Actually his super fast healing was reduced at some point, also I know I've read comics where when his head is destroyed or he explodes himself, he IS pretty much dead for a while. He uses this to visit lady death, but his body is regenerating while he does so and he gets thrown back into his body

But if the body regrows the head, is he deadpool anymore? I mean the brain creates memories right? So if he got decapitated and the body grew a new one, he's no longer deadpool and he won't gonna know who he is neither talk because you gotta learn language or even know what''s happening. So in conclusion, you can't him by decapitation but if his body grew a new head, you basically kind of neutralized him because his memory won't cary to a new head

@NeutralGuyDoubleZero
@NeutralGuyDoubleZero 7 лет назад
+Zach Doherty-Smith I dont doubt that, but that doesnt make sense to me. He can survive being burnt to a skeleton with none of his organs supporting his brain, yet if his spinal cord is cut from his body he is unable to regenerate. I get why he can die from asphyxiation since thats pure oxygen depravation that affects only his blood and brain, thus preventing regeneration auto fixing it, but getting decapitated is pretty similar of an injury in terms of scope to being burnt down to his very bones.

I've always thought that if an immortal or someone with high healing capabilities were to be decapitated the head would go flying off and regenerate a new body, and the body would grow a new head. Since the body had to grow a new head it made more sense to me that it would not have any of said person's memories. I also believed that if the new head did keep any memories, somehow, than that would be a gruesome way to clone yourself. Also, also watch Ajin: Demi Human it also supplies some good information on this context and a really good show and in Naruto Shippuden there's a guy who is immortal and the only way he can die is if his head is severed/separated from his body and he isn't feed then he would die of starvation. I've actually had this question for a few years now happy you addressed it.

There's an anime called "Ajin", a new human looking race where when they die, they regenerate and live again. And when they lose a port of their body, only the part with the biggest mass regenerates and the other seperated part decayes, meaning if an ajin gets decapitated the body regenerates a new head, but with a completely new brain and the seperated head dies! It's an interesting anime -Also there is a type of matter which surrounds them and can use them. This matter transforms into nutrients, cells and bodyparts. They also only regenerates when they die.

Denis Garley Yep, that's a big part of the show. Since you can't permanently kill an Ajin, people found a way to torture them. To literally cut off their head and let them watch as a new head (with all his memories and experiences) grows back and takes his place. It's a really creepy thought...

Kyle, Morphallaxis is the regeneration of specific tissue in a variety of organisms due to loss or death of the existing tissue. The word comes from the Greek allazein, which means to exchange. The classical example of morphallaxis is that of the Cnidarian hydra, where when the animal is severed in two (by actively cutting it with, for example, a surgical knife) the remaining severed sections form two fully functional and independent hydra. The notable feature of morphallaxis is that a large majority of regenerated tissue comes from already-present tissue in the organism. That is, the one severed section of the hydra forms into a smaller version of the original hydra, approximately the same size as the severed section. Hence, there is an "exchange" of tissue. Researchers Wilson and Child showed circa 1930 that if the hydra was pulped and the disassociated cells passed through a sieve, those cells then put into an aqueous solution would shortly reform into the original organism with all differentiated tissue correctly arranged. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morphallaxis

@limiv5272
@limiv5272 6 лет назад
Because biology!
@maxmustermann1455
@maxmustermann1455 6 лет назад
cuz bananas don't bleed to death...... seriously (assuming the question was somewhat serious): cuts from a plant can absorb new resources. When you put it into a glass of water, the pressure inside the plant still continues to pump new water and stuff into it. It doesn't need roots to absorb resources. Also, this functions without any instructions. Plants don't have a nervous system. Most of the stuff a plant does, happens automatically. Capillar pressure, osmosis..... Photosynthesis not so much, but it happens on a cellular level. Plants do not have organs.... But even with plants, it does matter which parts you take. If you take any plant and cut off all roots and leaves, it'll die. If you decapitate Deadpool, the body does not have a brain telling its hard to pump, its lungs to breathe etc... The head doesn't have a digestive system providing new resources, no heart pumping those resources into the brain, no lungs enriching the blood with oxygen.... Healing factor alone doesn't cut it once vital organs are lost.

@Bleats_Sinodai
@Bleats_Sinodai 8 лет назад
But Kyle, if Thor's Hammer just gets heavier as an unworthy person tries to wield it, how come the hammer didn't bring the SHIELD plane down (even if a little) when The Hulk tried to lift it in the movie? Wouldn't it's weight have affected the plane if it got heavi enough for The Hulk to not be able to lift it? And why did the ground only break around his feet, and not around the hammer itself (considering both exerted the same amount of force downwards at that moment)? Also, if it worked with a gravitational field, wouldn't it just attract anything that got near it (perhaps even the person trying to lift it)? I mean, you can't just create a focused area of gravity on the part of the hammer facing down...
@kevindavis5966
@kevindavis5966 8 лет назад
That's why their theory is wrong. It's magic, period. No physical explanation works.
@m8eee
@m8eee 8 лет назад
best guess from a non nerd. it changes its gravity to just past the point of lifting so hulk pulls up he is holding all the weight and the portion on the ground is then very little. also the gravity changing properties could change the gravity how it chooses, aka the point facing down and not the entire thing. that could explain the last 2 questions. lastly kevin, magic and since have always walked hand in hand throughout history. in our realm, magic is just unexplained physics until we advance put knowledge
@Bleats_Sinodai
@Bleats_Sinodai 8 лет назад
+Devin Laviolette the main problem with magic is exactly that we can't explain it. it can't be gravity because it works as a field, and affects anything around it. how could it hold Loki down to the ground but not attract him to itself? how can it attach itself to the plane floor but Hulk can't just pull with enough force to break the ground around it and lift it?
@kevindavis5966
@kevindavis5966 8 лет назад
Devin Laviolette In the DC universe, Superman is vulnerable to magic, AKA it is a force without known or reproducible physical properties. In the comic universe, magic is not unexplained physics, but actual mystical manipulation of time/space/matter. That said, do I agree with your definition of magic in our universe? Absolutely, but it in no way applies to the fictional universe of comics.

Tho that is assuming the cells are dividing non normally and making 2 cells while consuming one, under normal conditions the cell would only make 1 copy of itself, and that copy could either replace the consumed cell, or replace the destroyed cell, either way you now end up with 3 cells when you started with 4 cells as one cell is destroyed, and another is consumed to attempt to regenerate the destroyed cell

Well as far as Wolverine is concerned, he has to reattach the missing body part. In Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk, the Hulk tore Wolverine in half. As Wolverine pulled himself along he commented to himself that his legs aren't going to grow themselves back. Later Wolverine is decapitated by S.H.I.E.L.D. and he's still alive and able to talk. Despite his lungs being in another room, he is still able to breathe through his skin. Even in a room deprived of oxygen, he still didn't die. His brain just went into stasis. In order to permanently kill Wolverine you have to destroy his brain.

I have seen both DOFP and the origins movies, yes in the movies it's hinted that he could survive. I'm refering to a comis i read a while ago. Funny fact as to how you can apply the same science to Captain Jack in Doctor Who, you could have very well combined two fandomes or more. I would expect that in the end, since Wolvern is able to live since before the Samurai and able to live through a Nuke blast and heal almost instantly from the burn and destruction. And unlike the Flash who also can regenerate pretty fast. I suspect in the end it comes down to the mutation, something to do with the cells and the body it's self that is different then the science connected to it. Consider it like a Super Cell for so long as one remains it heals, in the case of the Flash, he would have to slow down or time travel to heal damage he has had done to himself. Slow down so he can speed up his physical restoration but in doing so he would also have to mostly eat a tonne of food. Or he might fall into a Coma, in the case of Wolvern it just happens, in the Case of Wade Wilson, it is a matter of how his body responded to Wolvern's cells or energy or whatever, and turned his cancer into the effects that Wolvern has to a degree. Now consider for a moment that he has to have his Cancer cells throughout his body to regenerate. That is Wade Wilson, the fact remains so long as any part of his Cancer exists in theory Cancer well it needs resources can in fact duplicate almost viral in nature. Another effect or something to consider is, because of a mother having children. They leave DNA in their mothers, so the fact is Mutants, their mothers long after they are born would likely have some minor effect depending on the Mutation of the Child. Depending on a load of other stuff that would be very interesting to consider and look at. Women who have given birth to son's or even daughters are often found to have their Child's DNA within them. In their brain, breasts and loads of other locations. In some cases this effect is said to make women stronger, in other cases it is said to be the suggested cause of some forms of cancer. To find information this, and it might even make a good question to pose to marvel as to why women who have children, don't or have not some how displayed some form of Mutant behavior from the DNA after the child has activated their powers.

The real answer here has to move beyond conventional science and take into account metaphysics. The part that survives is the part with a "soul." There is one Deadpool soul, that is the thing that comes back, and the body it attaches to is the vehicle it rides. I mean the human soul is an established fact in the Marvel universe, numerous characters have been to an afterlife and back, including Deadpool numerous times. It would be no more scientific to ignore the existence of souls within the Marvel universe than it would be to ignore the existence of particle physics in the real world. So that,'s the answer, whichever part ends up with the soul, no matter how small, will eventually regenerate and live again, the other bits stay dead (outside of evil Deadpool, who's an anomaly). And as for "if the head came off, it would die before it can regenerate," that assumes that it requires basic biology to stay alive. Deprive a brain cell of oxygen, for example, and it would die, but deprive Deadpool's brain cells of oxygen, and they just keep on chugging. They get the job done. I would take a while for a body to regenerate solely from a head (although reattaching it would speed things up), but it wouldn't need lungs to breathe, a heart to pump, a stomach to digest, it would just be able to convert raw materials into new body parts directly.
@ikmnification5737
@ikmnification5737 8 лет назад
I was going to write the same thing, but your comment was longer and explained more. After being completely destroyed/exploded, I could imagine a Deadpool spirit asking, "Now should I regenerate from the toe, that piece of eyeball or that pixelated mess that use to be my dick?"
@TheFallingFlamingo
@TheFallingFlamingo 8 лет назад
You could apply metaphysics, or you could apply our understanding of the brain. We know memories to be constructed of a nearly infinite amount of neurons in our brain, that operate based on previous interactions with other neurons. So let's say Deadpool was cut in half, and his healing factor kicks in creating two Deadpools (assuming his healing factor is not a result of a signal from the brain, but ingrained as some sort of cellular command in his DNA) we would have Deadpool #1 with his original brain that has all of the neurons and their connections that give him his quirky personality and insanity... And then we would have Deadpool #2, with the intellect of a newborn child, essentially brain dead as his newly regenerated brain is a clean slate. He wouldn't have the knowledge or muscle memory to move his adult body and would probably end up in a permanent vegetative state or something. Pretty cool stuff.

@Elsif_
@Elsif_ 8 лет назад
Soul? Fine. But the rest? Well it is easy to just {talk bulls**t} say oh well his brain cells do not require anything and he will just regrow from raw materials. What you here are talking about is magic. Yes he is a mutant and not magical, so his powers are based in biology (mostly human biology as that is on what he is based of) and stuff. But lets try to for example try to come up with something that makes sense. Lets assume that in response to critical damage most of his body cells would just go into hibernation, and just some cells would try to regenerate and check for status. And even then considering the basic cells are human he could not hibernate endlessly. We still have resource problem, even if his stem cells (or what ) could readapt to function as one cell organisms for the time being (which would result in his regening parts being partly a mass blob of cells (hmm what would happen if you separated some, would they just lose coordination signal?) like algae) where would they get resources? His head does not have much. Those regen cells could try to devour the non critical parts (tongue,jaw), but that would be totally off from the speculation of how his powers work. So unless his head is left in a big pile of flesh.. Air? Asphalt? Dirt? Lol... A lot of ifs and even then we have problems and we make new assumptions on how his powers work. P.s. Don't read superhero comics (actually I think they are inconsistent clusterf**k), still consider all this interesting and because science!sorry tried to keep short, that tends to be a problem for me.
@timogul
@timogul 8 лет назад
Lol, IKMN. And yeah Flamingo, it is possible for both parts of his body to fully regenerate, but if that's how it works then there would basically be hundreds of Deadpools wandering around, because he gets dismembered A LOT, and if each piece then became a full Deadpool then we'd be swimming in them. There has to be something to decide which piece regenerates, because so far the only time where there have been two functional Deadpools at once was the evil "Frankenstien" Deadpool, and he didn't even regrow from one piece, he was a collection of numerous pieces grafted together and somehow brought to life. The nature of his motivating force is as yet unexplained. It's possible that what happened is that at one point, Deadpool was decapitated, but for whatever reason his "soul" decided to stay with the body. The body regrew a head and moved on, leading a dead head lying around. This head would never rebuild an entire body on its own (or it would have done so), but since it was lumped together with all the various "deadbits," it was able to sew together a semi-functional body, and also contained the stored brain memory that you discuss, but not the actual soul behind it, so it's basically a bit like a xerox copy of Deadpool with lower fidelity. Btw, the "each piece becomes a whole" angle was applied once to Lobo, where each drop of his blood shed grew into a fully formed Lobo. It was a weird storyline.

Well... In one movie we find out that a while after a fight he has been decapitated but both of his halfs r still alive and he uses his hand to get his head so he would probably put whatever is off of him back to were it was and let his regeneration properties reconnect them... Also since we know deadpools regenerative powers r similar to Wolverine's we can assume that he can come back from anything, cause in one comic it shows that Wolverine can regenerate from a drop of blood and deadpools regenerative powers r keeping him from sercoming to his "super cancer"... So basically this answers 2 things 1: not everything can be expanded by modern day science (or science in general) 2: he probably can come back from a decapitation/ major dismemberment...

I have a really hard question to answer about his regeneration. If he regenerates from the biggest part left I don't really see how that makes sense. How does the parts of Deadpool know which part to regenerate from especially if his brain is destroyed and he can only regenerate from a body part, and how do his parts know which is the biggest part to regenerate from. My thinking is that if his body parts can recreate his brain, then any part of Deadpool would regenerate a new being ultimately creating infinite Deadpools.

You explained before how a magnetic field might contain a coiled ring of plasma to make a lightsaber work without plasma going everywhere but would it also completely contain the heat from the plasma like that? Could you hold a lightsaber handle with your fingers only inches away from where the plasma is coming out without being burned? Could you even turn it on within a foot or two of something flammable without it igniting? Gas stations in that galaxy must get nervous when they see jedi filling up their tanks.
@Nerdist
@Nerdist 8 лет назад
You're right, without something exotic I'm not thinking off, plasma at that temperature would set a room on fire. -- KH
@Faithless0415
@Faithless0415 8 лет назад
I've always favored my own BS explanation for this. (Everyone likes their own brand.) I never went with magnetic containment for lightsaber plasma because heat. What we do know, though, is that the Star Wars universe has any number of variations on force fields, and that they can be fine-tuned. Ray shields probably let air through so you don't suffocate while you stand there trapped like a dumbass. Hangar bays have shields that keep air IN but let ships and whatnot go through. SO.... My version of a lightsaber generates the plasma, but contains it using a force field that sorts by energy level. This field will allow matter through as long as the matter is relatively cool, which it isn't as soon as it contacts plasma at star temperatures. Read on, bear with me. High energy is blocked, low energy gets through. The high energy plasma is contained, the reasonably low-energy visible light that gives the blades color passes through, high energy blaster bolts are blocked, other lightsabers are blocked. And here's my favorite bit- We've seen that the blades take time to cut through heavy materials (blast doors), and rebound from heavy structural components, leaving a relatively shallow cut. If the plasma is that hot, why doesn't it slice steel beams and whatnot like buttah? Because the lightsaber force field also only allows a tiny, tiny bit of matter inside. Just the fraction of a gram needed to turn to plasma. When the blade hits a steel beam, the first bit of steel touched is immediately heated to plasma temperatures and is inside the blade's force field. Too much matter, and too hot, so the field spits it out, exposing cooler material, which it heats, then also spits out. This process slows down the cutting of denser materials. Voila! I like it, anyway... I'm thinking if this force field also limits the amount of kinetic energy that can go through, it'll block slugthrowers as well. Damn, I'm nerded out....

@freddymcfred17 8 лет назад

@Faithless0415
@Faithless0415 8 лет назад
I appreciate that. I know it was way off in TL:DR territory, but I'm happy knowing one person skimmed it at least. :-) It just occurred to me that OF COURSE the field sorts for high/low kinetic energy as well. Kinetic energy and heat are kissin' cousins. (That's how real scientists describe it, I'm told.)

Everyone knows the REAL defining factor to Deadpool is... Well, in his pants... So the parts that regenerate from that are the real Deadpool. Which is why the head turned evil.

I read a comic with Deadpool ( can't remember which one ) he was decapitated and then his body was searching for his head to attach it to the body, and in this time he was still speaking

you can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I've ever seen a video where he has a shirt with a design on it. It's possible that he's drawing normally and they're just flipping the video left to right

+Josh Wilder I think so too You know the magic of editing xD But I do see sometime he write backward too.

+Josh Wilder That's exactly what they do. In some videos you can notice how his shirt buttons flip from one side to another. When he writes or draws something that has to be in a certain direction he does it normally and they flip the image, but when he draws something simetric they don't have to flip it so it seems he uses both hands when he actually doesn't.

This video is actually a good example. At 1:50 his top button is on the left side but at 2:50 (when he's writing) it's on the right side.

Wolverine #57-61 (volume 3) would seem to suggest that no, he cannot. In those issues we find out that if Wolverine's injuries are so severe that he dies before his healing factor kicks in he will, in fact, die. An injury reducing him to a single particle would kill him under this description. However, in Wolverine #43 (also volume 3) we see all of his soft bits blown off of his skeleton which would clearly kill him before his healing factor kicks in. But it didn't. He regenerated within minutes. In Excalibur #100 (volume 1), Professor Xavier believes the only way to stop Wolverine is to remove his head and keep it separated from his body. This won't kill him, but incapacitate him. This would suggest Xavier believes he can regenerate from a single cell. The bottom line, I think, is that Wolverine can regenerate from anything so long as he will continue to sell comics. Writers alter his power levels all the time, even removing some, and he keeps on doing what he does best... bub. Source(s): Wolvering #43, 57-61 (Volume 3) Excalibur #100 (Volume 1) -Jeff

There's a difference between movie dp and comic dp. In the comics he's curses with immortality, which is why he's able to live after decapitation. I think only a throw into a volcano or something similar will be able to shut dp up for good.
