I did a 468 mile (753 km) head clearing ride yesterday. It was very hot, some of the roads were rough, lost a glove, a few things came loose from the trike and I had a good time. It was 10 hours of riding, just what I needed.
Full credit to all the members of DANHOG, a great bunch of people supporting and encouraging each other all the way, with plenty of rides and social support.
A thought while cruising in the wind… and contemplating relationships… My love language is the wind I ride, the adventure I endeavor and the journey that is my destination. I will remember this encounter from time to time and smile, reminding me of the fool in the mirror.
It's not just a harley that gives you the things that you mentioned in this video. I've been riding for nearly 40 years. I've had sports bikes, sport tourers and cruisers. I've used them all to clear my head at times and still do. The people you choose to ride with also have an impact on your ride. Dont ride above your abilities. Stay safe and ride clean.
G'day Amon. Riding a motorcycle, and it does not matter what brand it is, has in essence, saved my life. I am a disabled vet with some issues, but when I'm on my bike the world becomes a much better place. It's amazing how the mind can reach a level of clarity when all your focus is on the sound of the bike and the wind going by. As you said brother, the simple things are sometimes the most rewarding. great video as usual mate. Cheers.
Riding a Harley to me is all about the journey, being at one with the bike and the sight, sounds and smell of my surroundings, with a beating V twin as the backing track, and being part of a worldwide group of kindred spirits.
What a fantastic video mate....you hit the nail on the head!!! Riding is like life....we all need to slow down and experience and appreciate it. See it for what it is and embrace it whilst we can.....well that's my philosophy these days! Cheers mate. Ride Safe 😎
What a great blog you have made here Aymen. I'm so glad that I found your series of blogs. I found myself nodding along with you with most, if not all of the things you mentioned. Thanks for sharing this mate. What an interesting and informative post you have shared that I hope many others will see.
I have 60K on my Iron 883 2017 Evolution engine it’s been a cafe racer a scrambler and now almost stock again. Ridiculous but that’s one of the best things about Harley because I can reengineer and evolve the bike how I want. And I have it all in storage if later on I feel that need. Harley has taught me individually and creativity. I do have a x300 Versys as a 2nd bike for adventure rides and my men’s group
Aymond not sure i am spelling your name right, if not so sorry! I love your channel, I find it inspirational and wise. I live in the US. I ride a 2023 Low Rider St and i'm 57 years old. I have been riding motorcycles all my life thanks to my dad. He raced stock cars dirt tracks back in the day! We had boats, snow machines, and motorcycles so thankful for that! I appreciate how your channel touches on so many things, health, metal health and life in general. Thanks!
When I first started riding in the 60s, it was like discovering fire , electricity, and nuclear power all rolled into one. It also gave me freedom and mobility that others didn't have or hadn't discovered it yet for themselves. I became aware early on to be safe and not to over extend myself by getting into things that I didn't have the skills to handle yet. I eventually learned to conquer everything that came my way. I learned tires, clutches, electrical problems, tune ups, engine rebuilding, etc.. Riding and maintaining motorcycles gave me great confidence and a positive outlook on life.
very well said❤️ that's why I like night riding so much. Honestly, it's the only rides I've ever slowed down and just felt the environment. Doesn't matter if I'm on the bandit 1250 which is highly modified to be a hooligan bike or my Harley Davidson Ultra, if it's daylight, I'm gonna push both bikes for what the road and the bike will give me, that's probably due to 10 years of law-enforcement police motorcycle riding lol .but at night on either bike, I'll slow down and when you're out of town, you can literally feel the dark !
Great video! I have slowed down and started to smell the roses lately after I retired. I was going thru some old pictures and made a grouping of old photos of vacations cars bikes and family and friends over the years and hung it up in the garage on the wall by the door going into the house my kids love it my wife stopped and said what a journey we have had the first time she seen it, my kids couldn’t believe how fast has pasted my job was done. Don’t wait till your old like me to slow down and smell the roses enjoy the moment even if it’s a small one! Ride safe!
I just got an 02 Electra glide and I love it the sound and the ride are so much better, and it has a radio that I only us to charge my phone I think I actually had it on once just to see if it worked lol I also just started using a open faced helmet I always wore a full faces (as you can tell from my profile pic) it had a bluetooth system on it sometimes got calls while I was riding. its so much better. I didn't think id like it but it feels so much better. Feels less restricting more relaxing.and no bluetooth just me and the Bike and the open road.
Another awesome vlog Aymen , 100% spot on ! Clear ur mind , clear your space un needed stuff in both places causes un necessary clutter . 💜 keep doing you !!
For me it's all about seeing what's around the next corner. I'm in Missouri so I'm 2 lane blacktop all the way unless I'm riding out of state. We just went to Florida and back and had a great ride. I had a whole week on a beach.
I agree that there is something great about HD bikes, especially when you have spent the time and money to set it up for your taste and riding preferences. They are an expensive machine and I think they’re, or rather my bike is my prize possession. Something more than just another bike.
Another cool vlog, Aymen. You covered a few good topics most bikers can relate to, I know I did... Take it easy, Ride at your happy pace, full throttle! Annie, ✌🏽😎 OLD...☠️
Life is short and full of troubles. You must stop and smell the roses, so to speak, along the way. It's too late when they're placed at your funeral. 👍 Keep the faith ✌️
To paraphrase a famous Book Title - as I believe it sums this Channel exactly = " Zen and the Art of Motorcycles " Right Here & Right ( Ride ) On Mate Cheers Lots eh
One thing that comes to mind with regards to what riding a H-D taught me about life is to never complain when the boss supplies you with a H-D to ride to work on. It's just one of the perks of being self employed :)
I NEVER take the “fastest” route, or the most direct route. I evaluate my ride before I roll, so I plan the specific routes, expected traffic, pavement conditions, and even the time of day.
1 ) the Journey - take the Long Way if it is better and more fun Always i Noticed this = I arrive at Work ( job/employment/slog ) with a huge smile on me Dial just from the ride in..Most others are Grumpy and Miserable ( the f-ers ) at Work.... Then, it doesn matter how bad / awful that Day was at Work, when Leaving & the bike started the smile returned, and i would arrive home happy-as-Larry ( I survived again ). Rinse&Repeat !
At 16.02 you mention don't hoard things, I hope you don't mean motorcycles. I am a hoarder of all sorts of crap, but i have only 7 bikes ( and hpoefully 8) soon, which are projects that will one dya be rideable, 2 are runners with 3 not far off.
You make it sound as if your points are exclusive to riding a H-D when it's truly just maturity and the wisdom gained along the way. Still, I can't begin to think how often I've witnessed H-D riders that don't lend themselves to the points you made. For instance, trailering their bikes to rallies just so they can "prove" they're a biker with their rally shirt. Another is the weekend bar hopping and bike night drinking or wearing a worthless brain bucket or no helmet is yet another signature Harley trait here in the states.
The rumble of Harleys went out with powdered wigs and dinosaurs. And now the WOKE agenda just put the last nail in their coffin. Ducati has the most unique sounding twin hands down, and I don't even own one. This is pure fact, please don't comment if you don't agree as you will only be embarrassing yourself 😢.
