashes, cause I could see them, like, not in the mirror, I could see them like this. so I would take a qtip and water or something and rub the eyelid, and this would clog up those little canals, and within day or two I'd have chalazions. I now don't have issues with flaking skin, cause I no longer wash my face, I clean it with micellar water, and all in all, no more chalazions. anyway, you want to get rid of them asap, cause if they stay there for too long, they can deform your eyeball and cause astigmatism (which I now have) the doctors will offer to invert the eyelid and cut it open and remove the chalazion- I couldn't deal with that, and it would just come back in day or two. coconut oil is unpleasant, but is significantly more pleasant than having a cut on your eyelid, scratching your eye, and if you start to cry, the salt from tears scratching even harder so you can't stop crying, it's the worst medieval thing to do. just try coconut oil for 1 day, and if it doesn't work, you don't have to try any more in my experience, you can feel the most difference the first day after applying it. so you can tell right away if it works. the effect slows down after that initial mellowing, and it takes about 4 days for it to clear up entirely

Thank you so very much for this video. I’ve been having this problem for the past few months. Funny, I’ve been craving carrots and realize I’m most likely deficient in vitamin A. You are a blessing to me.

Carrots do not have retinol/vitaminA, only betacarotene, which is poorly converted to vitamin A, & often not at all. Eggs cooked with runny yolks will help you more, also butter.

I had a lot in my teens and even 20's. The issue was rubbing my eyes with unwashed hands and staying up late getting dry eyes. Dry eyes is also a gateway to virus infections. Perhaps hormones were responsible for clogging the follicles. Only remedy was waiting until they popped. Haven't had any more in decades.

Once you get a stye. Remember what you ate. I found out jt was fried foods for me. Every time I would eat fried fish from the bag. I would get a stye. I think it’s the type of oil they fried it in. If you can catch it early. You can drink dark teas. (No sugar). Drink a whole lot. You basically want to clean your system. I was able to stop it or it went away much faster. You will want to advoid any fried food or sugar for that matter. Also get one if this ice/hot eye cover. Get the one guy can heat in the microwave. Trust me. It will mostly get worst before it gets better. Also wipe your eyes with witch hazel. From side to side. You can use a qtip. You want to wipe the whole eyes and surrounding area. The qtip can be used on the eye lips. You want to go basic and forth ti try to unclog the pores. Anyway, it can get bad, ugly and hurt. So don’t be discouraged. I would even say get a eye patch. Because they can last for months if you don’t take care. Also the doctors are useless. Unless you absolute pain or need it drained

Dr Berg in India we say that heat in the body causes red eye or stye....and the pH in the body is too acidic ...and the stye goes away if u take care not to eat (heat food)like chicken pepper papaya beef sesame seeds etc...the opposite cooling food is radish curds cucumber greens etc....they say that food should have a balance and too much of anything can cause problem....we do rub garlic on the stye...and this does help the stye go away...

Wow Dr Berg you always explain things so well. I have two dogs who have a sty on their eyelids. I’m thinking about putting a teabag on them to see if they go away. An English bulldog and a French bulldog. I don’t know if dogs can have a vitamin A & D supplement but will try to research it. I also heard you mentioned a cyst briefly on this video but didn’t say anything about a cyst. I have tried to research what a cyst actually is and what an inclusion cyst is. Also if there are any supplements and foods to eat to get rid of them. Several years ago I had a test done with a scope to look inside my bladder and the doctor saw a small cyst (I saw it also on the monitor screen) but she said don’t worry about a cyst and that she didn’t know much about a cyst or what can make it go away. Another type of cyst is called an inclusion cyst that my GYN doctor found while doing a pelvic exam and this doctor also said don’t worry about them and that she didn’t know anything about them other than it is harmless. It is frustrating when doctors will dismiss it because they don’t have any knowledge about it. Is this a topic that you can address? Do you have any knowledge about why a body can develop a cyst and an inclusion cyst? Or how people can treat it through supplements and diet? I would love to hear you talk about this someday.
