Frida had a lot to say about this video! What a cheerful soul :) Great video. I think going to try the pure nuff stuff shampoo bars, I've used the lush ones and they always seem to leave a residue in my hair after a few weeks.

For conditioner if you dont mind Lush products I use RnB. Its designed for natural afro hair for deep conditioning stuff but I use a tiny bit rubbed between the palm of my hands on damp hair as a leave in. It works really well, one of the smallest pots has lasted me like 8 months.

Thank you for these videos they're really helpful. I just got a shampoo bar today. Hair feels great. My body bar soap is coming tomorrow. My baby is nearly 5 months and in full time cloth nappies thanks to inspiration I got watching your video about your baby bag when I was pregnant/he was newborn. We are moving house back to London and will soon be plastic free. I've been collecting jam and passata jars for my grains and stuff and have been crochetting plastic bags I do get into reuseables. My husband is coming round to the idea as he is realising I mean business 🤗 Thank you again 😊😊

Rehana Sara wow, that place looks heavenly! Will definitely go there and bask in the glory of it 😄 I look forward to seeing more places like this pop up around other areas of London too. These should be the norm not the mass plastic producing waste centres we have everywhere now 😣 It's more fun this way. The soap was making my skin feel a bit dry so I got some going to waste emoillient added some coconut oil to thicken it and lavender oil for ell and put it all in a clear jar and now I have lovely moisturiser 😍

If you like the brand Lush they have a conditioner bar and it works well for me, they even ship it in entirely compostable packaging :)

Lush products make zero waste products now that come unpackaged. I haven't tried them yet but I love their shampoos and conditioners so I will checking those out after I run out of what I currently have.

This is really nice. A toothpowder recipe would be great too, thank you. I have found that for deodorant 2 parts oil: 2 parts sodium bicarbonate: 1 part arrowroot works well. Usually I have seen the recipe as 2: 1: 2 but for me 2:2:1 lasts longer and is less clumpy.

Holly Owen I use a similar recipe, only I use 3:2:1 coconut oil, baking soda, cornstarch. If the deodorant is not absorbent enough add more starch, and if you still smell sweat then you need more baking soda. This works very well for me, hope you find that helpful :)

This is an old conditioner trick from the days before hair conditioners. Basically you condition your hair before shampooing, which sounds weird. You massage a bit of olive oil or jojoba oil or Argan Oil all over your hair and scalp. Leave it in for ten minutes. Comb through gently. Then shampoo as usual in the shower or bath or sink.

Although this is more Laundry related then bathroom they do relate to each other...basically when washing your clothes do you use refillable liquid wash , soap nuts , make your own and or another alternative ?

Indiscreet Vegan I just used it for the first time last week and I love it! Great minds ✌🏽 Definitely more moisturising than the one I’ve been using, but sadly, on its own, my hair felt dry after. I must have really dry hair.

Rehana Sara , Haha so it seems! ahh fair enough, I have quite thick and curly hair that can be prone to dryness so sometimes I run a small amount of either shea butter or jojoba oil through my hair when it’s wet and that can help. I’m not sure if it would would as well for your particular hair type but it could be worth a try?

Indiscreet Vegan thank you for the suggestion! At the moment when my hair is wet after washing, I run argan oil through it. I’ve done jojoba before too and love the smell. It’s weird because I never used to have dry hair. I think it’s changed since I had my baby.

You are stunningly beautiful. I found this recipe in Mother Earth News Summer 2015 issue. I make and use it three seasons out of the year, in the summer I actually purchase mainstream antiperspirant/ deodorant because if I begin sweating I get nervous and then can start smelling a bit. I will say that some people believe depending on the weather where you live it has an effect on the effectiveness of a natural product (fyi) but this one works incredibly well for me here in the heartland of America. 1/4 cup vegetable shortening 1 Tablespoon cornstarch 2 teaspoons baking soda Blend until smooth and store in jar with tight fitting lid. To use rub a small amount under arms. Although recipe didn’t call for it I added lemongrass essential oil (10 drops) and like that (I got this idea from a different homemade deodorant recipe).

For deodorant I just use alum stone. I also have tried sooo many different deodorant recipes and alum stone has been the only one that works.

Rehana Sara Yes and been doing this for about four years now , been brillant! I do use solid soap at the bathroom sink and solid shampoo bar once a week to wash my hair , use a liquid conitioner at present , once finished I'll look at refill brands or solid bars. What advice would you like ?

I started gradually going from one day a week to eventually no soap at all , took a few months. Basically I have sensitive skin and was using body washes and soaps to help my skin yet found after a while they stopped working or made my skin worse! I tried a variety including natural ingredients ones and they ended up being the same so I did some research and saw washing with water only and thought I would give it a try , a colleague I used to work with when I first started this happened to bring this topic up and mentioned he did the same for the last 20 or so years. My skin became healthier , softer and I didn't have to moisturise as much either , our bodies self clean to a point and produce oils to keep clean so by washing with soap and all we strip that away. Do note I have a job that involves working in an office so I don't technically get dirty , if I had a job that got me dirty in anyway I would use soap yet keep it to a minimum! I'm happy to keep providing advice ☺ I live in Cardiff , Wales.

If you haven't already, try the brand ethique they have a hair sampler package which has two conditioner bars, and three shampoo bars, it is only $15 on amazon!!!! I just bought it! There are reviews on youtube about them, I am about to make my own review about the products if you're interested about my review you can follow me on instagram @zero_waste_girl I am going through a zero waste bathroom transformation and will be adding some of these ideas to my bathroom!

Grace Jefford thanks, I know the book, I’ve read parts and can counter the poorly constructed arguments. I’m vegan though, not vegetarian, so I don’t consume any meat, dairy or eggs. You should read ‘How Not To Die’ and ‘Eating Animals’.
