The more experienced a person, the less things they carry. Which is exactly what you doing. That bucksaw looks stunning however with some "CHARACTER" after being used it'll reflect the inner you. Something that I ALWAYS carry with me on hiking etc is a BIC lighter and my Rebar Leatherman...🤠

My favourite outdoor knife is a beautiful lock blade knife that was made in Pakistan. My daughter bought it for me Ace Hardware about 12 years ago. I take my sharpening stone and the steel blade becomes so sharp you can shave with it when I am done. My sheath believe it or not was meant to put hand shears for pruning in. The lock blade fits beautifully in there! And you are right Alexis old gear is sometimes the very best gear! Ttyl, Alexis.

Hi there Alexis .. A nice share .. thank you 👍😊. That is a really neat-looking pack that you have there. The Supplier being Netherlands-Based, it's just down the drag from where I am in Switzerland. I took a look at the his Website .. he has some really cool doodah's therein (stuff to drool over and scheme as to how to justify possibly getting 😎). Fire Kit .. I suppose that it's part of your Cook Pot Setup (it's always interesting to know as to what others cart along with them). Yep .. one does not have to buy the expensive 'bespoke' gear in order to get started in Bushcrafting and the Outdoors. Budget Stuff has (and still does) served me well. As you say .. "It gets the job done." Take care .. Tommy

The items you have in your backpack is about what I carry with me except for your ax which I don't carry. I have a saw and have a good knife with me which I carry on my utility belt, and a backup knife which is a folding type which can be used for handling food and a multi-tool which is in my pack with the backup knife. I also carry a folding solar panel in my bag also to charge my phone with and my pack is made by Sandpiper of California (SOC) and it is a great pack and made by the company which builds backpacks for the military.

Great load out reveal Careena. I dig your point about not needing to spend a fortune on gear. It's nice to have nice things for sure and it definitely makes a trip more enjoyable but I think sometimes when people see a $500+ pack, $300+ knives etc it tends to turn them off. I also have a Mora Bushcraft Black, it's an awesome knife in every sense of the word, regardless of price. Like you I have many knives costing much, much more and they aren't necessarily that much better. As far as clothes go, I'm a giant so I find Fjallraven clothes too small and short. I'm a Filson guy through and through when it comes to outdoor clothes. Hope this finds you, Ryan and family all well.
@careenaalexis

I've really adopted a "buy it once" mindset over the past few years, and while it doesn't work for everyone, I would rather have expensive gear that last a lifetime than cheap gear than breaks down fast and adds to all the landfills and you end up spending more in the end replacing all the garbage gear. Even if you get sick of the expensive gear, it hold amazing re-sale value and you take that money and buy something else you really love and will have for many years. There is literally no downside to getting quality gear. obviously gear takes years to build up, but that's pretty common sense. :) Thanks as always Matt.

Another nice vid. I would say go to a wide mouth water bottle. Easier to fill in the field, easier to clean/dry at home. When you can get the cleaning cloth fully inside the bottle you know it is clean (better than a bottle brush) and can easily dry the inside, also. Ti, sure....but expensive and the weight of the water will far exceed the weight of the bottle in non Ti. On the kettle, aluminum is very close to Ti if not even lighter. Money no option, sure Ti.
