What's in the bag for me in 2023? I'm looking at whether it's worth me getting a new driver for a WITB 2023
Starting things off with the current driver, Cleveland Launcher XL on 9 degree with a Ventus Velocore Black 6X - It's been working lovely. BUT IS THERE MORE?
The Cleveland Launcher XL has it's limitations in loft as the lowest you can crank it to is 9 degree.
Testing out the Srixon ZX5 MK2 Driver on my current Velocore Black 6X shaft was the first place I wanted to look for a new driver. This was done on a comparative 10.5 on lower loft setting to give a toe to toe comparison between the Cleveland Launcher XL and the Srixon ZX5 MK2 Driver.
Then ramping things up a notch with the same 10.5 loft on a Srixon ZX5 LS Driver to see if that low spin element of the Srixon MK2 Driver did anything useful
Looking at the numbers I chose to switch it up and hit the Srixon ZX5 LS Driver on a 9.5 head, lower loft setting and the LA Golf Trono Shaft in 65 Stiff Flex driver shaft

Ive had 21 drivers in 3 years, being a lefty and in Oz its the best way for a tinkerer. I buy pre owned or demo previous year models, do on course back to back and switch out shafts. Distance performance isnt that great however shaping and enjoyment is. Currently game B21 with Hzrdus smoke yellow shaft (100mph ss). Backup is Tsi2 with Tensei Orange. PXG arent cheap or popular in Oz, but might try one from the US.. Have a Stealth and Rogue ST coming..

21 Drivers!! Fair Play... That's a lot of video potential :) I'm a big fan of a lower torque counterbalance shaft like the Tensei Orange I lived in Sydney for almost a year, before PXG was a thing! They'll maybe get some better distribution out there eventually

@@FredzGolf We are still a small market so the bigger brands dominate. If I buy smart than I can flip at no cost. I had the Ventus blue in the SIM 2 which is another good CB shaft like the Tensei Orange and Smoke yellow. Funny thing is I have Kura Kage in my FWs... What was your local Sydney course?

If you ground the club does it go back to the standard loft?

You asked would I change drivers for 5 yards and if definitely say no. Especially in your case where the dispersion isn’t better. I think sometimes as golfers we get bored after a while and want a change in equipment for various reasons. I’ve been with my current driver 4 to 5 years now. I do like the new Srixon lineup but feel like it would be minimal improvement over my current gamer.

First thing I did was bang one 350 on the golf course with it on Friday, split the fairway (recorded Thursday night) - Not sure the Cleveland would have had that in it Don't forget that +5 yards didn't include 2 shots that would have carried 305 or so then run past that but hit the tree in the vid More testing to be had to see how reliable it is I think but I knew what it needed feel wise out in the open :)

@Ariesnc I just want to explore it a little more .....I didn't try the Velocore on the lower setting 9.5⁰ LS 🤔🙂 need to give that a whirl I want to get my average up to 170 ball speed ....not just the odd one 😁

Looking at MyGolfSpy results, The Srixon ZX5 LS is in the top 3, they test over 10k shots when they test and the PXG isn't in the mix I should do a comparison actually as I "maxed out" the Gen 6 driver nicely! Could be good to see how the ZX5 LS stacks up against something that is very forgiving like the 0311XF Comparison incoming I think :)

@@FredzGolf played the PXG proto driver. For me it sucked and I went back to my Srixon Z785 . I’ve been playing for about 4 seasons and before that I played Cleveland classic XL. My Brother had a PXG 0211 driver. The distance wasn’t there for him so he went back to his Taylormade M2. Maybe the Gen 6 is better but I haven’t seen reviewers raving about PXG drivers. I have the PXG irons and love them but drivers are lacking in comparison .

@ariesnc6320 I quite liked the 0311 XF Gen 6 it was "nice" ...not enough to put it in the bag against the ZX5 LS though ..that thing is mean 😏
