I hadn't used my hammer chisels in many years and when I went to use them they immediately stopped working. I soaked them in solvent for a few days and they were fine afterwards. I generally use the same hydraulic oil that I use in my nail guns but I think it might be too thick. I like the idea of a bottle of solvent. I am going to look for one to assign to this use.
Great video!!! So not rubber seals, just an oil seal. I did not think about gumming up the hammer with old oil. I think a wide mouth jar would make cleaning easier. I am thinking of getting one of those hammers to do fine planishing. .

I have heard Automatic Transmission Fluid is a powerful penetrant. I sprayed some regular penetrating oil into both ends and put it under low pressure and 30 minutes later I got movement again.
I'm sure they have. But honestly, the mechanics of their air hammers is are so simple and straightforward that almost nothing can happen to them. Just make sure to keep them clean and they'll last a lifetime.

Hi, thanks for your great work ! I'm in a point to choose first cuturi hammer, and not sure which size will be good for me. What do you recommend as a must have, mostly used one? A, V or U ?
It all depends on the size of work you are planning to do. In any case, type A and E are generally good for most work. Just make sure that the shaft size fits the size of the chisels that you have.
@@christopherazzopardi2062 I think that's their largest one right? Never tried it. Probably the U is a bit more versatile as it's slightly smaller (I think). But if you're serious about carving stone you'll eventually end up with having most of them. So start with anyone and build up your collection from there.
Love your videos. How about videos on finishing techniques? And, have you ever used sodium silicate to preserve weaker / more delicate areas of marble?
Great suggestion, thank you! Do mean types of chisel finishes or more sanding and polishing techniques? I've used sodium silicate as a binder for repairing broken terracotta sculptures and it worked great. But have never used it for marble yet.

Tutto bene finché sono apparse due crepe su due lati opposti... Vorrei proseguire con l'uso alimentare della vasca, ma come e con quali prodotti sarebbe meglio intervenire visto che dovrà contenere alimenti ??? Nel frattempo mi sono fatto realizzare una quindicina di graffette di acciaio inox 316 l resistente a qualsiasi sale, salmastro... La forma è fatta ad u in maniera tale da poter andare a cavallo dei tagli... Aspetto tue notizie... Grazie in anticipo...
